I guess I'm an African American elitist like our president because I have some fine looking arugula growing in my garden right now. It is sooo tender, different from that usually sold in supermarkets.

Here's a link to a FoxNews opinion piece addressing the "bachelor" remark that Limbaugh also mentions in this piece.

He can't defend the indefensible - his unfair smear of Obama with the boy references.

And even as an immature child, at times my birthday was celebrated with family on a day OTHER THAN my actual birth date. In real life, the world doesn't stop revolving on one's birthday! The idea that Michelle going someplace else with her daughter during his birthday isn't a sign of trouble in paradise - it's a sign of a solid marriage - that she can leave and celebrate his birthday on an alternative day when ALL the kids will be present! Right now, one of the daughters went with Michelle and the other daughter, Malia, was already gone to summer camp!

Interesting how he talks over the caller when she starts pointing out Palin resigned before completing a single term.

The caller got shut down pretty quickly and wasn't able to make any points every time she sounded like she was about to pin Limbaugh with reasonable questions and comments...surprise, surprise on that one.

I called Limpy once, years ago. He hung up on me, and pretended that I had hung up. Hannity did the same thing to me.

I hadn't called a righty talk show in years, but I called Michael Medved a few weeks back. He didn't actually tell his audience that I had hung up on him, but he turned the volume down as I asked him the most pointed question I had for him, and went to a commercial.

For anybody who has never called these shows, they can do a lot with a seven second delay, and control of the volume.

Even when I have managed to get my point in on one of them, they just cut me off and continued to battle some strawman version of what I said after I was gone.

Just something to keep in mind when criticizing callers to these shows, the caller who disagrees with a conservative host might have an advantage in facts or logic, but the host has the upper hand in controlling the game.

      http://apnews.myway.com/article/20100804/D9HCF3I80.html

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Missouri voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly rejected a key provision of President Barack Obama's health care law, sending a clear message of discontent to Washington and Democrats less than 100 days before the midterm elections.

About 71 percent of Missouri voters backed a ballot measure, Proposition C, that would prohibit the government from requiring people to have health insurance or from penalizing them for not having it.

Would they also be against legally mandated auto insurance and/or legally mandated homeowners insurance? Talk about encroaching on our rights! Next thing you know, the law will prohibit marriage between two consenting adults who willing commit to one another in a loving relationship! Too much government, I tell you!

So who's going to pay for all those people who don't have insurance but are treated in emergency rooms?

Oh yea, right, the taxpayers, and the ones who have insurance will have their premiums raised to cover those who don't. Way to screw yourselves, citizens of Missouri!

Good thing that a state law cannot negate a federal law ans may even violate it. The fine for this should be a lose of all federal money while still having to pay taxes until the law is off the books.

There's a little trick to Prop C. Many voters were under the impression that a "yes" vote on the measure was in favor of the health insurance initiative. When it's actually in opposition to it. Ads that ran here were brief and gave off the illusion of making good healthcare available to working families. There wasn't any mention of government mandates. Just a desire to provide for one's family. Many people took this to mean that the proposition was in favor of the federal healthcare law (which would still stand up against state law). This was also not a widely talked about issue in the state. As I stated before, ads that ran were brief.

I hope you're right, scub, that there was confusion over the issue. I'd hate to think there are that many people in MO who are as dopey as seahawks.

Who are these people who don't have insurance and don't want it, just teenagers who think they're never going to get hurt or sick ?

There are allowances for low income people , right? I get the feeling there are others like seahawks out there, that think they're going to suddenly be forced into using their entire Burger Shack paycheck to pay for insurance.

I hate to tell you, but there are quite a few who feel that way. It's because they've been conditioned to think that. Certain areas out here are very "Fox oriented". You can have a conversation with some and tell. Suddenly, they believe the president is going to "destroy the very fabric of this nation". If you ask for clarification they may tell you any thing from "higher taxes that will make businesses cut jobs" to "cap and trade will stop innovation". But most of the ones I've stopped and talked to cannot tell you what they mean when they say that. They instantly jump off on a tangent and assume you don't understand the complexities of the issues. There are also racial divides that would make you think you stepped in a time warp. They don't call you racial slurs to you face. Nobody has had the gaul to say the N-word in my presence, but I have definitely been treated like one. My city is a very segregated place. Segregated by race and economics. Many times the two blend together. And the general assumption by many of the "Fox oriented" is that money equates to intelligence. And if you have money then you were smart about your life. If you're poor then you've led a stupid, irresponsible life. Unless they are poor. Then they like to say the government is stopping XYZ corporation from being profitable enough to hire them. But if government would back off, then they would be able to be rich someday by working hard, and depending on free market solutions, capitalism, and american exceptionalism. Granted this isn't everyone. But there are alot of people in Eastern Missouri that have that mentality.

And, I'm sure Blimpy never heard of a husband "Baching it" (sp?) while the wife is away.

Besides, birthdays are not as big a deal for men as they are for women and children. I don't mean to sound sexist, but how often does a husband raise hell if his wife forgets his birthday?

When/before my family moved from FL to NJ, my father moved before the rest of us to get a home set up for us before we arrived (saving the trouble of having to work/care for the family/look for a house). He also many times would go to the Four Corners area to handle repairs on generators for weeks at a time, with the rest of us still in Tucson.

Don't know about how to cut batchelor.. 'batching' sound like working with several computer files at one to me, and "Baching" sounds like composing Baroque music.

I learned that the hard way, when I was probably in my early 20s. I had plans to take a girlfriend out for her birthday, when we got invited to a party on the same day.

If somebody wanted to take me to a party on my birthday, then out for my birthday on another night, that would have been even better than the one official observation.

Guy mind: Hey, how about we go to the party, and we celebrate your birthday a night or two later ?

Girlfriend : Sure, that sounds fine.

        It wasn't. Not at all.

"Birthday boy" is acceptable, but the Limpman only uses it because it is his chance to legitimately call the President a "boy". All men are "birthday boys", but Limp-baugh is just taking advantage of the situation as he always does...he's a cheap shot artist and a master propagandist.
