Who's in charge of the phone list?
Remember during the 50's when that guy was accusing everyone of being Lennonists? I think they called it McCartneyism.
We'll break up those commie Ringos by George!
:)
But really, you think the party that didn't even consider a single payer except for a few individuals is full of "progressives" or "liberals"? Maybe in comparison to you Teabaggers, but in the big picture, as far as policy goes, most will still support corporate interests over the individual.
1. In the quote that appears in the title, beck not only referred to the Democratic Party as the Democratic Party (rush and Rep. Boehner and others they always say "Democrat Party"), but he also differentiated between the Democratic Party and socialists. Previously those two things were the same thing, but now maybe they're not.
2. It was surreal and funny both, to see those two strange Republican Congresspersons just standing there in the video clip, quietly obedient, while beck pontificated his infinite wisdom to them. I'd say either beck has no respect for them (which makes sense considering who they are), or they have no respect for themselves, for them to stand at attention while glenn beck addresses them.
3. The crazy lady from Minnesota, she referred bluntly to the low esteem that Americans hold for Republicans, with her "opportunity for the Republican Party to redeem themselves" comment, in addition to confessing that Americans have had it with Republicans. The crazy lady's demeanor and words had defeat all over them, like as if she and beck and the other guy silently attending to it all, they've all three lost something, their nerve or their reputations or whatever.
Anyway, it was surreal, and amusing, it looks like these people are just now getting the memo, that nobody cares what they think, they could just dry up and blow away, and who would care?
1. Yes, Beck is making it a point to pretend that he doesn't hate Democrats, or even liberals, as much as he hates those wicked progressives (who are really commie-Nazis, you see). This is standard wedge issue stuff and an attempt to tarnish the progressive label, as liberal has been in the past. Conservatives have (rightly) had great fun at the expense of liberals who have fled the proud liberal banner to shelter under the less besmirched progressive standard. Beck is trying to force a second such retreat with his dishonest anti-progressive crusade.
To this end, Beck's even willing to call, albeit temporarily, the Democratic Party by its real name (you know, like how every elected Democrat calls the GOP by their real name). I guess we're supposed to swoon that he's showing us r-e-s-p-e-c-t.
He is laughing all the way to the bank. His listeners, to their grave.
