He's not playing. He actually is a fool.

He wasn't even a very good weatherman. Now Fox puts him forth as an "expert" on just about everything. Only in America.

He deserves a lot more than just having his taxes raised.

No...no.... rich people are just rich

They always need to make it some phony moral issue, Fox's bizarro version of class warfare, where they're somehow able to get a bunch of middle and lower class people outraged that the elites who are getting rich off of them are being asked to kick in.

If you go into a restaurant and order the two most expensive meals on the menu for yourself, and wash it down with the best bottle of wine, you're going to pay more than the guy who gets the blue plate special.

It doesn't mean you're evil, there's no moral judgment there, you just make your choices and take responsibility for them.

The reason the rich are being singled out, is because the Bush admin. did everything in their power to make the rich richer. These people use high price accountants & lawyers to be sure they don't pay their share of taxes. These republicans will bitch & complain about Obama's plan to leave Iraq & hopefully Afganistan, but where are the clowns who have to pay for those wars. As for Doosey, the fact he works on Fox, a person has to shrug their shoulders & "say no more". They are all idiots & Murdock puppets. Maybe he can go back to Aussy land, take the whole show with him.

Yes, they do want to raise taxes, only insomuch as letting the Bush tax cuts expire for the wealthiest of those amongst us, and then bringing tax levels back to the Clinton years, when I'm pretty sure nobody was crying about.

No, Dooc-bag, governments are looking for new streams of revenue to keep the country and states from going under due to the nefarious business practices of the so-called rich. Oh, and don't forget the bail-outs for the "rich" businesses too big to fail.

The Troglodytes are winning this debate... again. All they have to do is trot out their stats that 75% of the people who would be taxed more are job-producing "small business owners", and that taxing them will kill jobs.

It's bullsh*t, of course, but enough to stampede the cowardly members of Congress.

Agreed nerzog. Unfortunately, what no one ever bothers to mention is that this country was built upon the backs of the middle class. If you don't have a thriving middle class, like we did in the 1950's, a period that the Trogs idylocize, then you have no democracy and no real functioning economy. Somehow, we have all been sold this bill of goods that says the wealthy are the driving force in our country -- and with the increased discrepancy between the rich and poor in this country that myth has become more of a reality every day.

Then what is the reason to shrink the middle class? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I hear"naked greed" as an excuse, but it doesn't make sense to wreck the entire system so you can have a bigger swimmikng pool, a fancier car, or a larger castle.

          What am I missing?

I wish I knew the answer. My only guess is short term thinking. You've got CEOs bringing down seven-figure salaries, shipping American jobs over seas so they can make eight-figure salaries. Meanwhile, their golden goose is dying.

I really think that, in their minds, once they accumulate their fat portfolios, they're set for life... then the rest of us can just go to hell.

Take the CEO of BP, for example. Word is that he's out the door. So what? He's probably got enough money stashed away that no one in his family will have to work for six generations. What does he care?

You're right... it doesn't make sense... but I can't think of any other explanation.

It's Steve Doocy's right to rake in millions of dollars by performing in skits that offer no general benefit to society whatsoever. And it's our right to try to overturn that sort of inequity for the betterment of society.

Out of curiosity, Doocy, since you bring it up? Can you show me one person with a net worth over $50 million that did not break the law in making that vast pile of wealth? Just one will do. Leave Bill Gates out of this, because Windows was stolen from Xerox. Find me one. If you can. Then we can talk about evil successful people, mmkay?

I'd settle for an example of one who made those millions without lots of help from the public, the government and/or an army of employees.

        And Jed Clampett doesn't count.

There's really no such thing as "self made". We all use other people one way or another.

Did you ever notice how the only people whoever ACTUALLY call rich people "evil" are conservtaives?

Now, yes, I know they're being sarcastic, trying to imply that liberals are the judgemental ones (HA!) and that we are so full of class-envy, that it somehow drives us to class warfare. (Forgetting of course that it's the POOR WHITES who used to be unionized, back when they still HAD good-paying jobs that really get these fools elected!)

But remember: Fair and Balanced. I guess that means "make sure you never host anyone who would even TRY to justify a progressive taxation system."

Yes, Doocy. The ''so called rich man,'' one Mort Zuckerman almost had a hissy being interviewed by Ed Shultz yesterday. The rich are angry and terrified of the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. Now they're lying that it's the ''small business owners'' who will be hurt. I don't believe that many small business make $250,000 annually. These guys are about as un American as you can get. The almighty dollar is their god.

The basic fact they won't admit to is that hiring workers actually reduces the tax liability of a business. The "job-killing" argument just doesn't hold water.

If a "small business" has $250,000 left over after paying all expenses, payroll, etc., they're doing just fine.

Typical strawman the "evil rich" that wingnuts always bring up.

Nobody suggests that they enmass are evil at all, though as stated above the looters on Wall Street were and are.

Wingnuts always set-up their argument with these strawmen "some" or "evil rich" or whatever.

Tax rates will go up slightly and if there is somenone to suggest that a 3 percent increase in the marginal rate is a crisis, please see that they get some help.

There is simply no data to suggest that lower tax rates are the answer to our problems.

Hint to wingnuts : Reagan raised taxes during a recession and raised taxes almost every year he was in office.

No, the point of the comment was that Reagan shouldn't be a hero of the faux conservatives. It's a textbook example of authoritarian thought . . . has nothing to do with actual political ideology. Reagan actually raised the taxes . . . Obama is only wanting to let a portion of the very ill-thought out Bush tax cuts expire. No one's taxes are going to be raised . . . they are just returning, by action of law, to what they were prior to Bush's tax cuts.

Here is what a friend of mine posted on Facebook today:

(name delted) is really tired of the liberal "elite" preaching about how THE RICH don't pay enough in taxes to help out those less fortunate...well, Hillary - what about having an "average" wedding for your daughter like the rest of us and donating the other $3-5 million to charity -

AND - YOU GUYS ARE THE RICH you so disgustingly talk about as if you are not in that category. I don't care what you do with YOUR money but don't preach to others about what they should do with their money!!!!!!

Umm, her point doesn't make any sense. Yes, Hillary is rich, and yet, she is proposing raising taxes on herself in order to help pay down the deficit in the country, and to fund the programs that we need. It doesn't matter if her daughter's wedding costs millions of dollars. Her and Bill got the coin to do it, and if I did, I would too. They're not talking as if they're not in that category, they KNOW they are, and are still looking to do it. And, nobody is telling you what to do with your money.
