How is one actually a "victim" of the healthcare industry? Because you can't pay for your own healthcare?

Because they have been priced out of the market, because they have been denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions, because their insurance company refuses to pay for treatment they decide is too expensive.

I lost my dad because he was in a car crash, his insurance would only authorize him to stay three days when the doctor wanted him to stay at least another week. He got an infection in his blood because of a punctured lung he had and died. If he had been in the hospital, they could have detected the infection soon enough. I lost my younger brother because he was epileptic, when he became an adult he was dropped from our parent's insurance and could not get any. He had a seizure and died, so yes people are victims of the healthcare industry. IDIOT.

"So? Why is that my problem? It wasn't MY dad who died. What do you want in exchange for the premiums you pay? Health Care? What a whiny baby you are."

So every single person with a job is expected to be able to handle every time the insurance company raises premiums by 40%? That's ridiculous.

Well, a young man I know has a chronic disease. He has insurance, for which he pays a lot of money. This past summer, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. After fighting the insurance company to cover the treatments his doctor prescribed [partially successful with the first appeal, unsuccessful with the second.] He has undergone a BMT now. When he recovers from the BMT, he will, most likely be dropped by his insurance company. With a history of cancer and his chronic disease [which requires daily medication], he will be "uninsurable." He will not be able to pay for his health care, so, you and I will be with higher health care costs. He's a victim of the health insurance industry . . . not the health care industry.

He watched his mother die because she was unable to get proper healthcare. He doesn't CARE about the freaking economy. The people who were exploiting this child were the hate/fearmongers on Fox/hate talk radio. They were using him to give a**holes like you someone convenient to hate . . . someone who just wanted to continue what he thought his mother would want him to do.

Boy, I'm glad you aren't part of my life. You sound like a real jewel.

The people who used his situation to trash their "enemies." Rush, Beck and the other haters on hate talk radio.

The young man was doing what HE WANTED TO DO when he met with Reid. He was not being exploited by the folks he was asking for help so that other 12 year olds didn't have to sit and watch their mothers die unnecessarily.

BTW, I don't know how many 12 year olds you've been around lately, but based upon your posts here, most of the ones I know would put you to shame as far as current events and intellect are concerned.

Get a clue, dave. Supporting the hate talkers doesn't make you a conservative, just a groupie.

Shadegg has said many times that when anyone goes to the doctor, their VERY FIRST QUESTION when a doctor tells them they need this or that test, this or that treatment, is "how much will this cost?" He's also said, many times, that the only way we can keep health care costs down is for each individual patient to keep their treatment options within their own personal budgets.

Maybe you need a heart transplant. But hey, you have to be practical. Can you really afford a heart transplant? Is it really fair to expect the insurance company you've been paying premiums to to cover such a procedure? For most people, doesn't it just make sense to do he sensible thing, and get your affairs in order, and say goodbye to your family?

This guy was elected to Congress HOW many times? I think it's kind of nice that cold-blooded ghouls have their own Rep in Washington, I guess.

No, here's a photo op classic. Remember this one, dave?

Today at the White House Easter Egg Roll, dozens of children “from the stricken Gulf Coast region serenaded First Lady Laura Bush with a song praising the beleaguered Federal Emergency Management Agency.” To the tune of “Hey Look Me Over,” the kids from Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama sang:

            Our country’s stood beside us
            People have sent us aid.
Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
            Congress, Bush and FEMA
            People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

This young man was not being exploited. He had been interviewed on several media outlets prior to being presented by health care reform proponents. He was there because he said he was carrying on something that his mother believed in . . . the people who have exploited this child for political reasons are the folks on Fox/hate talk radio. He was doing something he believed in . . . he loved his mother and wanted to do this for HER.

Sheesh. Why must EVERYTHING be political? Seriously.
