this woman, geller, is nothing but an intolerant racist who disguises her bigotry with words like "tolerance" and "understanding". She was on Joy Behar show and was called out for multiple lies by a representative of the Muslim center. Here she repeats her rehearsed talking points again but with no one on the other side to call out her pathetic falsehoods, only a intellectually challenged dimwit bleach blond.

I wonder if she'd consider the Atheist Bus Campaign as falling under "Religious Freedom."

Why even begin to call her out. She is a joke plain and simple

Stabbing Americans in the eye? I'm sure the majority of people attending worship at that mosque will be Americans too. Isn't Islam a religion? Don't we all have freedom to practice our own religion in this country? This idea of equating a religion with an ethnicity and demonizing an entire ethnic group is completely rediculous. Using that logic we can make arguments against the Catholic Church. We could say it's a fanatical religion that spawned what has become the italian mafia, an organization that has reaked havoc on American soil for a century. The argument can bring up all of the hot button issues. Immigration, crimes against personal property, crimes against humanity, and corruption. While the mafia was addressed, the fact that the majority of its members belonged to a religion that took its orders from one man in a pointed hat that controls his own small army was never seen as relevent. However, Islam is demonized because of a few looney murderers who happen to be muslim. 10 points to the person who knows why such a contradiction of logic is present in America.

I think this whole episode points out the need for freedom FROM religion. It makes you want to check a calendar to make sure we're actually in the year 2010.

As a matter of fact, the "mosque" at ground zero is not a mosque. It is a community center, open to all, intended as a peace offering from the Muslim community. Only frank religious bigotry converts (pardon the pun) it into a stab in the eye.

. . . and it is not "AT" Ground Zero, it is up the block, 600 ft=2 football fields away, on a everyday normal NYC street!

Didn't an atheist group (might have been in England) put ads on buses a short time ago? I believe Fox reported it and their commentators were outraged. Hypocrisy as usual.

As an atheist I'm happy to see people leave any religion. The problem with America's thinking on Islam, as I see it, is many conservative Christians want to gin up a holy war against Islam while (unfortunately) many of my fellow liberals are prepared to look the other way on Islam's regressive tendencies. There are tendencies within Islam that make the likes of Pat Robertson look positively progressive.

Geller is a disgusting woman but I'm actually forced to agree with her somewhat in this segment. Muslims who wish to leave their religion can face a lot of problems, from family quarrels to being outright murdered.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostasy_in_Islam#Punishment_for_apostasy

I have no problem with them having resources. Still, you have to wonder how Fox would react to a "Leaving Christianity" poster?

"Is Jews for Jesus controversial?" Yes.

Note how, when Geller's ad is compared to ("is similar to") the NYC "mosque," she tricks her way out of it and pretends Carlson was contrasting the two ("I'm against that too"). Nice dishonesty, Geller.

Progressive Islam was born in 1844 when the Ottoman Empire abolished the death penalty for apostasy. It funny how the harshest critiques have never actually read the Koran. There's nothing in it about promoting suicide, and killing apostates. There is however, all that stuff in the Bible. She's generalizing an entire religion based on two or three countries. Countries, I might add, that we have messed with economically or in the case of Iran, by overthrowing their democratically elected governments. (Operation Ajax)

Lets say a muslim wants to leave his religion but he fears losing ties with his family - how exact;y would this ad even help the handful of those people in this country?

Is jews for jesus controversial? Ummm is gay marriage controversial? Have you ever asked an actual jew what he thinks of that crap - somewhere between scientology and mormonism i guess aka a sham religion.

And Im not saying religion in general isnt a sham these days. But most of the big ones were actually started in good faith and with the best of intentions - those two in particular were definitely not.
