            Have fun.

Perhaps a future moment of remembrance for kids who attend Beck's rally will go something like this:

            KID: Hey, Dad?
            DAD: Yes, son?
KID: Remember when you took me to that Glenn Beck rally a few years back? The one at the Lincoln Memorial on 8-28?
            DAD: I sure do.
KID: What was the lesson I was supposed to take away from that day?
            DAD: What do you think?
            KID: That's Beck's a serious a-hole?
            DAD: Bingo.
KID: Thanks, Dad. I love you.
            DAD: Love you too, champ.

If it is a flop Beck will just blame Obama, saying that "ACORN thugs" prevented the "millions" who wanted to come from getting there.
Either that or he will say, "Rally? What rally? I didn't have a rally." LOL

Children also tend to remember walking in on their parents having sex. Doesn't mean it helps them as human beings.

Beck's right, kids do tend to remember their parents' most embarrassing moments. 8-28 will be to a lot of kids like Dad showing up sh*t-faced at the little league game or Mom getting grabby with the neighbor's kid at the 4th of July block party.

Kind of like Bleck's "Plan" to save America. Remember that? Or when he told everyone that he was going to educate (indoctrinate) his audience on the real motivations of the Founding Fathers? That's gone over big.

I recall the following, having been born in 1962: My KKK uncle telling me and my young cousins, all under 10, how much fun "salting" black people was. Not familiar with "salting"? It's loading shotgun shells with rocksalt, rather than lead shot. Then the salt shells are shot at unsuspecting blacks minding their own business. I recall my granddad's funeral, where my older cousins fought over his collection of KKK statuettes. Having trouble picturing said chachkes? One shows a KKK rider dragging a black, terrified individual behind a horse....one shows a burning house, with bugeyed black people in the windows as KKK riders circle. I recall my mother, standing in the Bergen-Belsen Holocaust Memorial, telling me the Holocaust was made up by Jews in the media. Each racist herein described adores or would adore, Beck and the racist lie machine at Fox News.

Thanks for the post...it reminds me how clueless most right wing defenders are, oblivious to the degree of racism that has existed in this country. Being from the South I have witnessed much racism and, in my observation, if that's what you're raised with you either embrace it, too, or you reject it entirely when you become old enough to think for yourself...ther's very little middle ground.

My late grandfather once told me as a kid that dark-skinned people were less capable of controlling their emotions than whites.

I loved him, but after hearing this I distinctly recall giving my grandpa a "WTF?" look in response.

No, you might not think so, but they do. I was at the 9/12 rally and the rally the day before Health Care passed. In both instances, I saw Teabaggers on the Metro, and I saw where the buses were dropping them off near the Capitol. There were also group T-shirts at both rallies. I took the Metro both times myself. Plan on doing it again in two weeks for this rally.

And remember how the tea party members and a congressman were upset about the metro service? It happened right after the republicans had defeated a bill to improve transportation in D.C. It's ironic that those who don't want to pay taxes for public services demand that those services be up to their standards. It's like gnawing off your right foot and wondering why you no longer have a right foot.

Yes, it is. I must say though, the Metro and supporting bus service is pretty good. I almost never drive into D.C. I wish I could take Metro out to Dulles (they're working on it). My subway line, the Yellow line, goes right past National Airport. I've taken public transportation in several major cities in the U.S. and in Asia. I'm a believer.

Which is why Olbermann calls the teabaggers the "something for nothing" crowd.

On one hand, the wail about socialism and redistribution of tax revenues then cry bloody murder if their Social Security check is 24 hours late.

I think Fox is hoping he doesn't get a permit. Then they can cry about another amendment. I wouldn't doubt that they are asking the government to deny his permit.
They will get more out of it that way.

If Beck gets a permit, we should all file for permits. Why do you need a radio/TV show to get a permit

I keep wondering what is going to happen at this rally that will be so memorable? You know, something for the history books.
Maybe Glenn will announce he is Jesus Christ. Or maybe Glenn will try to lead his rubes into a take-over of the White House. (He would be standing in the back of course--encourging his "troops" into battle but yet saying, "Don't be violent! I need to cover my a$$ on this one!") Or maybe it will go down in history as a record flop. (That would be soooo funny.)

If Beck wants to prove he's Christ on 8-28 he can always shoot himself in the head to prove his divinity. Then after nothing happens after three days, his idiot followers will dedicate a new religion to him anyway.

And to those who think I'm joking I have three words for you: "L. Ron Hubbard."

I would imagine an historic day such as this one will have many invited guests. GOPRockStars such as Palin, the nut from Minnesota, Scott Brown, Neutered Gingrich, Annie C etc., etc., will all be part of the ceremonies.
Booby Jindal and other governors are sure to appear. And that T-Party will be there 2 million strong. And the OrangeMan Boehner may give the opening prayer.

I've wondered that, too. I've asked my dad, who is involved in the leadership of the Mormon church locally (I was raised Mormon) why he hasn't been excommunicated yet. He carries himself as a false prophet. He's doing and saying things that only prophet of the Mormon church has the authority to do.
