I strongly suspect that he would pull the same bs with any Dem Prez regardless of skin color. It's all part of that shilling for the Republican party which his buddy Bill O'Reilly claims he doesn't do.

So when good ol'boy Dubya did the same thing, to the same desk, it's okay?

It is so sad that these people get away with spreading nonsense that can be disproven by ten seconds of Googling! Even when shown the pictures, they will still stick to their insane point.

My favorite was the fake outrage of Obama having his feet on the desk while talking on the phone to some Middle East dignitary, like the guy on the other end of the phone could somehow see Obama's "disrespect".

Which is another contradiction for there craziness. Why would Obama disrespect a fellow Muslim? In fact, why would they worry about anyone disrespecting a Muslim? See, they criticize Obama when he does something they like!

I guess it's okay for white feet to go on that desk... and since when has Beck shown any respect for the office of the President?

      ... oh ... 2008.

You mean like every other president who has sat at that desk? Oh, yeah, I forgot, Obama's skin is much darker than the rest of the presidents who have done this, therefore, HE is being disrespectful.

      You racist jerk.

Yeah, Bork, he's a racist, sexist, bigotted jerk.

I am only guessing, but I am pretty sure that Ford did not use the Resolute Desk during his days in office... this one doesn't look like it. He took over for Nixon, who I believe had the Resoulte Desk moved elsewhere.

I could be totally wrong on this, but I beleive it stems from a tradition of former Vice President's who are elected or move into the Presiential office to use their former desks.

I know this was true of Bush Sr., but I am not sure about Nixon.

The Bush photo crucifies the Beck argument, and while I have been doing some searching I can't seem to find a Clinton photo, but for the life of me I would swear I had seen one with his feet on the desk.

As to Beck's knowledge of the Resolute desk, I would guess that he believes that it was bolted to the floor, that every President since Washington had sat behind it, and there really is a "book of secrets" hidden within.

Beck wouldn't know the Resolute Desk from one bought at IKEA. He's just upset because Obama dared to put his feet on the desk . . . any desk in the Oval Office.

Actually, Beck saw a certain movie with Nicolas Cage in it, but Beck's concern for the desk his like his concern for American History: ill conceived, ill informed, retrograde and reactionary.

Unfortunately, he does get away with it. He and Rush are playing a little game with us. They say the most outrageous and dishonest things, then sit back and laugh to themselves because their idiot listeners swallow it without question.

Then, they thumb their nose at the sane world and dare us to stop them. In essence they are saying "Look... I can tell these rubes ANY F***ING THING, and they believe it! And there's nothing you Liberals can do about it!"

When I compare the picture of President Obama with his feet up to the, nearly identical, photo of GWB with his feet up what I see is Obama actively engaged in a staff meeting and Bush looking tired and bored while Karen Hughes is doing the talking and Mueller and Rove aren't even looking at him.

You all are forgetting that the President is a Muslim and in Muslim countries it is considered an insult to show someone the bottom of your shoes. It means that the person feels that the one he is showing them to is beneath him. That arrogant SOB!!! Sarcasm of!!!

I'm not sure that anyone here is calling him a liar because of this particular clip. Just pointing out the hypocracy of his outrage.

Really, you could have posed a better argument by pointing out that Beck has not been a huge supporter of Bush, who is shown in the photo earlier in the thread to have his feet up on the same Resolute desk. The point is that Beck's outrage over this seemed to be reserved for this President and this President alone. He never once mentions that other President's have done the same, no condemnation of "any President" who has. He refers only to this President, and saves his venom for him alone, and accuses him of having a lack of respect for a historic piece... ignoring or being ignorant of the historic and documeted precedents.

I think the point about the desk is that sturdy functionality and strong durability are better expressions of who were are as a country, rather than the President's desk being a fragile and delicate piece that must be treated with the softest and gentlest of hands.

Why should they, Mag? He says the same lying BS for all three hours. You listen to him and believe him. Has he mentioned that underground amusement park lately? The one that he convinced uninformed, non-inquiring minds like you to believe existed at one of his former gigs? He's laughing just as hard at you as he did at those poor, misguided fools. Wake up, Mag, you're being played for a fool.

Maybe something to do with Copyright? While clips can be considered 'fair use' (no relation to the re-definition of 'fair' a la Faux), the entire show would be subject to copyright law. Or, are you suggesting that MMFA should violate the Law, Mr. O'Keefe?
