leroy Gingrich proclaimes himself to be a civil war historian.Leroy Gingrich calls the president Nazi,Stalin, socialist, because the words are short for his target audience.Leroy Gingrich thinks this provides him cover, and makes him seem main stream, since his base cares nothing about the people Nazi Germany stepped on.Well Leroy others cam play your game too. With a middle name Leroy does Leroy Gingrich, have black people in his family,or the tendicies of black people? Hey Leroy!!!!!!

Didn't Newt help torpoedo Scarborough's short-lived career in Congress...or was that Tom DeLay?

Regardless, good for Scarborough for calling out Gingrich.

I was really surprised how long he kept it going, this was a real, personal attack. Whatever it was, something turned the cream in his coffee, Mika rolled her eyes, he was really on a tear. But I agree, anything that keeps Newt out of power is a good thing.

Maybe Newt's book and latest comments will show how far he is to the right and how low he is willing to go to court the extreme elements of the Republican party.

Could he possible be courting "political gold" from the Wizard of Wasilla?

One of the biggest scams in recent politics has been the peddling of Newt Gingrich as some kind of intellectual. So, he taught a history class... Big F***ing Deal. He's a lying, partisan Toad.

true, i love history and hope myself to teach it someday......a number of my professors from college have screamed at me saying that by not teaching im wasting my life. partly because in certain classes where we acted as teachers for the day i used some very unorthodox methods but everyone loved it.

That means Bill O'Reilly lies when he gives his historical view. But the word is his-story.People at fox news think giving the history of something means tell your own lie.

A free copy of the first chapter of Newt's latest book is available on his website, so one can read it and not support him.

There is an absolutely breathtaking number of errors, mistakes, mis-statements, and just lies in that chapter alone.

His opening paragraph has two howlers!

I must conclude he has absolutely no idea what he's writing about (and one of his points is so obscure I don't think any reader will, either) - or he is peddling disinformation.

Out of no where comes the AA 12-Step Program to prove we need prayer in schools - as if that is illegal.

      That book is a joke.

this kind of talk has become "chic" in republican media circles. you're considered an obama sympathizer if you don't call him hitler or stalin. does anyone remember the outrage when moveon.org did a web ad comparing bush to hitler?? it was widely criticized in the media, by both liberal and conservative media outlets. the ad was then pulled. that was one ad on one website (for maybe one week). compare that to what is happening to obama. he is called hitler and/or stalin by beck and limbaugh on a daily, sometimes hourly, basis. scarborough is right (something i don't normally say)! it's SICK!

I think it just plain ridiculous. Very few people today remember what it was like living under either Hitler or Stalin. Those regimes (THOSE were actually regimes. Obama's administration? not so much). The brutality, the mistrust, the constant drive to root out and turn people against each other, the killing - as bad as things are in our political environment, we can't even touch the levels that existed in Germany or the USSR.

These clowns that call Obama a Nazi or Stalin do a tremendous disservice to history, and furthermore I find it incredibly disrespectful to the people who did live and suffer under those dictators. As a supposed history professor, Gingrich should know better than to throw these highly charged claims around like they were candy. He desensitizes his minions to the tragedy that actually occurred during and immediately after the war - something a historian should never, ever do. He is nothing but a joke.

I saw Rachel vivisect Dr. Paul last night, and it was beautiful.

Of course, the Troglodytes will whine that Rachel did a "hatchet job" on him, but all she did was ask him a simple question, and he couldn't answer it.

This is why it is such nonsense when people try to compare Rachel to the lying hacks like Hannity, Beck and Limbaugh. They yammer on about Nazis and Stalinists and the end of civilization; Rachel just lets her guest hang himself with his own words. Classic.

One thing you can say about Newtie... he's a political animal, and he sees which way the sewage is flowing. In the current atmosphere, the only way to survive in the Republican Party is to embrace the Teabaggistan Hysteria. The few remaining moderates will either be purged or relegated to the sidelines.

Newtie could easily try to be a "voice of reason" amidst the insanity, but he knows he can't win the nomination in 2012 without Troglodyte support.

Too true... but this will result in the eventual dissolution of the GOP; this whole "real America" business cannot be sustained, being false from the outset, and even its vestiges are being washed away in inevitable diversity.

Alas, the death of the GOP doesn't help anybody.
