Well, here are exerpts from the memo:
We have increasingly noticed how right-wing fringe media are trying to pick apart the CBO score. We cannot emphasize this enough: do not allow yourself (or your boss) to get into a discussion of the details of CBO scores and textual narrative. Instead, focus on only the deficit reduction and number of Americans covered.

... right-wing operatives and Republican sympathizers in the media .. are making a last-ditch effort to derail reform. Do not give them ground by debating details.

If the details of the CBO score are so concrete, and the details are so perfect for health care reform - why would you NOT want to get into a discussion about the CBO numbers in order to make everyone see they are good...and why would you NOT want to debate details? It would seem to me that if you're going to vote YES on the bill - you should WANT to tell everyone the good CBO news in FULL and debate the details in full that you're so proud of.

Because allowing the wingnuts to focus on the details will derail and slow down the process. Another words wingnuts will try to stall the bill again.

So lets not analyze the details, because if we do, it may stop the bill from passing? If the details do such a thing, then perhaps it should pass as is.

And seeing as how most of the bill doesn't start for 4 years, a few months isn't going to make much of a difference. There is a core set of pieces that cost zero dollars and are fully bipartisan that they could pass right now while they analyze the rest of the details (pre-existing conditions, etc).

Anytime someone tells me to not read or worry about something because it needs to be done quickly makes me skeptical and pretty much tells me not to sign it. Its like a banker telling you not to worry about the fine print on a home loan - because the main part of the deal says i get the loan, so don't worry about it.

This kind of nonsense will keep it "in discussion" for another decade. This issue has been debated for over a year. Many more if you count when Clinton tried to change the system. There is no point in holding more meetings to talk about it. Everything about this issue is available for all to read. Anybody in congress who hasn't read and researched this by now doesn't want to. It's time for the politics to end and the policy to start.

          Why?

Because discussions questioning the integrity, honesty, nonpartisanship, accuracy and excellence of the CBO are NOT honest discussions poised by someone actually interested in discussing that topic, but are instead talking points poised to dishonestly portray the CBO AND to avoid talking about the substantive things about this bill that can't be countered!

Gosh, that was easy. Make it tougher next time, okay?

The CBO numbers are in and of themselves a lie.

Doctor fix not in the bill. Ten years of taxation vs. six years of spending. Double counting medicare cuts. It is smoke and mirrors and accounting gimmicks. The same folks who said unemployment would not go above 8% if we passed the stimulus are now claiming spending $ 1 trillion (the real number will probably be $6 trillion) in a new entitlement will not increase the debt.

I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Anyone interested?

The CBO must accept whatever presumptions Congress tells it to. It is a garbage in - garbage out product. Example:

I plan to earn $100K/yr for the next ten years. I also plan to win an additional $1 million in the lottery in seven years. I will have $2 million in revenue over the next ten years. I plan to spend $200K/yr for the next ten years. Do my numbers add up?

CBO would say yes because they must accept my presumption that I will win the lottery at face value.

                  You're being silly.

When did Rachel Maddow ever "spout" Grayson's speech as being a straight forward recitation of facts?

LOL - they can't give the specifics. The entire bill with its amendments isn't even completed yet.

I'm talking about the reconciliation portion. We've had the CBO score for the Senate bill for a long time.

The house reconciliation bill was scored as well which will pass with the senate bill. That is the whole point of deem and pass. The senate bill with the reconciliation amendments will both be voted on by the house by sunday and both have been scored by the CBO today.

Then you will lose the votes of all the Stupak people. BTW, Jason Altmire is a NO!
