In Mr. Millers attempt to be funny. He forgot that Catholics are not the only denomination of christian faith that put ashes on their forehead in observing Ash Wednesday.

I was just thinking of how Amanda Marcotte was raked over the coals while she was blogging for the Edwards campaign, because Bill Donohue hauled his fat @$$ onto the cross and insisted she was disparaging Catholics. She ended up fired, and yet nothing will happen to Miller because... I know this...I something...IOKI...it's on the tip of me tongue.

True enough, but at least, Miller is a comedian, or attempts to be one these days. He was always mediocre, at best, and since his "conversion" to Wingnutistan, he's gotten less funny.

Ever notice how conservative humor is hardly ever funny?

I think in his day he was actually pretty funny. Since his hard right turn (he says something like "everything changed after 9/11") he has been unflinchingly and without fail totally and completely unfunny.

Yeah this joke was lame. But I don't think it was a put down of Catholics, it was more a put down of Biden being useless except as an ashtray for Obama.

At least that's how I took it.

Miller ain't all that funny anymore, hasn't been in awhile.

But it was false and it made fun of the VP's religion, which is Catholic. It was a putdown of Catholics. Wonder if he going to go on Bill's "list" of people trying to destroy America with their hatred of religion?

I'll agree with you that Miller is that funny.

Well Bintx, I'm Catholic, & I wasn't the least bit offended. Maybe others would be...

I saw this as merely a slap at Biden rather than at a religion.

Now what was really funny was a clip from British tv they showed on Morning Joe that had the two commentators wondering aloud what was wrong with Biden's forehead...they thought it might be a bruise. They finally figured out it was Ash Wednesday ;-)

So the Cultural Warriors are making fun of an ancient tradition of the oldest Christian sect. Odd.

But don't attack their Christmas Trees, or their Mangers; because then you are inviting a holy crusade.

No, no, no...haven't you gotten the memo from the fundies in this country? According to them, catholics are not christians. A lot of fundies put catholics on par with Jews as far as fake religions. Personally, I think fundies are just jealous that they are the newcomers to the party and don't want to admit they stole most of their ideas from the catholics and jews.

Mr. Miller, your attempts at humor on Fox are merely an attempt for you to kiss the butt of the boss.

If you are preaching to the Fox audience, try starting with knock-knock jokes. Their minds may have progressed to that level.

I love how cruel jokes like this are ignored, but, god for bid, when Family Guy, David Letterman and other COMEDIANS say something not even as close to as vile, it's blown up into a crime. Maybe nothing from Miller is heard because hes such an unfunny d-bag that he wouldn't know comedy if it bludgeoned him over the head. What a clueless jerk.

I respect Bill as an opinion host, but I must agree with many of the comments on here that his remark was not funny. Especially when you actually realize the importance and significance of Ash Wed. to devout Christians who follow that tradition. I am Protestant, but would never trivialize someone else's Christians tradition for the sake of a cheap laugh.
