ELEANOR GIUSTI: Greg has -- frequently gets in with a group of people that have really radical ideas and that are not consistent with myself or the rest of the family and -- which gets him into problems. And apparently I would say this must be another one that somehow he's gotten onto either by -- I'd say Fox News or all of those that are really radical, and he -- that's where he comes from.

Imagine that...they seem like such peaceful people at FOX. I couldn't imagine how a crazy person would get riled up watching FOX.

The FCC can't touch Fox News.

We need to go after Comcast Cable and The Dish Network.

If the KKK had their own Cable Network we would be all over the Cable Companies.

            What is the difference?

It's my understanding that the FCC has Jurisdiction over the Free airwaves.

ABC, CBS, NBC, Public Television, Radio Stations & The Internet.

But if i'm wrong i'm more than willing to admit it.

Bad News, the complaint form specifically refers to Broadcast (TV & Radio), Cable and Satellite, so, yes, they have authority in certain categories.

Leftofwhat, mouse over the category which refers to "Unauthorized, unfair, biased, illegal broadcasts (does NOT include Obscene, Profane or Indecent material)" You'll see a description of the different subcategories listed. One is "biased or distorted news stories by the media." That pretty much fits the bill.

                  I have filed complaints before.

One is "biased or distorted news stories by the media."
unfortunately, there is case law that is legal precedent that Fox News has the right to lie in their coverage of the "news," and that they do not have to present facts.

That was a Fox affiliate and, from what I've read of the case, it's not so cut and dried.

Well, as it's been in the last few years, the FCC only seems willing to step in when Brent Bozell and his loyal PTC minions have gotten their skivvies all knotted up over cartoon characters or musical performers that drop a casual F-bomb, or experiencing wardrobe malfunctions.

Now, talk show hosts who constantly use terms like, "danger," "Armageddon," and "revolution," they've got no problem with.

But Stewie Griffin, oh yeah, he's a problem.

The scary part is CNN is leaning more to the
right with its new hires in a desperate bid for ratings.
They create all this rage with no regard for its affects to our
      society, just their profit margin

Lock them all up, try them, convict them, and give them a minimum of 10 years in prison. I'm tired of this mess. The far right-wingers need to be given a strong message.

Furthermore, I hope there are too many police and FBI agents, preferably undercover, to count in VA on April 19.

Aren't there any incitement statutes in the U.S.?

How about trade practices laws against FNC describing itself as a "News" channel - surely misleading?

I think Uncle Rupert has lost the plot. This appalling nonsense is a far cry from the man who forced a Royal Commission into the Max Stuart case as Proprietor of the Adelaide News back in 1958. A landmark event in that it publicly questioned the police attitude to Aborigines.

Whilst it did not lead to the overturning of the conviction it did save Stuart from the gallows and he was eventually paroled in 1974 and as recently as 2002 Murdoch was enquiring as to how Stuart was faring in Alice Springs.

How this humanity and courage can co-exist with the incendiary and paranoid rantings of his media empire (the U.S. arm is by far the worst) is one of the great mysteries of our time. I daresay it has more than a little to do with money.

Like his father, Sir Keith, Rupert has long been a compulsive meddler in public affairs. Until his involvement in the U.S. he picked and chose issues - totally unbound by formulaic ideology. In recent time his empire has been enthralled by the Knownothing element of the U.S. politics.

Such a sad end for a man of great potential.

There you go, those are the only two reasonable and legal responses here.

It just plays into their hands when calls go up to "silence them"...and it should. A free society should not be contemplating how to silence the voice of the opposition, no matter how blatantly false or disgusting the spew from that voice is.

On the other hand, if everyone complained to the advertisers who make the programming on Fox so profitable for Newscorp, perhaps that would make a difference. They've shown conclusively that they are a company only in business to make a (mega)buck, obviously delivering honest and truthful news stories to consumers is not anything that is important to their agenda. They already have to be wondering how much sense it makes to continue to run Beck's rantings when all his major advertisers have pulled out.

Aside from that, the best defense is to do exactly what MMFA does every day. Expose their lies and fear-mongering for exactly what they are.

Oh, it's okay. Nobody has to worry... there are always a couple of nutjobs threatening to kill politicians, right? It happens. So I guess this is number 11 since HCR passed? What are we going to do if number 12 or 13 completes their promise? I'm sure Fox News will just blame the evil progressives for it.
