You have to understand that these guys don't use basic algebra let alone any complex math at all in their lives. The little algebra that exists to them, they pay someone else to figure out. So there is no muslim contribution in "their world".

What a-historical bigots! Have these idiots ever heard of the Crusades? Idea: perhaps the DNC should just run ads featuring bigoted and idiotic statements like this -- along with stupid statements by GOP leadership like Barton, Boehner and McConnell to remind short-memoried Anericans about the real choice between conservatives and progressives in advance of the November elections. That might be powerful and motivating.

Saying "Islam is at war with America" because of a few fundamentalist Muslim terrorists is like saying "Baptists are at war with America" because of Timothy McVeigh.

Quinn, your brush is too wide. I mean, can I now group you in with Jeffrey Dahmer and his ilk just because you are a white male?

Okay, here's the larger question. We know these guys are full of sh*t on this topic as with most others, but why the sudden hyperventilation over the historic contributions of Islam?

Something about this topic scares the Troglodytes, or they think it will give them political advantage... otherwise their screechmonkeys wouldn't be pushing these talking points so hard.

The right has always needed an enemy, a boogyman.Yesteryear it was the Reds. Today it's the Muslim's turn. That a black man has the temerity to be elected President is enough to push them into foam at the mouth insanity. They underestimate the essential goodness of people , and are quickly digging their own political grave , now that the extremists are at the fore.

I posted a long list of scientific contributions of Muslims on MM yesterday, and it seems it was needed after all. The contributions the Muslims made in the past have had a profound effect on our lives. Although the contributions I listed were made many years ago, we still benefit from them today, and Tennent's statement shows the value of knowing history. I guess he's just going to erase Arabic numerals, algebra, the creation of lenses, and all of the other Muslim contributions because of "American Exceptionalism." He comes off like an ignorant tool in this comment:

"After Quinn repeatedly suggests Obama is Muslim, Tennent says there "was no contribution ... to society" by Muslims"

The sad thing about this is that he doesn't know how little he knows, or he knows that he doesn't know, but he doesn't care about either condition. That he has a national media platform from which to spread this ignorant virus to others is also very shameful.

We see here a list of Islamic accomplishments. Most of these occurred before the 12th century AD.

But this is true of the alleged 'religion of peace', more lying and self delusion.

So muslims need a little pick me up from NASA? IED's in space is about all they could muster now anyway...

          suicide versus homicide?

Both groups lead by tyrannical nut jobs, jones and mohammed (may his name always be associated with evil).

One, condemned by the religion he claimed, the other still worshiped by the followers of the 'religion of peace'.

When muslims reject the evil that they have foisted upon civilization, then they will have gained respect. But that probably won't happen until the prophet's molestation of children is stopped by his present home becoming frozen over.

OK. Show us where Muslims are promised 72 children.

Or are you saying that the terms virgin and child are the same?

Christians have performed more savagery than any other religion on the planet.

In fact, one Christian, the name escapes me but he had a funny little mustache, is responsible for more than 50,000,000. Probably more people killed by all of the Muslims who've ever lived.

Here are some of the article quotes:

Since the September terror attacks, several Arab and Islamic states have urged the United Nations to define the concept of terrorism in a bid to prevent the US-led anti-terror campaign from being extended to groups fighting Israel.

So when those palestinians throw those missiles into Israel, they must be taking special care not to hurt children, women and especially not having secondary attacks to kill the health workers attending to the non-hurt children and women.

I'd like to see the steps of "possible actions" that were taken besides defending islam.

But then again, we see it everyday how people are stepping up and condemning violence from their community, everyday! Why the noise of their efforts is akin to those horns at the world cup!

Based on the way pc looks at people and his tendency to generalize, that means that because I'm an African American female, I had children out of wedlock, and my daughter has numerous kids by different fathers. None of this is true. My daughter is college educated, unmarried, and doesn't have kids, but I don't imagine he could get his mind around my African American parents who insisted that I go to college, finish, and get married before having kids because it's not what is usually said/believed about African American females. I have 5 brothers and none of them have ever been to prison, and none of them are thugs, but it doesn't fit the meme of those who don't realize that not every member of a particular group is the same. I know some Muslims, Hispanics, and Hindus personally, and they are not interested in taking over America or in committing acts of terrorism, but they are interested in becoming successful in their respective businesses.

Even with a connection to Lockerbie, I had several acquaintances that were superfical, admittedly. I was stunned that they understood or were pleased with the events of 9-11. At that point, I decided to let them be.

The only ones I know now have become Christians and would have to fear for their lives if they lived in less civilized countries. They have been abandoned by family from their home country.

Uh-huh. Sure. I know several Muslims-- actually KNOW, not the "made eye contact, p!ssed myself and ran" know that you're using"-- and they're for the most part political liberals and theological moderates. You're a bigot and an anti-Semite who hates and prejudges every member of a religion for the actions of extremists. What would your ideal solution be, I wonder? I'm honestly curious. Since you've concluded that every Muslim in the world is a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer, I assume you think they should all be forcibly converted or killed.

I just wish they would develop a mature religion and just leave us alone.

Instead they will probably continue to try to bring destruction to the world, return everyone to where they are...living in the stone age and blame us for stuff that happened millenniums ago as the reason they are so backward and humiliated now.

And I wish all religious types would keep their ideas about how other people live to themselves. There was something about that in that awesome novel that always gets quoted, I believe it is:
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Why would they need to do that, when you're already living in the stone age? You, unlike many religious extremists the world over, grew up in a culture that preaches tolerance and condemns bigotry. And despite this, you remain an evolutionary throwback, filled with primitive tribal fear of the other. The binary-brained logic you use to foist the blame for the actions of a few extremists on all one billion muslims is an echo of your witch-hunting, crusading ancestors, which stain the history of your own religion, christianity. You are everything you profess to hate.

Mr Bolden said: "When I became the Nasa administrator, he [Mr Obama] charged me with three things.

"One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering."

Let them reach out, by all means. Maybe they can contribute when one of those big asteroids shows up, they can go plant some IED's on it so it blows up before it hits the earth!

I seem to recall Irish Catholics using car bombs too. They even named a drink after them. And yet I'm guessing you don't think every Catholic in the world is a terrorist.

          Where have you been?

Science has been overruled by religion for thousands of years.

All religions are God Makers that thrive on fear and the unknown for money and blood. The here and now is a present to be enjoyed constantly. The Mormons and Scientology merely fill voids for the confused.I think all religions are cults.

I'll stick with "all religions are cults".Religion,as a rule, doesn't promote free thought and plants self-serving dogma to it's faithful.

                    Also to consider:
Religion = controls people through a fear of condemnation after death, or rewards (Hell and Heaven)
Politics = controls people through a fear of condemnation during life.
