Yes, Rush, it's because you can't oppose him with facts, so you rely upon lies.

So true. Limbaugh is the true racist in chief and it drives him nuts that we elected this wonderful President. Rush will try and try to destroy Obama but alas, Rush has lost his mojo. Who but the crazed few ditto-heads even listen to him anymore. I am a Republican but I am also a Christian like President Obama and racism is just too unGodly. By the way, who ever said Rush is the judge of who is or is not a Christian? When he cleans up his act. then he MIGHT have some credibility but so far, his racism and his lies are not too convincing that he even knows what it means to be a Christian. AND, remember Rush's rant about the Rev at the Christian church where Obama went for all those years. I guess Rush misses the total incredulity of his statements when he was on the bandwagon against Obama's pastor of a Christian Church.

That's right, Rush. People do actually swallow the pap you spew. People do believe you. Too bad you don't use your power and popularity to actually do something good for mankind.

Of course, Lucifer was the Lord of Light and chose an egotistical path too.

There were also reasons why some people thought the Earth was flat.

They were wrong, of course. But you cannot deny the fact that they had their reasons!

The "reasons" that there are "some people" who believe this are the very same "reasons" that many of those very same "some people" believe he wasn't born in Hawaii. And those would be utter stupidity and/or shameless racism.

The question is, why does somebody like you, who certainly knows better, keep insisting on making this an issue?

I had left my question opened ended with the hopes that one or more of our friends who gleefully embrace all things Limbaugh might respond.

I'm disappointed. I had hoped someone might pick up the gauntlet I had thrown down and attempt to offer an answer on how Rush's argument by innuendo could somehow, in ways I cannot imagine, be "valid" in some way.

But, our friends offered no answer, so I'll continue to see all things Limbaugh as a liar, a racist, a whiner, and an all around despicable human being--be it directly stated or poorly implied.

I certainly will should they ever decide to visit my church.

Christians and Muslims are both People of the Book and are considered to be the children of Abraham. Jesus is also discussed in the Koran. The Angel Gabriel also appeared to Mohammed. Both Islam and Christianity believe in a Day of Judgment.

First, it's Baptist and second, I see my comment regarding your idiocy that playing golf on Sunday made the President a Muslim flew right over your head. No Muslim deacons, squawks, but we have deacons who play golf, boat, fish, hunt, etc. on Sundays from time to time. Doesn't make them any less Christian nor any more Muslim.

          Stay stupid, squawks!

MMFA neglected to mention why this was brought up on the show. It was because of a NY Times article quoting Obama as stating that the call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on earth at sunset".
According to the article, BO recited the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer with a first-rate accent.

I'm gonna have to agree with doughpro on this one. My father grew up in Iowa, but as a WWII buff, he would occasionally drop a few German phrases here and there, always with a first-rate accent. (Note the similarity here with doughpro's comment.)

Dad always claimed it was for comic relief. But we knew better! We eventually hauled him to the cellar, tied him up and reported his Nazi a$$ to the proper authorities. The last time we heard from him was through a postcard from South America.

Oh, I read it, Doughpro. And I got your point. Obama's such a secret Muslim that he talks openly about his youthful encounters with that faith.
By your logic, Robin Williams is Jewish because he uses Yiddish expressions in his act, and every film that uses Catholic religous imagery is pure Vatican propaganda. (Which would certainly come as news to the makers of THE GODFATHER).

Well, since he lived in Jakarta from age 6 to age 10, I'm sure he was a little Jakarta street kid for a while. He also attended a Catholic school when he first moved there and later attended a public school there for a bit before he went back to Hawaii where he was raised by his grandparents.

So, what exactly does that have to do with reasons to believe that he is a Muslim?

It would be an issue if he were or weren't, doughie. Students get in trouble for acting out in class . . . doesn't matter what the class is. Teachers have to have control over the class. Did you not go to school?

I would, but you have to register to view it. The name of the article is "Obama: Man of the World". It's actually a flattering article, and if it were written about anybody other than the man I see currently as head of the country, I would be impressed. The Obama that I see now doesn't appear to be the same man described in the article.
For instance, in the article, he speaks of promoting "responsible fatherhood", which I believe to be an important issue, but I see no evidence of that so far.

                        By NICHOLAS D. KRISTOF
                        Published: March 6, 2007

“I was a little Jakarta street kid,” he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office (excerpts are on my blog, www.nytimes.com/ontheground). He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.

For instance, in the article, he speaks of promoting "responsible fatherhood", which I believe to be an important issue, but I see no evidence of that so far.
Really. Do tell. He's by all appearances an excellent father and unlike a lot of folks on the right, he's stuck with his family. He leads by example.

I agree, lovely post, TNP. Sometimes there's a post so stunningly idiotic that there's no use in responding with any reason or counterargument. Simply continuing DoughP's line of thought was the perfect way to answer and destroy his "thinking".

It's the belly laughs I get from pratfalls like this that are one of the main reasons I visit this site. It's hard to believe the wingnuts never figure it out, that this site is mostly visited by those who see right through the propaganda, who aren't buying it.

And even after reading the comments of those who are way ahead of them, they still volunteer to not only show everybody that they're falling for this crap, they add the comedy gold; telling those who have already demonstrated they're on to the scam that they've missed something. The chumps actually try to explain why everybody should be as gullible as they are.

"MMFA neglected to mention...", " What you're all missing here...", "Rush is right..."," Glenn Beck is taken out of context..." any time I see a post starting out like that, I know I'm in for some big laughs.

I was just providing what MMFA should have included in the soundbite, which was the reason why Limbaugh made the statement in the first place.
I would have to say that the fact that so many in here can take a 44 second soundbite and babble on for hours about how much BS it is, even though the soundbite doesn't say much at all, is fascinating to me. How many comments so far???

Oh, Mercy, it's hard to believe some of these people are for real.

It's like we're giving them the answers to the test, and they're still failing. I can't even respond, it just feels cruel. This is such a good illustration of what I was saying.

What the normal human brain sees: Rush Limbaugh hunts down an article mentioning some exotic and Muslim-y sounding details about Obama's life. He uses this item, in conjunction with recent polls showing a number of ignorant Americans believe the president is a Muslim, to throw some red meat to the tinfoil hat bigots and birthers in his audience.

What the doughP brain sees: Rush just happened to stumble on an article that includes some exotic and Muslim-y sounding details about Obama's life, and gives insightful analysis as to why these things could explain reasonable people being concerned that the president is a Muslim.

Rush really didn't want to comment on this, or to promote any secret Muslim conspiracy theories, he was almost forced to.

And doughP is "fascinated" that others can see through Rush so easily that, even based on just the soundbite, without knowing about how Rush led his monkeys to that soudbite, they're able to comment on the item.

              Talk about "fascinating".

Oh, it's fascinating all right :)

Personally, I find it fascinating that there are people who think (apparently sincerely???)that things like building a house of worship or saying "happy holidays" are offensive, but "Barack the Magic Negro," Barack the "man child," "anchor babies," "black think," "illegals," etc., etc., etc., are not.

I can speak French with a first-rate accent, and I'm African America, so based on the way you view other cultures, that would mean that my allegiance lies with the French government. WRONG.

An appreciation of the cultures of other nations doesn't mean that a person is unpatriotic. It only means that a person has been exposed to something that many others may not have been exposed to, and that the person is open-minded enough to appreciate certain aspects of other cultures.

That I like Machiavelli, Buonarroti, Raphael, van Gogh, van Dyke, and Botticelli, among other artists and writers only means that I've been exposed, through education, to things that the average person hasn't been exposed to. My daughter was an Art History major in undergraduate school, something some Americans might find to be an unusual college major for an African American. It might also be something for which they'd brand her as being an elitist.

Different people are interested in different things. This has nothing to do with their patriotism. In fact, I'd conclude that many of those who criticize others for being different than themselves have a bit of an issue with their own self-esteem and can only "level" the playing field by condemning them for being different.

In fact, the soundbite mentions that BO called Christians "bitter clingers". Could that be considered "condemning" a group?

                LOL!!

No, he did not say that Christians were "bitter clingers."

"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama said. "And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

I seem to recall when an education was a good thing. There even used to be a time when great thinkers were admired. Today, it seems, people relish their ignorance. Why should they learn about other countries if America is perfect and the best. Why bother to at least learn what other religions believe if I know mine is right and even looking at another religion's holy books means I am being tempted by Satan. Why learn when it may challenge my deeply held assumptions and stereotypes. That and those willing to exploit such ignorance and we have America today.

Since Obama spent 4 years as a child in Indonesia, I'm sure he heard it enough to learn it. One of my best friends from church could probably do the same thing and would agree that the call to prayer is very pretty. She was a missionary to Indonesia with her husband for many years. She speaks the language fluently. So, I'm assuming that she, too, is suspect, right?

ZOMG!! an appreciation of something Muslim from when you spent a portion of your formative years in a public but secular school system while your family lived in Jakarta after you were taken out of a catholic school there and then before you attend the Christian Church where you lived in Chicago! Even though if he was Muslim you'd think he would have attended a Mosque there? But lets continue throwing rational thought out the window because clearly it's all been planned from the day prior to his conception by his parents that both died before he began the political portion of his career so clearly the plan was continued by his methodist grandma. Yes, it's so clear how did no one else see it before!

It's a giant plot clearly set in motion by WOODROW WILSON, muhahahahaha. Yeah, that's how out of touch with reality you sound.

You're argument is like someone calling you a liberal because you read the NY Times - weak. The man is worldly, get over it.
