I didn't understand how Beck could make that leap.

A song about the Vietnam war that didn't glorify it = anti-American?

It makes me think that in Becks world everyone had a great time in Vietnam, they all wanted to be shipped over to kill people, and when they got back NOT A SINGLE ONE slipped though the cracks and ended up on the street.

      What a fantasy world.

At this rate, Beck may discover Public Enemy by the end of the year, at which point things will REALLY get fun.

I'm thinking if he keep blowing his mouth off about religion, he's going to BE Public Enemy and be looking for a new career.

Not necessarily. COntroversy sells ad space, and ergo keeps creepoids like Rush Phlegmball and Ol' Gloopy Glenn Beck on the airwaves.

I'm waiting for Beck to discover CSN&Y's Ohio. It'll drive him mad (admittedly not a long trip).

Beck's head would probably explode if someone told him that Glen Campbell's "Galveston" was an anti-Vietnam War song, and not an ode to a good ol' bastion of southern values/conservatism.

Honestly I don't see how Beck is bashing Born in the U.S.A. either. Either way it's not surprising that someone on the unpopular MSNBC network would bash someone on the popular Fox News network.

        Wait a minute!

To use your logic about popularity, I'll grant you that MSNBC fails miserably when compared to Beck's ratings.

But considering that Springsteen has been selling music and filling stadiums around the world for more than thirty years, I'd say he's more popular than ten Becks.

So it's not surprising that someone who has fewer viewers than a yellow, cartoon, sponge, would bash someone wildly, popular anywhere you could hit on a map with a dart.

I was joking about the popularity and ratings part. After all, in the grand scheme of things - just in this country alone - most people don't know who Dylan Ratigan or Glenn Beck are, let alone this website that talks about them. What MMFA is doing here is very insignificant with regards to its effect on the country's political direction.

I watched Dylan Ratigan today, and watch him pretty regularly. There are those on this website who would classify him as a REAL conservative, and not the phony conservatism that Fox promotes.

OK. That's great. I know nothing about Dylan Ratigan. I even agree with him that Beck was odd when he bashed on Born in the USA. Gasp! Me. Disagree with Beck! Absurd. From the way people describe I'm Beck's clone and couldn't possibly go against him in any way.

We never claim to be significant. That's your department. I just follow election results to find out where were headed. All I see coming form the right is different cults of personality preparing to fight to influence the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

The majority of the electorate punches a clock. They're a hell of a lot more savvy than the seniors declaring they don't want the gub'mint interfering in their Medicare, or the people carrying the idiotic signs at tea parties.

They decided in 2008 and Fox and their astroturf department has spent the time since then thwarting the will of the people.

If you turned off Fox, you'd know that.

<Bangs head on desk> Where do I begin with your post?
We never claim to be significant. That's your department.
No clue why you would say this. No clue why this is even here.
All I see coming form the right is different cults of personality preparing to fight to influence the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Yes. Heaven forbid regular citizens try to influence a presidential primary. You make it sound so utterly evvvviilll.
The majority of the electorate punches a clock.
Ooh, your first actual truthful sentence.
They're a hell of a lot more savvy than the seniors declaring they don't want the gub'mint interfering in their Medicare
Who's saying this? Like a handful of people with signs that MSNBC made sure to feature?
or the people carrying the idiotic signs at tea parties.
Because left-wing protesters never make idiot signs. Left-wing protesters were created to be perfect in every way. Indeed they were.
They decided in 2008 and Fox and their astroturf department has spent the time since then thwarting the will of the people.
Yes. That's why health care reform doesn't include a public option. It's all Fox's fault. I thought everything was Bush's fault?
If you turned off Fox, you'd know that.
I can read and listen to other news outlets AND watch FNC. They aren't mutually exclusive.

You lie! No, seriously. You're not correct in your statement. If you think you are correct then prove that FNC CONSTANTLY showcases seniors complaining about keeping government out of their Medicare. You said constant so I'm expecting at least 24 hours of video clips proving your point.

Beck had a sort of point. Springsteen did not intend for this song to be a great pro-America song. He didn't mean it, necessarily, as an ANTI-American song but definitely critical of the country's treatment of vets. In the context of the time, that sort of thing was almost considered unpatriotic, just like criticizing Bush was after 9-11.

Beck is still a ranting idiot and I know that's not how he meant it but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
