Why are capital gains and inheritance taxes so anathema to Republicans? Because the very richest benefit the most from having these taxes be low. I have never understood why using money to make money, or inheriting money that you didn't earn, that your father or mother or grandparent earned, why that money should be treated differently than money earned through employment? I hear, regarding inherited money, it has already been taxed, you shouldn't tax it again. Hey when your dad earned it it should be taxed, but when it get passed to the kids, they should pay a tax on it too. Perino said it's going to hurt small business. From the campaigned we learned that most small business owners make less than $250,000. Are they somehow particularly affected by capital gains taxes? I don't get it. I think it's all about the rich getting richer (there is a reason why sayings come into the vernacular!).

Well said. NPR did a story a while back about the Estate Tax. Several years ago, some rich guy hired a Conservative Think Tank to popularize the idea of repealing the Estate Tax, because he wanted to pass his vast fortune down to his children untaxed.

This Think Tank launched a campaign against the tax, enlisting the Republican Party to its cause and blessing us with all the "Death Tax" rhetoric we've been hearing ad nauseum for the past two decades.

They have successfully convinced half the country that repealing this tax is in their best interest, even though only about 2% will ever pay a dime.

i get the feeling sometimes that EVERYTHING hurts small business. and i don't think the right wings gives a hoot about SB in the first place. it's a shell game. say one thing, do another- enron- another small business that...never mind.

I think it's always useful to point out that when they say "small business" they're talking about businesses that employ 500 people or less. People tend to picture a husband-and-wife deli, but we're often talking about mega-million-dollar operations.

      Balanced and fair...

BTW, I am so terribly distraught that there will be a 4% capital gains tax on dividend and investment income of rich people it just makes me sick. <sarcasm>

Just remember, as soon as Healthcare Reform passes, we are no longer living in America. Beck sez so.

They mock Pelosi for her comment about loving Math, then spend the remainder of the segment... talking about Math.

Why is Doocy so angry and sarcastic all the time? Often, people that come to work always angry are having problems at home. Just sayin'...

Ohh poor poor rich people - sorry morons. Not buying it. I love how they need to know what the republican talking points are. TRICKLE DOWN ECONOMICS is a sham. Not all small business owners are wealthy. The wealthier people in america should be contributing to the healthcare of the poor. That number doofy quoted is dead wrong. It is not even a fixed figure - it depends on income, family size, employer or individual insurance and will be covered under the subsidy for people making up to 4 times the poverty level.
