One of the interesting things about the crucifix, some christians are opposed to using it as a symbol for Jesus. They use the 'fish' emblem instead.

What if I don't believe in god? Does that mean I have no rights? What if someone else's god says it's OK for him to kill me if I don't believe as he does? Does that mean it's OK for him to kill me? What about the Bill of Rights? Beck is always ranting about that but that didn't come from god.

        LOL!

The Founders despised democracy...and wisely so. It is the very worst form of gov't and always fails leading to a dictatorship.

That's why they even refused to use the word "democracy" in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

The US is a republic and the Constitution guarantees a republican form of gov't.

Easy The_Cat, they'd say America is a christian country so of course Islam, Jews and Atheists aswell as any other religions are tolerated in they're world and equals of course, they'd ideally have Beck holding the prophet Muhammad in a headlock on t.v saying "remember muslims, we own you".

Publisly they're open to all religions, as long as they know they're place in BJ Fan and Becks world, below them as a lesser religion.

But the U.S. Declaration of Independence specifically avoids mentioning "God". "Their Creator" could be God, Jehovah, Allah, Zeus, the Great Goanna Spirit or even "the Great Architect" (hint).

Agreed. We're born with them. But government can withhold people's ability to exercise the rights they were born with, and government can grant access to those rights.

Does that make sense? I'm thinking, as a for instance, the government originally withholding access for women to vote in elections, only to later grant "the right" (so to speak) to exercise the right to vote.

Yes, folks, protecting your rights is God's personal business. That's why we don't need to have a government at all. No military or police, no laws or right to counsel, none of it--just wait for people to attempt horrible acts of oppression and violence, and wait for God to step in and prevent it. Because His record is so good on this.

      I agree with Beck!
First we'll go to the offices of our Congress people and demand out rights! After that we'll march on down to the big corporations like Lehman, and Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs and demand that they...

What's that? No? We're not going to demand anything of the corporations? Just let 'em be? But Glenn, I thought you said that we controlled this country, and something about God and all that? Oh, the market will reset? Ok, can you just let me know when that happens then, cause I'd really like that

The part about the declaration of independence and the bible not standing up in a court of law. The part about our creator not doing crap for the thousands of americans that are dying because they dont have insurance. The part about acting like religion and government are interchangeable whenever it is convenient for beck to do so. The bible in fact tells that one is judged by how the treat the sick, the poor, the elderly, the weakest in society. That we should open our homes and hearts to those in need. Why does beck not talk about what the bible actually says instead of just talking about some nonexistent interventional type god that supposedly would come to earth and grant everyone health insurance if he deemed them fit. This is not reality - this is delusional. The government is acting because the insurance industry is a joke - god will not help in this matter. The only reason to look to god is to perhaps find some morality or humanity to realize why this is important for this country.. But of course, glenn completely misses the boat once again.

Where do you get the idea that God should exist to provide people with health insurance?

I mean - damn! He gave his Son to die for your sins and give you a free ticket to eternal life in paradise and this is the thanks He gets?

I think I understand now why He did that flood thing.

Reading comprehension is apparently not your forte. Sharp's post exhibited Biblical principles. His comment about health insurance was directed toward Beck's stupidity.

Incidentally, have you ever noticed that the phrase "endowed by their creator" in the DOI is immediately followed by the following: "That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed" ??

So, Mr. Beck, since we live in a democracy (or as someone else said before, a representive republic), and we don't live in a theocracy, we don't gain our rights from god (little g on purpose by the way). We gain our rights from our Constitution, which doesn't mention god at all.

As a matter of fact, if we did live in a theocracy, and had god's laws in place (what god is a matter of who has the majority, so let's assume a Christian god), you'd not have most of the rights that you currently have. Freedom to worship? Gone. Freedom of speech? Gone. And so on and so forth.
