Probably so. He is a crook after all. Punxsutawney Al has weighed in again.

        Thanks Al.

Since I hadn't the chance yet to say this on a "live" thread, I thought I'd take the opportunity now. Last week I landed a contract that I was hoping to get and so I will have to devote nearly all of my discretionary time to fulfilling it for the next 6 weeks. That means I will be temporarily unable to continue discrediting the Swiss cheese AGW theory in my attempts to re-educate those of you who have fallen under its "robust" spell.

Now, now, wipe away those tears. I'll be back. I may even swoop in with an occasional jab. But done for now are the days where I can take the time to thoroughly destroy AGW alarmist rhetoric as I have done many times in the past. You know you'll miss me. Cheers!

I'm working on the site, so we can carry on our discussion on climas science we talked about. Sorry, no Al Gore. He's not a scientist.

Meterologists are saying that worldwide, this winter is most likely the warmest on record. That's one of the reasons we had so much snow. There was so much moisture in the atmosphere due to evaporation. When our normal cold fronts hit all that warm moisture . . . . boatloads of snow.

I mean, why don't we arrest the groundhog for saying we had three more weeks of winter.

I agree completely. Al Gore should be prosecuted using RICO statutes. He is obviously guilty of racketeering. He is spreading obvious lies and profiting off of them. Gore knows "global warming" is a complete fraud and hoax - otherwise he wouldn't fly in a private jet.

Gore is a completely fraudulent human being and his is making hundrerds of millions of dollars off of his lies. Comparing him to Bernie Madoff is the perfect comparisions. They both made millions by lying and scamming people. Gore and Madoff are two peas in a pod.

I know you folks will call me stupid, but explain any factual misstatements I have made.

Well it is up to a jury to decide whether he is guilty of racketeering, but if I were a DA I would certainly try to bring a case against Gore to a grand jury under RICO statutes.

If Al Gore believes in "global warming" why does he fly in a private jet? Why is his electricity bill the highest in the state of Tennessee (30 times higher than an average home)? At the very least he is an enormous hypocrite.

I make typos, but you can't form a gramatically correct sentence - we don't end sentences in prepositions sonny. I learned that in elementary school.

You wrote that linguistic nightmare of a sentence and want to complain about the person who wrote this:
he can't even spell the name of the person the dissertation was about correctly.

                    idiomatically correct conversational sentence?

See, the thing is, this format is generally considered to be conversational. We are not writing dissertations. Different rules apply.

This is the clearest explanation of the preposition thing I've ever found.

As for your reference to gerunds, what gerund are you speaking of? I don't see one in the posts immediately above yours.

I detect jealousy on the part of Quinn. Al Gore will never be a billionaire (he is a multi millionaire, as are all current and former Senators since 1994 or so). And furthermore, of course Quinn attacked the science of climate change. He called it a fraud. So his claim that he's only attacking the fraud and not the science is a complete lie.

My real problem with Al Gore is that he preaches about the environment, and yet he was in favor of NAFTA which really handicaps governments from being able to conduct sound environmental policy. I personally root for Ralph Nader when it comes to environmental issues.

The problem with NAFTA and its trade policies is that they either abolish, or severely diminish environmental regulations, particularly in Mexico. The reason why we don't see it as much here in the good ol' USA is because we have reached a point of democratic struggle where we wont allow such a breakdown of environmental protection. GATT does the same. It allows corporations to monopolize on public and community holdings and then run them as they wish. Usually ignoring environmental regulations and consumer protection rights. I'm just shady when it comes to Al Gore, he's way too inconsistent. Nader has called him on it quite often man. Dont believe me, look it up. I take noy joy in bashing progressives, but we need to call em as we see em or risk falling into some crazy lockstep.

NAFTA did not abolish or diminish environmental regulations in Mexico. It just allowed companies to move there because their regulations were already low.

Yes, thats true. But if you can believe it, they actually lowered once corporations were able to move. By paying off certain legislators (typical I know) they were able to lower it even more so than before NAFTA. I'm with Kucininch when he said we need much better trade policies.

The Nicaraguan Democratic Resistence were freedom fighters not unlike George Washington. The Sandinistas were Communists. They overthrew the Somoza government - hence they were illegitimate. Nobody elected the Sandinistas. As soon as they faced an election the NIcaraguan people booted them. They elected Violetta Chomorra - a political supporter of the Nicaraguan Democratic Resistence.

YEs, we do love the NIcaraguan freedom fighters. They were inspired by George Washignton, THomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Samuel Adams, and THomas Paine. Adolfo Calero (the head of their political wing) was allied with the Catholic Church - this is just a bit inconsistent with death squads. Would the CHurch endorse him if he were involved with death squads? I think not.

George Washington was paid by a foreign power to re-impose the monarchy in the Colonies? Brutal dictatorships (Somoza) are legitimate governments?

Violetta Chamoza was the widow of an anti-Somoza newspaperman. She was supported by the NDR, not the other way round. She was was elected President, but the Sandinistas still had the majority of popular support (they were not booted).

Sandino, by the way, was the leader of a resistance against US occupation of Nicaragua. A successful resistance.
