Beck: "If the IPCC had been done by Japanese scientists there is not enough knives on planet Earth for harakiri"

Beck: “I’m a rodeo clown,” he said in an interview, adding with a coy smile, “It takes great skill."

Glennie, harakiri is a vulgar expression for a cultural manifestation that you couldn't possibly understand. (And if your mother really did commit suicide, it's a really gross remark.) Well, this clip went on for a 1:08, your BS output for the day is rising. It took a while, but well, you must be a bit constipated today, it could happen to anyone.

I guess propogating a racial stereotype is Beck's way of pandering to his listeners.

Being Japanese-American, I'm only moderately offended because I've grown accustomed to this type of disparaging remarks and I only true become hurt or offended when it comes from those whom I had admiration or respect for... Beck is not one of them.

btw... I read a really good article entitled Short Term Cooling on a Warming Planet.

A lot of the science went over my head, but they did talk about Atlantic Multi-decadal Oscillation, which details how our oceans oscillate energy ever 65-70 years which is the reason for this past decade flat global temperature...which is predictave of the recent trends.

I'm not a climatologists and don't think I'll ever truly understand the science that goes behind this, but I trust that they aren't all involved in a global hoax... to me that's pretty far fetched.

It's funny to me how it went from Global Warming Skeptics to Global Warming Deniers....

Skeptics would question the studies and look for holes in either the statistics or conclusions. This is good for the scientific process, it's necessary to insure that the Peer Reviewed studies are solid.

Deniers to me aren't scientists. They don't point out the flaws in the current studies (they can't). They create their own studies (usually funded by an agenda driven organization)

        Multi-decadal Oscillation

You just lost 95% of the Republican Party with that one. Science is not their friend.

Oooh. I didn't listen to the audio, but just from the (probably out of context) quote above it doesn't sound too good.

        Are you acknowledging that
        A) making racist jokes is ever not okay or
        B) everyone who believes in global warming shouldn't kill themselves?
        BAD groupie. BAD.

Man, I don't know about this one. Again I haven't listened to the actual audio so I'm only going by the MMFA headline but it just doesn't sound good at all. I'm trying to find a way where it wouldn't be heinous. Honestly I'm having trouble. I'm not even sure I understand what he meant by it. "If the IPCC (I assume he's referring to some report and not the group itself) had been done by Japanese scientists (OK, not offensive so far. Where are you going with this, Beck?) there is not enough knives (uh.. Beck? I don't like where this is going) on planet Earth for harakiri (oh, Beck...)"

Try a little "sophistication and elitism" aka "education," Mag. Like the old commercial said, "a mind is a terrible thing to waste." Based upon your TV choices, I'd say yours is in the danger zone right now.
