Well, it's official. The Republican Party has flushed the years between 2001 and 2009 down the Memory Hole. Of course, if the economy recovers, they'll have to reach in and pull it out again, so they can credit G.W. Bush's tax cuts.

And everyone knows the best thing to do when people are hungry and out of work is cut spending on social programs.

But seriously. I don't know how many times I've had cons tell me that no one in America goes to bed hungry. But now suddenly they do and it's all Obama's fault.

If people were hungry because of Obama's socialism, this doesn't actually jibe very well with what socialism actually is. Proving once again, Limbaugh and his listeners don't know WTF they are talking about.

If Obama was a socialist Limbaugh, everyone would be equal, and not too many people would be going hungry. It was the greedy capitalists that took down our economy to the brink, but this yay-hoo seems to forget all that happened before 20-Jan-09.

Mag, if you ever listen to Boss Hogg's show (or any of the other right wing nuts, same schtick) they've got a good scam going.

They've convinced their below-average audience that any attempts to shift the financial burden of maintaining our civilization to the wealthier Americans will just be passed on to the middle class.

And anything resembling "socialism" will result in everybody being poor.

It may not make any sense to you or me, but it gets low-income teabaggers to vote for tax cuts for Rush.

They also use the three "G's" - gays, guns and God - aka wedge issues. If any of their membership begins to falter they then bring out the idea that the government is going to take their guns away, or allow homosexuals to teach their children or that the man in the White House is not a Christian and this is "a Christian nation." It is all a very cleverly devised scam to maintain power.

Oh, I understand what Boss Hog is doing, and have listened to him a lot over the last couple of years (opposition research?). It just amazes me, time and again, that for example, people that I work with, who are normal intelligent human beings in lots of ways and things, will flip over and just start repeating ad nauseum the talking points, and mixed up phrases, like how having Czars in our Government is just like the good old commie soviet union (forgetting that the czars weren't commies at all).

I even had the "weather is not climate change" talk with a couple of them, and how did they respond when I presented to them NASA's finding of global temperatures over the last 100 years? The chief climatologist for NASA is "in" on the global warming myth, so they can't believe anything NASA would say (never mind the many peer reviewed studies and data sets that are required to actually publish something), and then I am rebutted by, get this, articles from Sen Inhofe, and the American Thinker.

Ho ho! I stopped trying to convince them then, because I knew they were lost causes not interested in the actual science of these things, but more in the partisan issue of them.

I know you get it, Mag, I just meant if you listen to the shows for any length of time, you hear the endless repetition of these ridiculous themes.

Re: NASA, I saw a comment by one of the wingnuts on another thread, something along the lines of "NASA and the rest of the Global Warming nuts...". NASA is now some hippie fringe group to the denizens of Teabagistan.

I'm not sure how Rush or anyone can claim that the economy is bad because of President Obama's social programs... he hasn't done anything yet. Every program that has come up for depate, the Grand Obstructionist Party has stopped it.

What social program could he possibly be talking about? And don't even bring up the Stimulus package, 1/3 of it was Tax Cuts and 1/3 of it hasn't even been spent.

How about all of the nations in the European Union Rush? NO ONE is dying in the gutter in the U.S.? Rush you need to get out more! There is more to the world than just posh country clubs. There are real people struggling every day to make ends meet. Just because you have the great fortune to be paid handsomely to be a self- important blowhard does'nt mean that everyone can eat bon-bons from a silver tray. NAFTA was just the beginning of the downward spiral. Corporations whose altar you worship at could'nt wait to abandon the great American worker for cheap overseas labor. That's capitalist patriotism for you.. See you in the unemployment line. No wait maybe I won't.

Man, that Obama guy is incredible. According to the wingnuts, he's done absolutely nothing, and has managed to simultaneously destroy America and starve us in a year.

I think an important part of being a dittohead is having the cognitive dissonance part of your brain just completely non-functional. How do people listen to the constant contradictions and logical boners and keep nodding along ?

I'm willing to bet more former Clear Channel employees and their families are going hungry because of this pantload's new contract than are going hungry due to the president's policies.
