Does it bother anyone that he is using all these war images? This is a call to violence. His side didn't get their way, so now they are planning to make war on us. He is the one who wants to destroy the country.

It certainly bothers me. Beck will probably be the first to deny responsiblity if someone takes arms after listening to him.

Notice how it's also chickenhawks like doughboy who just can't resist invoking military imagery. It's like small boys loudly playing army before their moms call them in for dinner. It's all self-aggrandizing, breast-beating, ritualized play-acting to them... just a pantsload of cynical cowards who attempt to embezzle the heroic images earned by others in order to better siphon off money and glory from a fearful and easily duped public.

This is a war. We are fighting the liberals for the soul of our country. War analogies and metaphors are perfectly appropriate.

Killing in self defense is morally justified. If someone breaks into my home I perfectly within my rights both morally and legally to shoot him.

Abortion and capital punishment are not morally justified. An innocent baby and a man behind bars are not a threat to anybody.

Self defense stops at death. Legally you may be in your rights but i doubt thta you could be morally.
And i asked that question because of how you are pretty much declaring open violent warfare on liberals. I wont be surprised when you start referring to liberal in cattle or animal terms.

OK, maybe if I put it in this context you will understand my position:

Sarah Palin is president and Michele Bachman is the VP. There are 300 conservatives in teh House and 70 in the Senate. Mike Pence or Marsha Blackburn is the Speaker and Jim DeMint is the Senate Majority Leader.

Sec. of State John Bolton is making plans to invade Iran. Treasury Secretary Ron Paul is repealing Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. AG Giuliani is rounding up Muslims. Palin issues an Executive Order authorizing oil exploration in national parks. She announces that the US will triple the amoung or carbon it emits into the atmosphere. COngress passes a law mandating CHristian prayer in school. Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Thomas, and the two right-wingers Palin nominated say the law is fine.

THere are plans to quit the UN and tell them to get out. Defense Sec Rumsfeld is back in power and authorizes teh waterboarding of each and every captured terrorist.

Surely, you would want to scream. You protest, you write letters, but everything falls on deaf ears and your are completely powerless to stop anything. You are conflicted between weeping and throwing up.

Think of the frustration you would feel in such a scenario. That is what I feel now.

Would you just go along, shut up, and say, "Oh well"?

Possibly, because the probability of that to hjappen is that of a comet striking the eiffel tower and leaving it intact. If that were to happen i would just become mad.
And the fact that you bring this impossible scenario must mean that this is how you see it all. You need a shrink.

It is unlikely. I was trying to construct what you would surely see as a horror scenario. In such a scenario you would undoubtedly be frustrated.

I am trying to explain to you why I am not going to just shrug my shoulders and say "oh, well". I am going to attend Tea Parties. I drive 5 hours to teh Capitol to protest. I write letters. I contribute money to conservative candidates. I try to convince as many people as I can that Obamacare will prove disastrous for our country.

I want Obama to fail and if I can play a 0.00000001% role in this, I will be proud.

AS a said, in such improbable scenario i would go mad before it recahes its (illogical culmination).

So you would be proud of sabotaging somebody's attempt to do something. You going around telling that "Obama-care" (here's a small tip, Obama didn't write or author any of the bills, Congress did and followed some of his guidelines) will ruin us all before it even written down is nothing but pure dishonesty and pathological hatred.

You can not know the outcome of an event that has never happened. and i persnoally hope for the best, that this healthcare bill at least solves something and it it doesn't well that would suck.

Limbaugh said Obama's plan was to get the ENTIRE middle class on welfare. Now how does that make sense since they are the only ones paying taxes?

If by greener, you mean down the halls of irredeemable envy and greed, yes, very green. With the GOP, it's all about power as a means to an end. This victory for Obama and the Democrats shall keep them in the minority for two decades or longer and they know it. I love the smell of extreme desperation and imminent extinction, any time of day will suffice.

Beyond the extremism and insanity, isn't it a bit odd to compare the Speaker of the House to our two greatest Presidents? Yeah, Pelosi isn't Lincoln, but she's also not the president.

I guess they couldn't compare Obama to Lincoln, since some might actually take it as an endorsement of the Obama presidency.

The sad thing is I think he thinks that the picture of Washington is a photograph. Moreover, the Gettysburg Address, as great as we think it is today, wasn't really considered to that great of a speech in the day. Lincoln wasn't even the main attraction at Gettysburg that day. Beck, of course, wouldn't know these little bits because he knows nothing about history that he hasn't picked out of his oversized butt.

Doughboy also forgot to mention just which corporation... just which private entrepreneur... it was that put an American on the Moon. Certainly it couldn't have been the Federal Government, because, as Dreck loves to constantly remind us, government is inherently incapable of successfully running any program. Government could no more put a man on the Moon than they could operate a health insurance program. ;0)

How is passing health care not fighting for an idea, not fighting for values and pledging our money to support our morals, how is it not going to help every American have a better life? This guy needs to get some real perspective on what he thinks is good and evil, on what will help Americans and what doesn't. He thinks that he is so insightful pointing out that an historic event isn't always good, but I know many middle schoolers who have figured that out themselves.

Glenn - you fill an important role in this political paradigm shift. your delivery is miscalculated and capricious, yet sometimes (and I mean that loosely) the bigger picture is more poignant than the pundit delivering it, but comparing military honor with legislative levity? lest we forget the alluring casualness of the Bush brood or the calm and collected composure of Reagan in the face of constitutional misplacement. there's a sense of superficiality to politicians, we get it, Glenn, but we need to stop waxing nationalistic nostalgia and start looking forward to communal, reflected-upon reform. the truth of the matter is that this issue doesn't divide party lines by any means, there is no social component to the raw truth that the AMERICAN medical system is crawling toward an inevitable crushing, there is no metaphor here, no macrocosmic symbol of a greater depth, it is a casualty to the ebb and flow of a capitalistic construct, and your role, Glenn, is to give your audience the cold hard facts, and I don't mean dates of historic battles or years of publication to thomas paine's bathroom reader, I'm talking about becoming the only man on television willing to give the American people the unguarded, unbridled truth.

What exactly is his point again? Is it that this historic moment isn't as historic as others, (as if though this were some sort of historic moment beauty contest) and therefore it isn't noteworthy and we should just pay attention to him? Or, is his point that because other "historic moments" ended up being bad in retrospect, this moment will undoubtedly be one of those?
