      Blimpy seems to know one hell of a lot about Mao.

      Why would that be?

      Bastardo comunista!

        Maybe if you knew a little bit about Mao, you might re think some of your ideas.

        Worrier, this is just a guess -- but, I suspect it's because Mao has a palatial edifice . . .

        . . . and so does Limpy . . .

          I'll bet that Mao's place looked a bit more, ahem... manly, than old Doughboys penthouse.

              Floral print shirt -- no;
              White paints -- no;
              Sailor's hat -- maybe:

          Yep, look what conservatives do... cut taxes for the rich while hiking taxes for the rest of us, blissfully ignore poverty, start wars for no reason, increase the size of government, wildly increase the deficit, do nothing to prevent the worst terrorist attack on American soil, lie, torture, and then when they lose power sit in the corner sucking their thumbs.

          Oh, Seagull, you really are an idiot.

                All you need to know about the NTU:

                James Dale Davidson began the organization in 1969.

                In 1970, Davidson hired A. Earnest Fitzgerald, a United States Air Force analyst, as the president of NTU. In 1978, Grover Norquist, was named executive director; after his departure in 1982, he was replaced by former Maryland State Senate Majority Leader George Snyder.

                In 1997, Davidson left NTU; John Berthoud was named president and served until his death in late 2007.

                Duane Parde was named president of the organization following the death of Berthoud.

              I would include the trade policies of the United States as a reason why Detroit and other US cities are looking this way. If you follow free trade policies without forcing others to do so this is what you end up with.

              And why is that? Could it be that the same 10% makes over 50% of all the money?

                Worse, they make about 90% of all the money, and the disparity is increasing every decade. Predictions are that at this rate by 2045 we will have the same level of income disparity as Mexico currently does, with absolutely no middle class.

                Also seahawk you should know that there is a reward out there of $1 million waiting for a CEO that can claim he pays less in taxes than his secretary by percent. The businessman who offered this wager says that after all the deductions and exceptions Rep.'s have made he only pays 18% of his income compared to his secretary who pays 35% of her income in state and federal taxes.

                No one has yet claimed that million dollars.

              Would that be the top 10% who own 71% of the wealth?

              Thanks for confirming that the wealthy don't pay their fair share.

          Really seahawks? You don't think it has anything to do with the race riots that burned large portions of the city and drove out anyone to the suburbs with high enough incomes to afford to? Or the rampant corruption of the city government for the past generation? Or the fact that when you have a sprawling city start to lose population the tax revenue can no longer support the services?

          Flint, MI is doing the same thing: shrink the city footprint so that postal workers, snow plows, police officers aren't wasted on city blocks with only two inhabited residences. It has been successful so far in stabilizing the area. I hope that Detroit can revive itself with the same methods.

      "Mao-like"?

      What the hell does this even MEAN??

      I guess because that has been one of the, what, four catch phrases the ultra right have been spouting off? I bet these loons get together in email and say, "let's start throwing out buzzwords and see which stick and then pummel our listeners with it everytime we air."

        last year rush said detroits decline was due to its mao-like governments of the past 30 years. now its the revitalization efforts. either way detroit you were an elegant jewel of a city at one time and it breaks my heart to see the semi-urban wasteland you have become.it is going to take some radical thinking and a willingness to let go of outmoded ways of living if the renaissance of detroit is to become reality .

      Can we govern now, Rush? Clearing the way for progress sounds great! The wind farm sounds like a good idea too, Rush! Chicago is called the Wndy City and in Detroit the wind is called The Hawk. Wind power and green energy should be Detroit's next best move. WOW! Who woulda thunk it. I agree with Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck on the same day!

        Will it include a nice cultural revolution, Hords of students identically dressed in quilted clothing, waving a little red book arround?

        It just wouldn't seem Mao like without that kind of street theater.
