The Government? Well, it won't be the present government, because Democrats are scared sh*tless of the NRA.

I think they are a terrorist organization. I'm a legal gun owner and I have no use for an outfit that works towards everyone (including criminals) owning guns.

I guess Beck is just in favor of more cops getting shot.

They lost me years ago when they were defending the so-called "cop killer" ammunition.

Why does the average citizen need bullets designed to pierce body armor?

I'm sure our resident Troglodytes will say that people need it to defend themselves against the government. Sorry, but the idea that you're going to fight off the police or military in a Ruby Ridge type standoff is just a sick Wingnut fantasy.

These guys sit in dark rooms, fondling themselves as they watch Red Dawn over and over. For them, Becky's War on Liberalism is the ultimate wet dream.

They lost me when they continually send threatening letters about FREEDOM ITSELF dying at the hands of LIBERAL COWARDS unless I renew my membership and SEND THEM MONEY.

I regretted even having that one year membership.

I had the same experience. I was a member back in the late 70s. I let it lapse because (A) Money was tight and (B) I really didn't see any benefit from being a member.

They harassed me unmercifully to rejoin.

Really? Because I was told when I took an NRA gun safety class that membership dues went only to the education arm of the NRA and that the PAC has to raise it's own funds.

Really? If you believe that then I've got a bridge to sell ya. I pretty immediately started getting solicitations for directly for money for contacting politicians, hiring lawyers, crap like that. Nicely designed, expensively printed mailers.

            They're just a self serving business/lobby group.

Yeah guess the new talking point is to tie the "Patriot Act" to Obama. I still don't get how, if the President left the ban on firearms in Federal Parks is a sign he is come for a guns?

Will they do want terrors groups in the U.S. to be armed and dangerous. Personally I do not need a group to tell me I have a right to carry a firearm, and I also believe that we do not need to own automatic assault rifles.

Ironically, he's right. What he needs to do, however, is substitute Moslem or Arabic names and organizations. They are the ones that are actually at risk, not Glenn and the NRA. Don't worry, Glenn, you're a white, right-wing radical. Nobody's coming for you or your paranoid buddies, not unless you actually open up on people, and then they'll only come for the actual shooter.

The Obama administration's continued support for (and really extension of) Bush's executive power grabs with respect to civil liberties under the so-called Patriot Act is 100% wrong.

More than anything, the NRA is an INSIGNIFICANT organization.

According to Wikipedia, the NRA claims nearly 4 million members, and the current US population is 309,826,000. According to my calculator, the total NRA membership is less than 1.3 percent of the total US population.

Ever since people like Ted Nugent and Wayne LaPierre started running it, I have referred to teh NRA as "Nuts Ruining America".

I just watched Zombieland, and loved the scene where Woody finds the Hummer loaded with various semi- and automatic weapons, and cries out "Thank God for Rednecks!"
In the commentary, someone notes that actual rednecks cheer that line.

Isn't that amazing, only 4 million people. But can you imagine the budget they have to shovel their sh!t, the endless amount of paper, postage, bribes and fear they perpetuate into an already fearful nation. It's sad and useless.

Even if the government did label the NRA a terrorist organization, noone would take it seriously. Here's how the convo would go.

Liberal 1: Who is the gov't labeling a threat now?

Liberal 2: The NRA so it seems.

Liberal 1: Wow really? Well we should look into it. What is the name of their leader?

Liberal 2: A guy named Wayne LaPierre.

      Liberal 1: I'm sorry, did you say.......Lapierre?

Liberal 2: Yes, thats what I said..... LaPierre.

Liberal 1: (Chuckles) You know what, I think Uncle Sam can handle this one. Let's take the afternoon off.

      Liberal 2: Good idea man.
