        He crashed a few planes.

Maybe he should have flied them upside down.

Or with his pants on the ground?

McCain's performance was shameful. He's just a petty politician...and an old bigoted crank. This country is soooo lucky he wasn't elected President.

McCain has no honor. Anyone who has honor stands up for doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do. J.D. Hayworth's challenge to his seat in Congress is driving McCain nuts. He'll do and say anything to win re-election.

Honor is optional for him, and whether he uses it or not depends on what McCain wants and no one else.

Saxby with his deferments should not be talking about what people in the military want or don't want since successfully avoided the draft with his bad knee (oh by the way, he is one of the best golfers in the Senate)
Secondly, McCain has run from every moral stand he has ever taken in the past (oh, by the way, ask someone who was there at NAS Lemoore, Ca. O club, the reaction of his fellow pilots when he was shot down)

Mike Mullen has said repeatedly before today that if obama told him to work to repeal this law that he would be willing to do it at anytime. Most notably, he told this to jon stewart not all that long ago. Thank god mccain lost - he is not in the center on any issue. Just another republican hack

You have to excuse McCain he is suffering from Demensia. To think he almost was president! With Sarah Palin as VP!

I don't know what happened to John McCain.

He sold out to GWBush after Bush's campaign smeared not only he, but his wife. He sold out his principles to get himself nominated for president. He tossed aside his common sense when he hired that foolish Alaskan to run with him, and gave her an entree into all our lives. He showed glimmers of his personal qualities during the campaign, but none made up for his inherent buttheadedness.

I hope the tea-party crank wins the GOP senate nomination, then to lose to a worthy Dem candidate. John McCain should retire now. He is far far far past his best.

It's not all that complicated. He has a conservative primary opponent. McCain's always been a "maverick" when he thought it would suit him (rejecting the religious right, 2000) and perfectly willing to shift hard to the right when THAT was what was required (embracing the religious right, 2008 and choosing Sarah Palin for VP.) This is no different- John McCain is for John McCain. Everything else is secondary, including consistency and principles.

What happened to the old "maverick" title? I seems as though McCain is betting on the teabaggers and sister Sarah to help him win another term as a senator. I hate politicians that pander for votes, and that's exactly what the "maverick" is doing. What a shame.

If this issue gets put off for another year, it'll give Repubs an opportunity to win enough seats in the Senate to ever pass any legislation that could permanently repeal "DADT"

Obama's administration should try and get this done soon. It would be a huge positive step.

This would energize the Democratic base, which he desperately needs to do. Plus, I really don't think he'd lose many Independents over this issue. The only ones who will be upset are the Evangelical nutbags and Redneck bigots, and they already think Obama is Satan incarnate, anyway.

The real news here is that an Old School member of the Mainstream Media is spanking a Republican for hypocrisy.

There may be hope after all.

Wait a minute! The MSM actually called out a Republican for hypocrisy?

A Nixon flack no less called him out.

McCain is always for something before he is against it. He needs to put those nasty old feet in shoes instead of flip flops.
