(Where IS Jack Nicholson when you REALLY need him?)
If you are so upset with Mr. Obama's alleged "marxism" why were you not screaming about all of the REAL Marxists in the Bush administration?
I most certainly was. I was so angry at Bush pre-TARP that I considered voting for Ron Paul (I eventually settled on Mitt). After TARP I was livid.
Obama is a Marxist on steroids. I honestly think he wants to destroy America.
And yes, I'm being snarky.
If you respond tomorrow, I will assume you had to look it up because you haven't a clue.
Cap and trade is part of the attempt to move us to a sustainable energy policy, so we don't borrow $700 billion every year from the Chinese. Even if the oil exists, this economic policy of borrowing to pay for it is completely unsustainable in the long run.
Now, I suspect you are likely going to point out what you perceive as a contradiction in these two points, Bobby Jindal fan. Namely, that the government option health insurance plan will cost us quite a bit of money. Remember that most of that money will be paid into the plan by premiums, just as with private insurance. Remember also that one of the reasons for instituting it is that the cost of doing nothing will quickly grow unsustainable. As evidence, I cite the recent health insurance company that raised premiums by 79%. Do you really think that can go on year after year? Also remember that we pay twice what countries with a single payer system pay, such as most countries in Europe, and they are ahead of us in health care outcomes, meaning they are getting better care on average at half off pricing. Surely we can do at least as well, right?
As for redistribution of wealth, I typically only ever hear that when the rich are being taxed to pay for something that will benefit everyone. When Reagan siphoned money out of the lower and middle classes, redistributing it upwards to the top 5%, that was just capitalism, right? Can't have it both ways. Sorry.
