Why is Beck continually fighting the war on communism in such an asinine way. For better or worse, capitalism is the way of the world, trying to create some kind of internal communist threat in the guise of the current administration is for the truly gullible and ignorant. As is think about it, maybe the tea party would fall under that category.

Good point. Capitalism is the way in the U.S. He just distracts us from the Crony Capitalism and Corp.Fascism that his masters don't want us notice. But I am on to their game. As are many others.

You say, "For better or worse, capitalism is the way of the world..."

Really? Have you checked in with Chavez, Castro or Ahmadinijab lately? Do you even know the political definitions of Communism, Socialism or Marxism? You might want to do just a little more research before making such a statement, such as a search for "socialist countries".

I'm actually very interested in what kinda sermons Beck's listening to.

But it really does drive in the bare bone argument of conservatives, after all their masked arguments are debunked. It is a position that people like Rush Limbaugh come out and say with pride.

Rich are better. They deserve better. If there is something, a rich person should own it. They should charge for it. And you should pay for it. And if you're not rich enough to afford something necessary for survival, hey, you should've been rich. That is the new face of conservatism. Good luck to them.

Wow. It's amazing to me that people have so much difficulty understanding conservativism. Glen Beck is NOT saying what you infer; what he is saying is this: the government should NOT FORCE the rich, or anyone else for that matter, to help the poor, uninsured, whatever; YES, they SHOULD be using their money to help, but it should be their CHOICE. Those who truly understand the scriptures know that God never forces our choices; He gives us the freedom to choose our own actions. Yes, God has commanded us to care for the poor, the widowed, the orphan, but He extended that charge to us as INDIVIDUALS; He ALWAYS OPPOSED government by force.

In that regard, our government shouldn't FORCE men into the military by draft if the need arises. The government shouldn't FORCE saftey regulations on products like cars, motorcycles, and other things that humans can get killed or seriously injured on. By your argument, the government shouldn't FORCE anything on us. No regulations, standards, or codes on anything. Just let the free market take care of itself. Everything will be honky dory and safety will be maintained because people looking out for a buck will impose those saftey standards and regulations on themselves all the time. Nobody would ever cut corners to save the bottom line or increase profits. They'd always put your safety first.

The government FORCES us to do a lot of things. Conservatives choose this forced issue to harp on because it hurts their pockets.

Speaking of CHOICE, the Bible did not give you a choice of whether to give %10 to the Church or not. It said give it, end of discussion, not give it if you feel like it or give it if your investments are up this quarter. Also, Jesus said give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's. There goes your CHOICE, right there. Was Ceaser helping out the poor with that tax money? Do you think whether Ceaser was helping out the poor and needy would have effected Jesus' teachings on that same tax money? If Ceaser were helping the poor and needy on a large scale, Jesus definitely would not have reversed that teaching. Jesus would not have said, "pay to Ceaser what is Ceaser's...oh, hold on...Ceaser is using some of that money to help the poor, nevermind, don't pay him jack."

REFRESH says, in part, " Also, Jesus said give to Ceaser what is Ceaser's. There goes your CHOICE, right there. Was Ceaser helping out the poor with that tax money?"

Missed the whole point of that passage, did you? When asked if the Jews should pay taxes, he said "Show me the coin ,,, whose inscription and name are on it?". When they admitted is was Caesar, he replied, "Give unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and unto God that which is God's." I have no problem paying my taxes; do YOU have a problem submitting yourself to God?

The problem with Social Justice, in the political sense and not the 'individuals should help the needy' sense, is that it is diametrically opposed to the Constitution. Before you get too comfortable with Social Justice, I'd suggest you learn what it is about it that conservatives oppose. I'd recommend that you google the words WALTER BLOCK SOCIAL JUSTICE, and read an article or two.

My other favorite quote from the book of Republicans is "And Lo the Messiah did come in the guise of Ronald Reagan and stand upon the glorious mound to which he turned to the Virgin-like Nancy and say 'What was I talking about, again?'" Republicans 24:7

"Screw YOU, buddy; I want to take YOURS and give it to someone else, and call it charity."
          (Progressives 19:29 - 20:10)

AND you might want to quote the two preceding verses:
"I have coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me." Acts 20:33-34

We, as individuals, ARE to be charitable and to have an active concern for the poor ... BUT THAT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB.

When I had religion class every morning and studied for confirmation, I obviously had to read all about Jesus. Safe to say, the dude was a big liberal! Even though I'm not a religious person anymore (thanks to people like the GOP) I still know the chapters where it talked about the whole "love your neighbor as thyself", if my memory is correct..some verse of Matthew says that you should give the poor food, drinks, clothes, hospitality to strangers and care for the sick. Jesus also said peacemakers are the children of God, soo...clearly Beck sucks monkey butt, he isn't a child of God AND Jesus was big on Social justice!

Jesus didn't say for the government to take from people and give to other, but to give freely. Out of love. The rich give more than the idol and the government mandates create an idol society. Beck isn't against social justice he is trying to make you see the guise of the term when used by tyranical forced socialistic government like Naziism or communism or radical islamists. Take off the blinders for goodness sake.

Walter Block ( http://www.lewrockwell.com/block/block37.html ) defines the teaching of Social Justice in two ways, one active, and one passive. Here is his definition of the first:

Here, it is typically associated with left wing or socialist analyses, policies and prescriptions. For example, poverty is caused by unbridled capitalism; the solution is to heavily regulate markets, or ban them outright. Racism and sexism account for the relative plight of racial minorities and women; laws should be passed prohibiting their exercise. Greater reliance on government is required as the solution of all sorts of social problems. The planet is in great danger from environmental despoliation, due to an unjustified reliance on private property rights. Taxes are too low; they should be raised. Charity is an insult to the poor, who must obtain more revenues by right, not condescension. Diversity is the sine qua non of the fair society. Discrimination is one of the greatest evils to have ever beset mankind. Use of terminology such as "mankind" is sexist, and constitutes hate speech.

Is this what YOU mean you "social justice"? I'd suggest you read the whole article.

Oh I'm keeling over with laughter. You people do not want separation of church and state so you can have your Commandments at court houses, creationism in elementary biology classes, and God appointed government leaders. But hold on a second...you do not want the government to follow the most important parts of the Bible, the parts that are highlighted in red. The parts where Jesus says the greatest instruction is to love your neighbor as yourself, the parts that tell you not to judge harshly or cast stones, the parts that tell you to give to the poor, the parts that say a rich man getting into heaven is harder than a camel getting through the eye of a needle, the parts where a poor woman giving pennies is more than rich people giving buckoos of cash, etc. Oh, that's right, it's just a one way street... Hypocrite....

Religion and social justice is bad - a "perversion of the gospel," so does that mean religion and capitalism is good?

Does Glenn Beck know what Jesus would say? No.

I am reminded of the story of Jesus kicking out people from the temple... while I am no biblical scholar, I don't think Jesus would have supported unrestricted capitalism at the cost of diminished quality of health care for the masses...
