Federal outlays were about 25% of GDP last year. It has floated between high teens and low 20's for decades. Little higher than recent past but nowhere near WWII highs.

This is actually painful to watch...

Glenn Beck's employer should consider the wisdom and propriety of giving a daily show to a psychotic person so he can spout insane, paranoid theories of the country being taken over by a dictoator based on the 1969 manifesto of a fringe protest group.

Hey, Fox. Hey, Murdoch...is this legitimate, responsible opinion worthy of a major (supposed) news organization?

When are MSM media commentators going to start openly and frankly questioning Glenn Beck's sanity and his mental fitness to appear on a daily show spreading insane, paranoid theories?

I don't think media commentators should be the ones questioning his sanity; it should be the politicians and journalists who bow to his "wisdom". Once they start to wonder just where he gets his information, then the countdown can commence.

No, I disagree...I think it has to come from his peers and media critics. Otherwise, it's just a p!$$ing contest between Beck and the White House...which elevates Beck's status.

Regardless, it's time for someone with a voice to start calling out Beck's insanity for what it is.

Beck says "the trends we're headed towards" shows Obama will become a dictator because that's what one African American man is capable of doing all by himself, so be afraid, very afraid.

      Really, Glenda?

That's funny, because I have yet to hear of

      - AG Holder approving torture memos
      - VP Biden talking about the "Unitary Executive"
      - or Obama referring to himself as "The Decider-er"

Glenn, I think you are really coming completely unhinged.

The Weather Underground never had more than about 30 members and they were pretty much regarded by everybody as lunatics even in 1969. But since you're reading historical New Left documents, you might enjoy the Port Huron Statement.

I encourage everyone to look it up and try to read it. A lot of it sounds like bad 60s movie dialogue... a lot of talk about "Pigs" and "The Revolution". I can't read more than a paragraph without getting a headache.

Imagine Nostradumbass in bed next to his wife, breathlessly pouring through it with his yellow highlighter, shouting "I've got them now!"

        Irony's right... he's f***ing psychotic.

Your republic is over! but don't be violent.

We're on the path to Obama the dictator! but don't be violent.

What? One of Glenn Beck's fans got liquored up, armed to the teeth, and got into a shootout with the police while he was on his way to murder every living soul within the walls of the Tides Foundation? Well, don't blame Glenn. He tells his listeners don't be violent.

There is a book about Beck that has some interesting ideas explaining how Beck got to be Beck.

However, I think that Beck's insanity has already been described in prebiographies of Beck, books that describe in some mysterious ways how the man behaves--Through the Looking Glass, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Catch-22, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, the Big Book of AA, the works of Dr. Seuss. There may be more books that hold glimpses of Beck's personality, but these are the ones that come to mind. The man has been dealt a hand from a deck of cards with all of the numbers smeared. His blood supply does not reach the top part of his body.

But Anthrax says that Liberals are (w)ussies? I'm confuzzled. How does a man who spent his life appealing to the other side and getting groups to work together as a group become a dictator? Maybe he's thinking of what would happen if his girl crush was elected. She was the one with the enemies list and the loyalty test. My head hurts. It's time for bed.

Much as I hate to say it, Glenn is correct in this case. We are on our way toward a Dictatorship, but it isn't because of Obama, it got its legs under St. Ronnie and has continued largely unchecked ever since. Movement towards that goal has been slowed during Democratic terms, it seems, but soon as the Repubs get back into power, it's full steam ahead.

And then they cry and complain that the Democrat has power after the term is up.
