On CNN, RedState's Erickson says Sherrod "was taken out of context" and labeled as a racist

EMBED

ERICKSON: For years, it's been very easy to label a conservative a racist for disagreeing with the left and have them driven from the stage. Unfortunately, Shirley Sherrod today has become a victim of that.

KING: But is she a victim because an angry activist on the right took her out of context or didn't at least give her time and fairness? Two wrongs don't make a right.

ERICKSON: Oh, absolutely. I think that she was taken out of context. Two wrongs don't make a right. But, again, this is what happens routinely by the left to the right.

I'm sorry, but I must say, I am deeply ashamed of this White House tonight. This administration is making Fox, Breitbart, etc. not only relevant, but powerful, through it's knee-jerk reaction to right wing attacks. I didn't vote for Obama because I thought he would take his cues from the far right and give the axe to loyal, hard-working civil servants the moment some bitter-ender loser fabricates some bs "scandal." This is a disgrace. Every time the administration does this, it just emboldens it's enemies for the next attack.

For God's sake, Mr. President, cut this crap out NOW. STOP jumping to appease the people who will NEVER support you NO MATTER WHAT whenever they snap their fingers. This is getting really disgusting, and I can't find a way to defend this.

I heartily agree. It is time for pushback by the WH.This country can't be ruled by innuendo and false scandals.I know it shows calmness and class to just let this Bs stand, but the right is doing more harm than good to this contry. This isn't responsible behavior and only dumbs down America. The media in America is pitifully re-spewing what Fox Ewes "reports".We need more Amy Goodmans and less PHD opinion by the "right"(wrong).

Time for President Obama to call Sherrod and apologize and given her job back to her.

I agree- the Administration has well-deserved egg on it's face right now, but the way to get it off is to give her her job back and resolve to NEVER, EVER allow some right-wing runt to dictate who works in government.

I hate to say it, but the more likely outcome is that Sherrod joins Van Jones, ACORN, etc. in the "Sorry Conservatives Who Don't Like Me Told Me You Had To Go" pile, and that she'll have more company there in a few months, if not weeks.

Have y'all noticed what everyone in that pile has in common? It sure looks of a piece with the wingnuts most dislike about this presidency.

I'm sorry I can only give this post one thumbs-up. This is another chapter in a sad story that first surfaced with tossing Van Jones overboard. Just because the loonies and the dirtbags compare the president to Hitler is no reason for him to keep acting like Neville Chamberlain.

I'll make a prediction: The first time the president publicly tells Beck/Breitfart et al. to eat it, maybe offers to give Beck something he can really cry about, his approval rating will jump past 70%.

That is Gibbs' job and he needs to go after the fake press more.If all the right is relegated to is trashing Gibbs,it is one small victory for democracy. He is a smart man with his own mind and needs more carte blanche from the WH.

jjamele, you are doing what the media was doing with the story yesterday. Vilsack has stated that this was HIS decision and his alone and that the White House had no involvement in it. The White House has denied knowing anything about it. Vilsack was within his rights, under the zero tolerance policy of the USDA, to fire Ms. Sherrod for giving the appearance, no matter what the context, of being racially motivated in her job. Apparently, her resignation is being reconsidered today.

And if she hadn't resigned, he would be right there with the rest of the wingnuts screaming about the President protecting racists.

Erick son of Erick is (for a conservative) playing a pretty smart game here.

He has mananged to co-opt the republican "see, they do it too" mantra over this forced resignation and in the future will show this as an example be it of left wing intolerance of people who are not racist and will claim that the next right wing scumbag who does or says a racist thing is actually not, JUST LIKE SHERROD THEY SHOULD BE APOLOGISED TO.

Just wait for it too occour.

As l said before, as soon as the White House accepted Van Jones's resignation the floodgates were opened, and all is linked to a stupid attempt at keeping the door open for bi-partizanship with people who from day one set out their agenda, destroy this present administration.

President Obama may have surrounded himself with intellegent people but the sad fact is, these guys are not up to the task of taking on the republican media machine and their skills at ratfcuking.

These are supposed to be Chicago politicians who know how to fight dirty when it is needed.

How does the saying go again?

"They bring a knife, you bring a gun.

They put one of yours in the hospital, you put one of theirs in the morgue."

With these bunch of bed wetters its more like "They bring a knife, you bring them a coffee."

Sad and pathetic but worst of all people on the left are starting to doubt that this administration either has the backbone for the fight or the courage to stand up for their own.

So Erickson is here saying, straight out, that this was all concocted out of sheer spite, and that's okay.

I also saw he (or was it Briebart?) said this was all for vengeance on the NAACP for calling out the teabaggers.

Sure, the White House should smack them down, and reinstate Sherrod. But people in the media should call Erickson, Briebart and the rest out as well; John King asked good questions, but he didn't seem interested in following up. He didn't want to call a spade a spade; or in this case, a redneck a redneck.
