His father who he did not know and didn't even really mourn when he died because, as he said in his book, he did not know him.

Just shut up, Beck. Your lying schtick is just getting very, very old and very, very tired.

I think Glenn Beck, in his insanity, has created a fictitious family life that, in reality, he never had. He suggests that he and his father were close...but apparently they weren't. His mother died in some sort of boating episode, but Beck insists she committed suicide. Beck's career choice, at an early age, of being a radio shock jock, and his hyper-ambitious money grabbing and drug abuse, certainly don't suggest the type of family values Beck would have everyone believe he was instilled with. In short, Beck is a fraud...and probably a psychotic one, at that.

Maybe, some time in the future, we'll have a time machine... then we can send Arnold Schwarzenegger back in time...

        Indeed.

But, let someone unleash on the alive-and-kicking Sarah Palin, and watch
for the absolute freak out . . .

If you watch the video, Beck criticizes Obama Sr. for being "anti-colonialist," and seems to race-bait Obama Sr.'s criticism of colonial Kenyan economic policy benefiting only British areas of Kenya. Of course, Obama Sr. is also "shown" to be a communist because he advocates redistribution of wealth.

Yep. A Kenyan economist criticizes British colonialism, and Glenn Beck freaks out, using it to imply that Obama Jr. is anti-white and a Stalinist.

Beck basically hopes his viewers never read Dreams From My Father, and instead assumes that Obama took his entire life from his father. What a despicable human being.

I also like how he seemed to allude to the fact that the British were not guilty of only building up the "white" parts of Kenya. This was certainly the case with any European power, but Beck seems to portray it as some anti - white radical sentiment.

Not just that, but the Kenyan post-colonial socio-political realities do not even closely mirror the United States current ones. This is so intellectually dishonest, I can't help but laugh.

I watched this entire segment. It was basically an attack on Obama's father because he seemed to advocate some type of socialism in Kenya as they emerged from the British empire following WWII. If Beck or his followers knew a thing about history or anti - colonialism they would know that most of these countries, like Kenya during decolonization after WWII experimented with different philosophies to try and cure the problems that came with 20th century imperialism.

However, if you have a Eurocentric viewpoint like Beck, then British rule was probably the best thing that ever happened to the barbarians from Kenya. This is the same old attacks devoid of any historical context to explain why Obama's father may or may not have belived in something.

Can someone explain to this poor , ignorant Canadian why the word "socialism" is used in a perjorative sense only in the US? I always thought that we are all our brother's keeper. Maybe not so much in the States. Please enlighten me.

The US has always had an aversion to socialism going back to the first Red Scare following WWI in the US. Now, it goes back further I would imagine, but the Russian Revolution of 1917 produced a certain amount of fear in the United States and set up the game as one in which you had the American free market system vs. the Russian socialism/communist system. Some historians go to the Lenin vs. Wilson dynamic to explain the rivalry after WWI.

This took on a whole new dimension of fear or lunacy if you want to call it that, with the onset of the Cold War after 1945. During the 1930s and even the 20s, the US had a relationship with the Soviet Union. Roosevelt recognized them as a nation in 1933 I believe, and we sent agricultural exchanges to the Soviet union to study farming methods in their collective farms to use over here on our huge industrial farms. That is just on aspect of the relationship.

After the alliance broke apart with the end of WWII, the relationship went sour and the cold war, more than anything else in this historian's humble opinion, has shaped modern America's attitudes toward socialism. Where we see it we see Stalin or the Soviet Union and most uneducated Americans do not believe that any form of socialism can't exist without leading us down straight to Soviet Russia, even though socialism exists in the United States all around us.

Also, anti - communism in the 1950s was not so much to catch communists, since at the time of the Red Scare of the early to mid 50s, the communist party was at its smallest in decades. Anti - communism was used to attack liberalism and other opposing ideologies or your political opponents. This helps you understand that red - baiting of the Democratic Party today, since it takes on the same things. That is not really concerned with catching socialists or communists, but discrediting someone you disagree with or a political opponent. That is the short version and I hope I helped.

You won't see a single word of protest of any of this garbage from any Republican officials, Fox News, Murdoch or Ailes. They ALL sanction it via their silence.
