What a positive message to send off the new grads "Life is hard, then gets harder and then you die." This guy is a sicko to the nth degree.

      Like a mussel?

Secreting a glue and sticking to the same spot for the rest of your life? I guess that would describe Beckerheads.

Cabs smell worse in the summer?

Random thoughts and Words of wisdom.

I guess we were fortunate to be spared the video.

"Life is hard. Then it gets harder. Then you die." And if it gets too hard and you put that pistol to your head, just remember what Glenn Beck told you: "Shoot to kill".

Truly, these are inspiring words for these grads as they set out on life's journey.

I still have to ask this question, why is Beck entertaining? I have seen his show and I see nothing that is appealing on any level. Seeing that guy perform is as electrifying as running an electric current through a dead frog. Yes the legs twitch but there is no brain doing the work.

Beck: "Anyone who wants to take your choice away is evil..." Does this include a woman's right to choice regarding her reproductive process?

"Learn to love those you don't know or may not like." The way you love Barack Obama, Glenn?

Beck's obsession with Wilson just seems so arbitrary and blank-slatey that I have my suspicions he just woke up and decided to make a boogeyman of whatever Wikipedia's Article of the Day was. If he'd made the decision a day later we'd be hearing about the evil progressive agenda of the Trobriand Islands.

. . . I think he woke up from a dream where Bill Wilson (AA) gave him a white light experience, and in that early morning hangover fog he kept saying "Wilson, Wilson, Wilson al a Tom Hanks in "Cast Away"

By mid morning he came to an aha moment, Woodrow Wilson! and he took off on this spiritual journey . . . and the rest is history.

        Beck's daughter: "Yeah."
df: "Is he drunk or what?"
        bd: "Yeah."
        a pause
df: "Um, so, was that 'yeah' to drunk, or 'yeah' to what?"
bd: "Both. Excuse me, I've got to go do something."
Ten minutes pass, followed by the sound of a single gunshot.

Had this rambling, crazed speech been delivered by Nancy Pelosi, the preceding skit would've been acted out on Glenn's radio show, with the appropriate corrections made so that it applied to Speaker Pelosi and not Glenn Beck.

However, since Beck did it, my posting of this skit is completely inflammatory, over the top, unacceptable hyperbole, and an immediate apology should be demanded from me, in public. Preferably with weeping and a promise never to do it again. And I will. Just as soon as Beck apologizes for laughing about pretending to poison Speaker Pelosi's wine.

Four minutes and 44 seconds of empty, disjointed cliches and creepiness. It sounded like an awful wedding toast. Throwing out a cliche without defining it, providing context or applying it is lazy, and frankly stupid.

He starts off with a vague comment about those taking "choice" away, yet that's what he preaches with his anti-abortion rants.

He talks about forgiving, but his thoughts about Woodrow Wilson never leave.

He talks about labels being meaningless, but can't go a day without comparing Obama to the Nazis.

Finally, date someone who loves you as much as I do? The word love means something, Glenn. In fact, its probably the strongest emotion on earth, but its not trite. Love grows with familiarity, intimacy and knowledge. You don't love those students like you claim. You just don't/

Finally "shoot to kill?" You're a psycho.

        either:
Isaiah 52:7 - How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

        or:
Romans 10:15 - And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

It's like he spent one hour preparing this speech. It's nothing but a continuous string of about 100 cliches with no main theme. Intellectual pablum, mental chicken soup, empty platitudes, rambling incoherence, stream of consciousness, random quotes, unassociated bible verses, punctuated by ill-timed bouts of crying,... and then comes this: "shoot to kill"????

That was my WTF for the day. What did he say? "Shoot to kill"? Who? Why? When? What inspires a man to say such a thing to young freshly enlightened minds still trying to process everything they've just been taught? Beyond the pale lunacy.

He's completely shifted from his original libertarian roots that he claimed he was so loyal to while on CNN...thanks to the almighty dollar. Take a step back and listen--really listen--to what he is saying. He thinks people would like to kill him (whatever--this stuff is comedy gold). He thinks that there is some sort of global conspiracy. he doesn't understand the basic differences--very profound differences--between socialism, communism, and nazism/fascism. He's a multi-millionaire who claims that he understands what it's like to be an ordinary joe. Whack job.

        What our grandparents taught us?

Mine raised children through the Great Depression. They didn't lose much because they had nothing to lose. They saw FDR as one of our greatest presidents and the one responsible for leading them through hard financial times.

They saw their sons answer the call to fight fascism in Europe and the beaches and waters of the Pacific. Their daughters worked long hours in munitions factories to do their part in the war against fascism.

They taught their grandchildren empathy, compassion and most of all an appreciation for what it means to be an American.

In short, my grandparents would be called fascists by Beck, even though their sons risked everything fighting against real fascism in WWII or communists even though their grandsons risked all fighting communism in South East Asia.

Glenn Beck is an ill-informed, cowardly religious fraud. He's risen to a position of power and wealth on the backs of the people whose troubles he's ridiculed throughout his shock jock radio career which he's now turned into a daily political screed, attacking everything my grand parents, parents and I have fought against our entire lives.

I've had the best modern history teachers in the world, the people who actually lived it. How dare you or Beck come here and push your alternative reality on those of us who've actually taken part in that history?

"Someone you meet today is afraid or suffering. Find them. Find them everyday and comfort them. Shoot to kill."

Shoot *whom*? The afraid and/or suffering?

Here's some funny info on Liberty's President:
      http://www.alternet.org/news/146797/christian_right%27s_favorite_muslim_convert_exposed_as_jihadi_fraud/

Apparently this guy has been masquerading since 2001 as a terrorist who converted to Christianity. The idiots at Liberty made him the President of the university.
      Ha.

What a pig. He knows nothing about Christianity. He is a racist bigoted pig. Putting lipstick on him and letting him pretend to cry doesn't make him any less the PIG.

Why didn't his daughter graduate from Brigham Young University??

..and "shoot to kill"???...don't think this would have been allowed at BYU.

The unraveling of the false prophecy of Glenn Beck should be abundantly clear to any whose level of discernment is third grade or higher.

This guy seems very much to be hoping to go down in flames like his theological hero Joseph Smith.

Beck is expert at meandering the crossroads between political/theocratic propaganda and religious psychosis.

I'm hardly shocked that Liberty chose to call on Beck as a speaker. That "school" loses more credibility as an institution of higher learning every day.

Otherwise, were Beck asked to speak at any commencement I was a part of I simply wouldn't show up. To hell with him.

Glenn Beck has offspring? Yikes! At least Rush Limbaugh didn't procreate. Not that he was able to.

I don't understand how any college would allow this former disc jockey to be a commencement speaker.

It's not a real college, it's Liberty University. It helps to be ignorant there.

If you are ignorant enough, and want to stay that way, it even has a program (which appears to be available only as a minor -- perhaps a nod to getting accredited) in creation studies:

        http://www.liberty.edu/academics/arts-sciences/creation/index.cfm?PID=9821

It looks like they're trying to pretend to the outside world that it is something other than a science program, but they teach it as scientific, albeit biblical, truth.

This is not an academic institution.
