LIMBAUGH: And by the way, only one place I've seen this. We have the health report on Obama, his first check-up since being elected President, and the news is all about, well, he's got to moderate his nicotine intake and is using nicotine replacement therapy, which is -- it's either a patch or gum or whatever -- but uses the gum. OK. Nobody really expected that he's gonna quit smoking.

But here in the UK Guardian, check the last line of this, this story. "The doctors also recommended moderation of alcohol intake." What? Now they tell us. Doctors recommended "moderation of alcohol intake"? Whoa. I have never seen that report about any president's check-up. Moderate his alcohol intake.

Says the man with an addiction to Oxycontin who had his housekeeper illegally obtaining the narcotic for him from different doctors...and who never talks about whether he was actually able to overcome his addiction. My bet is that Limbaugh still does it...

Oh, BTW...Obama's doctor's notation can mean that since Obama drinks alcohol only in moderation that he should continue drinking only in moderation.

Typical Limbaugh distortion; Drudge is doing the same thing. Here's what the report really says:

Recommendations: Follow-up colorectal cancer screening is recommended in 5 years for routine colon cancer screening. Continue smoking cessation efforts, a daily exercise program, healthy diet, moderation in alcohol intake, periodic dental care, and remain up-to-date with recommended immunizations. Continue modified exercise regimen, and lower extremity muscle strengthening program, for occasional left patella-femoral pain secondary to chronic tendonitis. Recommend dietary modification to reduce LDL cholesterol below 130.

Entire report is available as a download from the White House site.

Continue smoking cessation efforts, a daily exercise program, healthy diet, moderation in alcohol intake,

When you take out the first three items in that sentence, it reads "Continue moderation in alcohol intake". Meaning that President Obama does NOT drink excessively.

FYI, I have a glass or two of wine about every 2-3 months. When I mentioned that to a doctor during a physical, the typewritten report stated that I was to continue in my moderation of alcohol intake. Am I drunk driving, seabird?

Well, Obama does have a history of drug use. He is a self-admitted pot head and coke junkie. I know this because I read his book.

He is currently addicted to nictine. Given his history is it really all that much of a stretch to believe he is addicted to alcohol as well?

He appears to have been drunk when writing his health care proposal.

No...he most certainly is not. If you read his book, as you claim, Obama admitted that for a brief while in college he smoked pot, and when he and his friends could afford it they did a little "blow". However, he sonn abandoned those recreeations. Unless you are privy to information not available to the rest of America there is nothing in Barack Obama's history to suggest that his flirtation with recreational drugs was anything more than what he said.

        You lie...

Another wild swing from the BJ fan. I suspect that the nuts will hover around this one like flies around a latrine.

What about the healthcare proposal sound like the work of a drunk, pray? And what does using nicotine - or "nictine", in your quaint spelling - have to do with the price of cheese in Omaha?

"Given his history"? What do you know about addiction that makes you an expert? From years of experience as an addiction counsellor, i can tell you that people who confess to having used/been addicted are less likely to be using/drinking later on; this includes Bush. In my opinion, GWB managed his addiction problems, but not his corruption problems.

I am an alcoholic. I no longer drink at all, both because I know what it does (basically, I get the hangover without the night before) and my system simply refuses to accept alcohol (aka bringing it back up before much can be absorbed - directly through the stomach lining - which is pretty darn quick!).

I am also addicted to nicotine, though less so than many because I smoke 'like a pipe or cigar smoker', which means I do not fully inhale the smoke, rather I 'swirl' it in my mouth and expel it. That's similar to 'wine tasting', the professionals do not drink, they taste ('swirl' in the mouth) and spit it out.

I don't believe Bush did. Bush continued to drink "non-alcoholic" beer. As an addiction counselor, you know that there really is no such thing as "non-alcoholic" beer. Untreated alcoholics like Bush often substitute non-alcoholic beer for the real thing in the mistaken belief that it's okay. It's not. They continue to feed their addiction.

You are confusing Obama with Mr. Bush. Bush had a coke and alcohol problem. He also continued to drink while in office. Bush was never dry. He admitted to drinking "non-alcoholic" beer. This is a common mistake that un-treated alcoholics make. That "non-alcoholic" beer contains small amounts of alcohol. Bush continued to feed his addiction.

As for Obama "writing his health care proposal." He submitted an 11 page recommendation to bring the Senate bill [which he did not write] and the House bill [which he did not write] together.

Oh, and for such an INTELLIGENT human being . . . surely you could spell nicotine correctly? Nicotine and alcohol are two different drugs. An addiction to one has nothing to do with an addiction to the other.
