There are a lot of procedures that Medicare won't cover- that's why seniors need supplemental insurance, which is very expensive.

Medicare is good and absolutely essential. But it's not perfect, and having Medicare doesn't mean you are in the clear where it comes to treatment.

There is no question about that, however, Medicare has proven to be far more reliable in terms of coverage than have private health insurance companies. There are problems with the system, no one can deny that, but I don't hear too many seniors complaining about their overall experience with Medicare.

Who are the best who get the best healthcare in the world?

American senior citizens. The system works very well now, and won't go downhill because of HCR efforts in other areas. But the right has to fearmonger, because old people VOTE, and often vote Republican, partially because they themselves have become scared of change.

I heard about that on CNN. It is absolutely disgraceful. Republican leaders, if they had any integrity, would come out and denounce these idiots who stated those things, but they won't.

Don't be too hopeful. They only mentioned it once and haven't talked about it since. The nightly news will probably give the protestors 5 minutes of blanket coverage without mentioning the Lewis/Frank incident.

Maybe it'll wake 'em up. The right-wing talk radio precinct captains have been kicking their butts and our butts and the country's butt for decades now and they don't lift a finger it seems. This is their business, communicating with the electorate in a democratic republic, but they seem to prefer the status quo. Political malpractice.

When talking points collide. Perfect example follows:

In this same segment Cal also said:

"Obama says that under this bill that you would be getting only 1 test instead of 5. So what if that one test fails to pick up that life-threratening cancer you may have?
And why were you getting 5 tests? Because doctors feared lawyers' malpractice suits, and this bill has no provisions for tort reform to rectify that."

So which is it that will kill you, Cal? Healthcare reform or tort reform? Make up your mind.

Fear, fear, fear is all they got. Cal's attack on Healthcare Reform is illogical, if not down right stupid. Who on earth would believe this administration would advocate or allow such a policy that would deny a white woman care, under any circumstances, knowing they are under a microscope?
Like I said, all these hate-mongers have left is fear, fear, fear.

Another slap at medicare, the very program that republicans have been attacking and belittling since its inception. And the last time conservacons put up a fight like this ironically, was when they fought tooth and nail to prevent congress from passing medicare. How funny that they now care so much about the program they have so consistently despised?

So the GOP was for socialized medicine (because granny is on Medicare) before they were against it? If these clueless chicken pluckers could just pick a line of reasoning, we might be able to have a discussion. But that is the point. They don't want a discussion. They want Obama to fail. That is their endgame.

So that's that, Cal. Beat cheeks, you malingering dunce. You have nothing to offer, never did. Your side is entrenched in the politics of failure. And since nature abhors a vacuum, you shall be filled with people who want the country to succeed.

I first encountered Mr Thomas' output a few years ago. He struck me as a sort of patronising, oleaginous, old fart who seemed to have fallen asleep in the 1950s only to wake up around 40 years later resenting the progress that had left him behind.

Sad? Funny? Annoying? Maybe all three, but hardly an appropriate contribution by a major news publisher to the public discourse.
