Let's see, this law is an attempt to deal with illegal immigration, immigration by Mexicans (i.e. brown people), so in order to enforce this law you have to target...Well, as usual, logic escapes these people.

Do Mexico's laws prohibit racial profiling?

Reglamento de la Ley General de Poblacion — the General Law on Population enacted in Mexico in April 2000, which mandates that federal, local and municipal police cooperate with federal immigration authorities in that country in the arrests of illegal immigrants.

Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony, punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to re-enter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six-year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.

The law also says Mexico can deport foreigners who are deemed detrimental to "economic or national interests," violate Mexican law, are not "physically or mentally healthy" or lack the "necessary funds for their sustenance" and for their dependents.

What does Mexico's immigration have to do with ours? In case you didn't know Mexico has problems with illegal immigrants coming from central America on their way through Mexico to the U.S.

Because some of the most vocal opponents of the Arizona law are in the Mexican government, including the president.

Wow. I hate all of you. You people are so stupid, it's driving me mad.

IT seems that race is all we know in America. Atomic bombs could be getting smuggled across the border by terrorists posing as Mexicans, and someone one the left would say that we are racial profiling if we tried to stop it.

Our society is doomed, and it seems that I will be forced to watch.

You morons on the right conflate drug smugglers and gangsters who are sneaking into the country with poor Mexican peasnts who come here illegally to get honest work. The latter work their dark-skinned butts off, assume otherwise unwanted jobs, and help our economy. They should be given consideration. The gangsters should be prosecuted to the fullest.

You idiots also cannot grasp that the law is offensive not so much for what it does to illegal aliens but it throws some American citizens and legal immigrants into the targeted class of people...and they will be harassed.

If the law was so benign why did they just amend the hell out of just a couple of days ago? They screwed up big time with this racist piece of garbage of a law. Even the sheriff of the most active smuggling area says it's racist and unnecessary.

I agree that illegal immigration is wrong and should be stopped. But I don't agree with creating a law that allows police to stop and interrogate anyone they "think" is illegal. Racial profiling already occurs so much that we don't need to make it a lawful requirement.

Again you are way late about knowing that. Most laws in this country was passed because of fear. Mostly racial motivated!

Example: Jack Johnson went to jail for crossing state lines with a white woman. Before then their was no law, but out of fear of a black man being the world boxing champion, the white establishment made up a law called: The White-Slave Traffic Act of 1910! Jack Johnson was the first one tried! FEARMONGERING! It continues today. You cause fear and you can get any law passed! Example again: Arizona!

That's not what the law says, Dork. And it allows for a police officer to approach someone for a simple violation of a city ordinance or suspicion of violation of a city ordinance. They can approach a house where it is reported that there are too many unrelated people living there. The problem is, though, that this law allows and encourages LEOs to approach a specific ethnic group and ask for verification of citizenship. If I, as a blue-eyed blonde, were suspected of violating a city ordinance, I would, most likely, NOT be asked for proof of citizenship.

If you don't understand the law, you shouldn't be attempting to defend it.

So, Irony, since they are both "sneaking" in, how do we differentiate? Maybe those looking for honest work should get in line, maybe we should reform "legal" laws to allow them in quicker, or maybe some US citizens need to realize that "unwanted" jobs may be a way for them to advance themselves in this country. BTW, what is an "unwanted" job? I may have held one or two or more of them growing up in order to make the $$$ necessary to get a better education and therefore a better "station" in life.

I wonder if the people who crafted this law would be so trusting of "probable cause" if it were applied, say, to their gun collections.

"Sorry sir, but we need to come in and search your house for guns, and then you need to provide us with your permits and documentation stating that you are legally permitted to possess them."

Their arguments are similar to those used by the Bush Administration.

      http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2010/apr/28/john-huppenthal/arizona-immigration-law-requires-police-see-crime-/

"The passage in the law citing racial profiling does provide some protection, as does the difficulty of defining a profile for illegal immigrants that could pass legal muster, but the law leaves open several possibilities for police questioning individuals without seeing or suspecting a specific crime. So we rate Huppenthal's statement False."

No. The House passed its bill, the Senate passed theirs. In order for the House to pass the Senate bill, they required some amendments . . . nothing unusual with that at all. Happens all the time. There were a couple of clarifications which were made after the law was passed, again, nothing unusual.

The difference is that the Arizona legislature made their changes because the blatant racism contained in the law made it ripe for serious abuse.

So Hannity, high school grad, and Coulter, writer of illogic, have collectively more of a knowledge of the constitution then the president and Hillary Clinton, who are both sharp people who have law degrees and who have practiced law. Even if the president is incorrect, he can still put forth an opinion--just as Hannity and Coulter are doing--two people who have shown a disdain for science and who have spewed forth illogical ramblings on and on.
