... oh ... 2008.
You racist jerk.
Yeah, Bork, he's a racist, sexist, bigotted jerk.
I could be totally wrong on this, but I beleive it stems from a tradition of former Vice President's who are elected or move into the Presiential office to use their former desks.
I know this was true of Bush Sr., but I am not sure about Nixon.
As to Beck's knowledge of the Resolute desk, I would guess that he believes that it was bolted to the floor, that every President since Washington had sat behind it, and there really is a "book of secrets" hidden within.
god help us
Then, they thumb their nose at the sane world and dare us to stop them. In essence they are saying "Look... I can tell these rubes ANY F***ING THING, and they believe it! And there's nothing you Liberals can do about it!"
Really, you could have posed a better argument by pointing out that Beck has not been a huge supporter of Bush, who is shown in the photo earlier in the thread to have his feet up on the same Resolute desk. The point is that Beck's outrage over this seemed to be reserved for this President and this President alone. He never once mentions that other President's have done the same, no condemnation of "any President" who has. He refers only to this President, and saves his venom for him alone, and accuses him of having a lack of respect for a historic piece... ignoring or being ignorant of the historic and documeted precedents.
I think the point about the desk is that sturdy functionality and strong durability are better expressions of who were are as a country, rather than the President's desk being a fragile and delicate piece that must be treated with the softest and gentlest of hands.
D@MN! Who is that!!! HE'S DISRESPECTING! TAKE HIM TO JAIL!
SMH!
