Go Shep! It's always good to hear from one of the two actual journalists at FOX News (along with Major Garrett).

Don't give Major Garrett that kind of credit. Remember the "communist Chinese" question he asked in the East Room last year...

I agree that he's not perfect, but I think overall he tries to be at least semi-nonpartisan. At the very least, he often cites facts (a nontrivial thing to do at FOX). In addition, I found his recent interview of the President to be fair, respectful, and - most importantly - substantive.

Unlike Shep, I think he also has a lot more pressure from the political people at FOX, and doesn't seem quite as free to call out mainstream conservative figures. But compared to Baier, Kelly, Van Sustern, etc., Garrett is pretty alright.

And you libs think Fox isn't fair and balanced. You just don't like it because they are the only news network on tv that isn't part of the propaganda from the DNC and Whitehouse.

So, because they have one person who isn't biased, they are 'fair and balanced'? You're an idiot.

Us "libs" don't think Fox isn't fair and balanced, we know it isn't. You are trying to claim that Shep Smith, buried at a time when the audience is very small, balances out the hours of RNC talking points. That is just intellectually dishonest.

And if you think that the rest of the media is part of the DNC and simply re-states Democratic talking points, you haven't been paying attention at all (except, possibly, to the RNC spin that is a proven part of Fox programming).

Shep Smith isn't supposed to be biased. He's a news reader. He's the only bright spot in the Fox lineup. Fox has said that they have 7 hours of actual news during the day and the rest is programming from a particular "perspective" . . . . it's more like 1 hour, during Shep Smith's show.

Big bird, NEWS cannot be "fair and balanced." It is what it is. Opinion can be, but it isn't, on Fox. Since Fox has ADMITTED that the majority of its daily programming is NOT straight news, then that means that the majority of what you hear on Fox is opinion. That's all.

It truly sounded like he was a frustrated conservative who thinks the GOP Congress has a bad game plan.

Thankfully, I don't think FNC would give him the boot; he has the highest ratings among all cable news programs (and I might add it's also one of the better ones). He's also, of course, of of their last shreds of journalistic integrity; that doesn't mean a darn thing to Ailes and Murdoch, but maybe it still has some relevance there. Even FOX viewers evidently don't like having a right-wing talking head shouting at them 24/7.

No, Mr. Thune, the real mess is knowing a problem exists and doing nothing to ameliorate its effects. Now that would be like a diabetic refusing treatment and ending up dying from kidney failure or a heart attack.

That was good, although I was a little confused as to whether Shep Smith was saying "we're (the American people) going to lose" if no Bill at all passes, or was he saying "we're going to lose" if this Bill passes by way of the Budget reconciliation process... or did he say both things, one after the other?

      Whichever, it was good anyway.

As far as the "starting over" bullchit, I liked that Smith effectively called it just that, bullchit.

He pointed out that that's not bi-partisan, that's just Republicans getting what they want, because to stop any measure from going forward, whether to send it backwards or whatever, is the same as killing it.

I like what I heard Rep. Barney Frank say, when asked about Republicans wanting to "start over" or "start from scratch."

He said "If they want to start from scratch, then why didn't they?"

[Which maybe it takes a moment to understand the cleverness of that, for it's brevity, but he is of course asking why do Republicans want to start over, when they weren't for health care reform from the start.]

      Good for Shep.
My question is, why are the other, supposedly liberal, networks not doing this?
I am not talking about opinion shows like Keith Olberman or Sean Hannity. They stick to their view points.
I am talking about ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN where politicians blatantly lie all the time.

Careful, too much praise of Shep for not conforming to the conservative protocol and Ailes might shut him down and ship him off. Not like others haven't been sent packing from Fox News for refusing to toe the conservative line.

AMAZING TO BE SEEING THIS ON FOX!!! Give em hell Shep! It's about time someone on FOX actually calls a republican out and shows them as lying bags of dirt that don't give a crap about the American people that they claim to represent. If you listen to each of them at the Health Summit, you would have heard them say the same old song: "start over"............I'd love to start over and that would mean without those OBSTRUCTIONIST REPUBLICANS.
I mean, how do these people sleep at night knowing that they,on a daily basis, deny the people they serve the healthcare that they themselves have and always will? I truly wonder if they even have a conscience at all!
