I don't think that the President needs to a single thing to get the Latino vote in this country. They are certainly not going to vote for the Republicans, aka We Hate All Brown People Party. Feeling the demographics closing in on you, Karl?

VERY TRUE!!!!!! Really loose talking folks like Hannity and Rush and Beck et al are the real problem. Just let them prattle on with their constant untruths. Even in a National emergency like the oil spill, my party seems intent on doing anything possible to thwart the federal effort to get things in check. The lies about Obama's refusal of foreign help is so silly. Some friends of mine have invited some workers off the skimmer to dinner and had to get a translater. Golly, it seems the Republican blowhards in our party just have to lie all too often!

I think you guys are right. If you were a latino or latina in this country, would you vote for a republican? I wouldn't.

Well it's only a matter of time before the right splits in the US. The more republicans marginalize various groups the less of a vote they'll get. At some point republicans that want a hope in winning and that are more moderate need to split from the party in order to save their seats. Either that or moderate leader needs to step up in the ranks but I don't think that's possible anymore.

Again, the parenthetical "because they're far too childlike to, you know, vote on the issues".

No, Karl. President Obama is pushing it because you and your boys walked away from the issue and didn't get the job done when you controlled the government. Now that President Obama is pursuing immigration reform, your biggest fear is that he just might be successful.

Rove is a genius in the eyes of Republicans. He was able to get G.W. into the White House. Twice. That, in itself, is an amazing, frightening accomplishment.

I've always imagined that the GOP movers and shakers were at a party, and Rove was bragging that he could get any fool elected President. Somebody pointed to a drunk in the corner with a lampshade on his head and said, "Prove it." And Karl proved it.

Actually to President Bush's credit, his approach to immigration reform was a pretty good idea, and similar, if not the same as, what Obama would like to do. The problem with President Bush in this case, was his own party. There was no way they were going to let him do it.

True... and the major reason Bush was actually looking at the issue rationally was because, as Governor of Texas, he could really see what was going on for himself.
Most of the problems with the Right come from their refusal to actually LOOK at things .

Exactly. I have to explain that to my friends that the GOP will oppose this at all costs because a win on this issue is too big. Even Sens. McCain and Grahm are backtracking and acting like Tea partiers about their own suggestions. Sad coming from the "country first" crowd.

Obama doesn't need to do reform to get their vote. Republicans do an awesome job already alienating them into Democratic hands.

I would say it really worked for Bush, but then it was a kind of funny (as in, Ohio & Florida) kind of "election" in 2004, wasn't it?

I don't think Obama is pushing or doing anything to "jazz up Latinos", I think they're already jazzy enough as it is.

Or maybe he knows this i san important and complex issue and he needs to get something done while the adults are still in charge. Is that projection or what? I wonder if anyone on the right will accuse him of race baiting or is it something only liberals do?

      Hmmm . . .
Its OK for republicans to 'jazz up' angry, gun-toting honkies but its a terrible thing for dems to appeal to Latinos.

President Obama and the dems were going to skip immigration reform in favor of energy reform. However, since the REPUBLICANS in Arizona decided to jazz up their base with some unconstitutional legislation against being brown in AZ, the dems and Obama were forced to deal with this issue.

Dishonesty, thy name is terd blossom.

That's what I was thinking. I recall something about attempts to pray for the health care reform bill to fail. That was pandering if I ever heard it and it was embarrassingly pathetic to boot!

Wow. A politician trying to help out a certain voting block? OMFG! How EVIL! Oh, the HUMANITY!

Hey d!ckweed: THAT'S WHAT POLITICIANS DO!

What I'd like to kwwo is why we're supposed to think it's OK to give more money to rich people, but we can't sort out our immigration problems in any way that makes this country the slightest bit browner. Doesn't the latino vote COUNT? Aren't they CITIZENS to? Don't they have the same rights? If they want certain immigration concessions, why is that any different from rich, fat, white people wanting certain tax concessions?

Oh, but it's not RACIST. Nah. Who'd have thought THAT?!

Like Limbaugh's "Obama hopes Republicans win so he can blame them" from yesterday, this is another fine example of projection.

Here's Rove revealing how Republican Party leaders think of you right-wing voters: as faceless, mindless masses who can be "jazzed up".

"Obama pushing immigration reform only to "jazz up Latinos" to vote for him in 2012."

No, Karl. The Republicants jazzed up Latinos to vote for Obama in 2012 with their stellar performance of thinly veiled racism during the Sotomayor confirmation hearings.

      But thanks for playing.

"Thinly veiled"? What hearings were you watching;-) They brought out the full monty. I still have nightmares about racist looking men with southern drawls lecturing a Latino woman from N.Y. about being racist. Gives me the willies, whatever they are.
