Hm. As Beck takes more and more heat, he keeps comparing himself to more important historical figures, probably as a way of saying "DISAGREEING WITH ME IS LIKE DISAGREEING WITH GEORGE WASHINGTON."

..He's all the way up to Moses, apparently. Keep up the trend, Beck. You'll be the second coming soon enough.

I remember when I first heard him mention his 9/11 exploitation garbage...I thought the 12 were going to be adapted from his time in AA.

Now he's some kind of deity?...

I think this sh!t is getting way over the top.

I actually hope he gets out of political misinformation and goes into the evangelical biz. He's there already. And the 9-12 project! Gee I almost forgot about that. Guess Massa embarrassment kicked him back into gear with the GLEN BECK ME ME ME ME ME projects...

Eh. Not really. At least not anymore than the entire LDS cult is blasphemous. On a related note someone once told me that the reason Joseph Smith had those visions was because the flour had cone moldy and he was tripping on something similar to LSD.

I recall a great book about one town that had infected grain, and pretty much the whole town went nuts one night.... but I don't see it at the local Library site, though I remember that's where I got it. It WAS years ago, though.

"Who Was Saved And Who Was Dead" by Barbara Comyns. One of my favorite writers. Unfortunately the only one of her books still in print is "The Vet's Daughter" (arguably her best.) I've been scrounging around for used copies and have about 9 of her books now. Currently reading "A Touch Of Mistletoe."

        Really???

Please point out the similarities, especially where the 10 Commandments mention the GOVERNMENT

The Code of Hammurabi also has a lot of "similarities" to the Ten Commandments and pre-dates them.

You really do have it bad, either that or you are so insecure that you come here to defend your own stupidity and blasphemy.

          You don't see the similarities?

"You shall have no other gods before Me."
          vs
"I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life."

"Honor your father and your mother."
          vs
          "The family is sacred"

"You shall not murder... commit adultery.... steal"
          vs
"If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it."

Those are called similarities. I can also see similarities between the Beatitudes and the 12 values but that will probably set you off even more. Here come the thumbs downs.

Guess what? I could sit here and come up with a list of things which are "similar" to the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes. What the HELL is that supposed to prove?

There's a difference between similarities in what they say and similarities in influence and cultural significance. Beck is not a major religious figure, despite the best efforts of people like you (who will, with no sense of irony, accuse anyone who disagrees with you of "drinking the Kool Aid").

"I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life."

***Ask Palin, Huckabee, Limbaugh, Beckie Boy, and Romney whether they will choose God over their millions? Furthermore, ask them why they charge people to hear what they have to say about the role of God in their lives.

"Honor your father and your mother."
            vs
            "The family is sacred"

**Ask Senators Vitter and Ensign whether they thought about this one when they were cheating with other women.

"You shall not murder... commit adultery.... steal"
            vs
"If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it."

***Ask Cheney, G. W. Bush and their crew whether they sleep well at night knowing that they sent their fellow citizens off to die in a needless war. While you're at it, ask them whether they feel bad about all of the Iraqis that died as a result of their actions. Find out why they don't have the guts to admit that they were wrong. Why aren't they in jail?

Those are called similarities. I can also see similarities between the Beatitudes and the 12 values but that will probably set you off even more. Here come the thumbs downs.

***The only suitable response to this is to point out that there is NO similarity between Jesus and Beckie Boy. Jesus would have never done what Beckie Boy is doing to this country.

Very well put. It is amazing how they hold others to such high standards that they themselves are unable to maintain. Just because there are similarities does not mean that they are in fact the same, or should be treated equally. There are many similarities between Catholics and Lutherans, but Catholics are still unsure if they would call Lutherans christian. There are many similarities between string theory and quantum mechanics, but because string theory cannot be tested, most scientist do not view it as a viable theory.

Beck and his followers do not seem meek, merciful or peacemakers They're more like those who would persecute the righteous.

Beck is a self-righteous, megalomaniac, with a messiah complex.

Bintx's list of things you should and shouldn't do:

        1. Love God
        2. Don't murder
        3. Stop lying.
        4. Obey your parents
        5. Don't fool around on your spouse
        6. Don't take things that aren't yours.
        7. Go to church
        8. Don't make statues that look like me.
        9. Don't say my name unless you mean it.
        10. Don't want my stuff.

Do you see the "similarities," Mag? I just wrote these, and I'm SOO intelligent because I thought them up all by myself. [snark]

I see a lot of similarities between Beck and a hypocrite. According to Beck the 8th principle...
        8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion. On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

Yet "Born in the USA" is un-American?? Beck and crew call Springsteen's "Born in the U.S.A." "anti-American"

Seriously, if you spew enough crap it eventually hits yourself. I can easily make up similar crap and say "Hold these dear" and it means nothing if you don't take it to heart. It doesn't mean anything to him it's an arbitrary rule to measure others not to apply to himself or his allies.

And the best thing is, the 9/12 Project Principles reflect Post-9/11 Thinking, which we know is vastly superior to Pre-9/11 Thinking.

We should just disregard anything written before September 11, 2001. It's a different world now, after all.
