Obama has promised all these entitlements? How about naming one? Does he mean promised that none of them will disappear? Im sorry but healthcare reform does not have entitlements in it. By mandating that people pay for insurance, it is more like the opposite of an entitlement - it is forcing people to be more responsible for their health, not less - i would have agreed with the mandate if they bill had a public option.

You do know that there are going to be tax credits for poor people to pay for their health insurance right? I mean, they couldn't afford it before the bill was signed. I don't think they have a better job this month. So they probably can't afford it now either. So if you want to bandy semantics I guess we could say that this is a health insurance plan payed for by the individual policy holder by means of a tax credit, or we can just call it an entitlement.

Do you have any problem with the statement: "it (government) is forcing people to be more responsible for their health,"?

So...does this mean that Hispanic citizens must now dress like yuppies to avoid being stopped and harrassed by police? Weejuns and button down collar Oxford cloth shirts?

Yep. In fact, I remember one in the Tucson area that used to have an annual Regatta.. but apparently they disbanded.

No. I think just showing the officer your driver's license or state I.D. when you're asked should suffice.

Well, if a white guy doesn't think there's anything wrong with racial profiling, I guess that settles it.

Do any of these yahoos realize that the first US citizen that is demanded to show their "papers" is going to preety much bankrupt the state with a lawsuit that every card carrying member of the ACLU will be part of? And, not if, but when, this case reaches the Supreme Court, it's going to found in violation of Fourth Amendment?

In that case, I propose we start profiling white wingnut anchors and contributors to a certain rightwing-leaning "fair and balanced" fake news channel . . . numerous comments made by these individuals border on sedition . . .

Swedes do not enter this country illegally. We have to profile people who do come here illegally. There is nothing wrong with profiling. The AZ bill probably will lead to profiling and that is a good thing.

Swedes may not reside in our country illegally, but Irish do. I therefore implore that everyone write their representatives and senators to demand that we begin profiling creepy Irishmen with suspicioulsy abundant time to troll internet boards.

          1) I have a plenary indulgence so I have nothing to worry about.

          --BJ Fan, April 23

BJ Fan believes he can say and do anything he wants, because he's got a magic chant which erases his sins. He's not a Christian. More like a Wiccan, really, except that the Wiccans I know are decent, sincere people, and we'd never use those words to describe this creep.

People who are here illegally DO have rights. the Constitution applies to ALL people in this nation, whether or not they are citizens. In point of fact, the Constitution speaks of the rights of 'persons', rather than citizens. Jesus H. Christ, man... you consistently seem to miss even the most elemental aspects of out legal structure when they don't conform to your hate-filled elitist presumptions.

Beyond the protections of the Constitution, people (whether they're here legally or not) inherently possess HUMAN rights... rights that exist beyond the ethical, moral, or legal authority of ANY government, law, system, or document to deny.
