If Fox has the most cable viewers, then they should be considered part of the MSM. Therefore when they complain about the MSM, they could be complaining about themselves. With MSM comes responsibility, but that is a naughty word to Fox.

But if they admitted that they WERE the mainstream media, itt would destroy their claim to victimhood that they like to tout so much.

And in terms of their rather large share of the ratings ... well, even if ten million people eat dogs#!t, it doesn't mean that it tastes like chocolate ice cream.

Never tried heroine, but have known some that have.Sitting on the couch and watching this nonsense is similar to what I've seen in junkies.Fox watchers are numb mentally and physically and incapable of rational thought.Instead of a needle mainstream, they are getting a mental mainstream, much like a junkie. The physical mainstream is the TPers and their actions toward confusion.

I enjoy watching some Victorian-Era based stories, e.g. Sherlock Holmes, and one of the things that better ones have is the Opium Den. It's kind of racist, with mostly 'Orientals' (but considering what the British did regarding Opium, that's almost understandable - esp. since most of the writings/movies tend to be from the British POV), but there are usually some Brits (one Holmes story is about someone becoming addicted).
Imagine a room full of people, watching Faux News....

Heroin (it was a brand by Bayer) from Morphine, from Opium...

Eric Alterman had it exactly right:

"The combination of commitment to right-wing politics, reach and irresponsibility is literally unprecedented in the modern age of American politics; it's as if Joe McCarthy were not just a senator but a television network as well."

["Kabuki Democracy: Why a Progressive Presidency Is Impossible, for Now" The Nation, July 7, http://www.thenation.com.]

(I think the best we can hope for is a death-bed conversion of Roger Ailes, similar to Lee Atwater's.)

Uh, Bill...FOX News IS in business to promote the Republican Party and to promote the conservative agenda. Doh...

The exception on FOX, however, may be Glenn Beck who is out to promote himself first and foremost.

And Bernie Goldberg is correct...FOX, by virtue of the number of people who watch it, has become the mainstream. But what that reveals is just how divided this country is...and that what the right wing considers to be America's values are actually some pretty despicable things.

You know they always talk about how many viewers Fox have and how its the voice of America in a way blah blah blah.

I bet you you could find almost twice as many people who do drugs and are not "illegals" or criminals, who support gay marriage etc., at least, in America, but I suppose they're not the right type of Americans.

        Funny in a way

Really? Reaching around 1% of the total population in one's evening propaganda programming is "mainstream"? Don't think so.
