More like health care retardation. Are you so proud of your dear leader's "accomplishment" that you will ignore the unconstitutionality of this new "law of the land," let alone the blatant bribery that it took to achieve it? Despite what the POTUS and his minions say, the process is important. And what happened in the last couple of weeks was completely disgusting. Congratulations to you and your ilk on your "accomplishments."

Actually, I found his Freudian slip quite amusing.

In quoting Ghandi, which he never did get quite right, he mistakenly said...

        "Use truth as your ammo..."
I got a big kick out of that one... along with his continued use of quotes from a progressive like the Mahatma.

Beck, along with Giuliani is constantly using the tragedy of 9/11 as a comparison to other, non-related, political instances to invoke fear and incite violence. Using 9/11 for personal gain is not okay. Stop trying to pretend you don’t see what is offensive here.

Our leadership now is continuing to push for a cap and trade bill which will raise our energy prices and of course limit our own oil production
Is anything wrong with this statement? Will the cap and trade bill lower or raise our energy prices?
          We must be independent!
Do you have a problem with that statement as well or do you disagree with it?
There are long term principles that will solve these issues
Is this bad, too? He's referring to recovering from our debt crisis that WILL eventually destroy us.

I do not think Beck was referring to the debt crisis at all in this clip.

Our leadership now is continuing to push for a cap and trade bill which will raise our energy prices and of course limit our own oil production

Energy prices will rise regardless of the Cap-and-Trade.

            We must be independent!

Cap-and-Trade is not just environmental legislation, it is also meant to lessen our need for fossil fuels. Which would lead to more energy independence.

I did not consider this hateful rhetoric from Beck, just irrational.

            Yeah, we should be independent.
If I was in Congress I would propose a bill along the lines of this.
            I. In 2010 we start drilling oil in the US
II. In 2011 we end our purchase of foreign oil.
III. Invest x million dollars into green renewable and reusable resources.
IV. From 2011-2021 ween off oil.
            V. Offer tax breaks to businesses who have low gas emissions.

We are dependent on foreign countries for our oil, we have been for a long time now, and we will be for many years to come. This insistence on being "independent" is pure fantasy, typical Glenn Beck unreal rhetoric.

Mag, I notice that, among all the quotes from the clip you provided, you didn't include Beck's claim that HE is going solve some of our issues. I don't blame you; it's an incredibly egotistical thing to say. Ever further reason to shun Beck.

Cap and trade doesn;t limit drilling, it limits oil consumption. And that should and will not be the crux of the bill. The main issue is producing our own alternative energy, not searching out our last drop of oil. ALTERNATIVE ENERGY - solar, wind, biofuel, electric, water, nuclear. We need to be self-reliant but there are two ways to do this - drill our own oil until the last drop is consumed and then, rely even more heavily on the middle east or produce alternative energy and use it efficiently.

It allots carbon credits. You can buy more cardon credits to pollute more, or you can sell your carbon credits to other companies if your company pollutes less.

yea i know, carbon credits allowing for limited oil consumption and limited production of pollution. It has nothing as far as I know to do with more or less drilling. At least the cap and trade part. But the rest of the bill and the wide majority of it, has nothing to do with cap and trade. Cap and trade is supposed to be a minor aspect - its the equivalent of the provision in the healthcare reform that allows those up to 26 years old to stay on parents plan. It is meaningful but not by any means the crux of the bill. I dont know why the media insists on calling it the cap and trade bill. That would be like calling healthcare reform, the 26 year old stay on parents plan bill. Its ridiculous - it should be called energy reform because its not about limiting use of oil as much as it is about massively expanding production of energy from other sources and implementation of this. The cap and trade is incrementally bringing down oil consumption thereby making it more expensive while supplementing other forms of energy that are cheaper to take the place of burning fossil fuels. The whole point is some mechanism to allow for this transition - to make it cost effective for american businesses while ceasing the reliance on foreign oil and eventually all fossil fuels.

I listened to Beck today on the radio with my 83 year old lifelong Republican Dad, who has this channel permanently on his gas guzzling Monte Cristo Living Room Car. And even my DAD is starting to snort at Beck! He's quoting Ghandi? Back peddle galore - and his backpeddling after pishing off the Christians is amusing too (I think even Dad was shocked at that slam). He's so all over the place - wheres the 912 project, btw? He needs to go into Evangelical Television where people dont care how crazy you are but if you're losing your base (someone said here once 17 or 75), you're in trouble. Don't tell me to Pray to your golden plates or whatever thing you find convenient. I do pray to the REAL spirit of Ghandi, MLK, and Jesus, that we don't actually watch him have a nervous breakdown on TV, and that some of his psycho followers really do damage.

Considering how many Americans die each year because they don't have health insurance, I'd say that opponents of HCR are much more like anti-American terrorists than advocates of reform. If any more violence happens following this vote and god forbid it won't be another Oklahoma City bombing with innocent americans and their children murdered, Fox News is going to be targeted! They've got a network full of loons fanning the flames but this Glenn Beck is really ramping up the violence/killing/terrorism against his own country talk with the full backing and support of Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch and if ANYTHING happens we, sane Americans need to descend on Fox News headquarters like a swarm of hornets and hold the bastards accountable. If they want war they'll get it.
