        What Howell Raines said.

One question has tugged at my professional conscience throughout the year-long congressional debate over health-care reform, and it has nothing to do with the public option, portability or medical malpractice. It is this: Why haven't America's old-school news organizations blown the whistle on Roger Ailes, chief of Fox News, for using the network to conduct a propaganda campaign against the Obama administration -- a campaign without precedent in our modern political history?

I find it really hard to believe, even for FOX, that they didn't know that this tape was highly selective. FOX doesn't get to say that they were duped too. We know that they knew they torpedoed ACORN with the same tactic. It worked then and they figured it would work again. The administration is too worried about what the Reicht will say and they (the Reicht) knows it. They knew if they threw this out there, it would be fresh meat and the feeding frenzy would make us look bad. Look at it this way: Either the tape is shown in its edited version and no one questions it; the Reicht has "proof" that they aren't the only racists. Or, the tape is shown, discovered to be another fraud, and the administration handles it poorly and the Reicht can point to it and say the administration is inept. They win either way.

Let's hope the lesson is learned by this administration:

If it comes from FOX, it's a lie. Ignore it.

to Litwiz's point... is this what the 2010 election is going to look like, after the S.C.O.T.U.S ruling about unlimited company contributions? Fox has been doing this "service" for republicans for yrs., being the mouthpiece of the G.O.P. One thing is for sure, Fox will never win a Pulitzer prize, because they are an organization that matches or exceeds the "quality" of info created by tabloid magazine.
