My God, if a BS detector was in the auditorium during this "speech" it would have shattered in a ball of fire and sparks.

Sure, but Obama was talking about transforming away from an America by and for theelites,an America that was dominated by a small group of old, white pretend-Christians.

Beck is talking about transforming back to that model that was never in danger.

But I'm loving this crazy sh*t. I'm not optimistic enough to think that this meltdown is the death knell for the GOP,the leadership will distance themselves, but at some point they'll have to decide whether to coddle these crazies or come back towards the real world.

Either way, they have to alienate somebody, and it's going to be hilarious to watch.

I'm amused by a part of it, Major Tom, the spectacle of a snake oil salesman and the suckers who seem to have left their minds behind in following him.

I don't mean to make light of the fact that there's a group of Americans gullible and misinformed enough to be buying Beck's pablum. It may be a fraction of a percentage of the country attending, representing a small fringe, but it's still a pretty sad and frightening picture.

I'm not disregarding the potential for unstable types to be driven over the edge by this sort of emotional cultish behavior either, as much as I hope none of these idiots has some kind of vision and snaps.

Neither do I want to make a joke of the insult to the legacy of the Rev. King that's at the heart of this. Glenn Beck will be forgotten shortly, and King will be remembered long after Beck's act is over, but right now it's pretty disturbing that this is taking place.

I thought fundamental transformation was BAD...evil, in fact.

One possible explanation for this bizarre performance is that Glenn Beck is psychotic.

From watching this desperate performance, I don't think that could be any more of a possibility. When I look at this guy now, the first word that comes to my mind is psycho, and only getting worse.

Sarah Palin just said at the rally that we must NOT fundamentally transform America. Instead, we must "restore America." Only, America is not in danger of being lost under Obama, and I doubt Palin even knows enough of America's history to know what restoring America would mean. Our origins were much more communal than she would allow. The Yankee ideal had a lot to do with community. I am sure she and others on the Right (like Limbaugh) would substitute a false 'rugged individualism' for a Biblically based-justice and morality. I believe Beck and Palin are false prophets. How dare they (in their ignorance)invoke MLK!

I'd love to see a picture of the crowd there because I keep thinking the crowd sounds pretty thin.
Then again it might just be because its way past bedtime for most of Becky's loyal followers.

So in 12 hours America is going to be fundamentally changed? Wow, that is quite a feat Mr Beck. You and your mindless minions are going to change everything? Personally I can wait to hear what happens at your loser rally. Oh and here's a little secret Glennie. Nothing is gonna change. At least not the way you want it to. Sorry to disappoint you. But have your little fun and get your morons all in a tizzy. The rest of America is laughing at you.

I fear that he will attempt a Putsch by leading his marchers on to the White House to depose the President.

When this fails, he will use his trial as a platform for his ranting.

Anybody else notice the shaky sense of desperation in his voice?

What the f--k could Glenn Beck possibly have to offer that will 'fundamentally transform the United States of America'?

Unless this really is an attempt at a mass suicide and/or a homegrown terrorist attack, I can't think of anything else that his paranoid mind could put together that would do the job.

Maybe he finally is realizing that after this weekend, he is going to be effectively marginalized.

All the blustering in the months leading up until now have made him somewhat of a celebrity. But once this little love-fest is over and America doesn't 'fundamentally change' like he predicted, he'll be just another shyster out to make money.

It's oddly similar to those Mormon prophets (who he probably admires) that predicted the world would end in a certain year and when it didn't, they just made up some other crazy s--t for their followers to fall for.

How much higher could he have set the bar? I mean, MLK? 'I Have A Dream' speech anniversary? Possibly the single most important speech in American history?

Glenn Beck is a flea compared to MLK. No, he's some kind of tracheal mite that would infest and then kill that flea. He would repel the individual bubonic plague bacteria that were residing on that flea.

This man is going down in flames quick and soon. The footage is, in all likelihood, forthcoming.

Joseph Smith declared himself a candidate for President and created a large militia. He declared martial law and was killed by a mob, led by the local police while trying to fundamentally change America. Could be a strange day. "History doesn't repeat itself but historians do." O. Wilde

Dude, first you claimed that this rally was going to be just like the speech that MLK gave, then it was about honoring the troops, now it's about some religious crap and that it has to do with the "God almighty". Make up your damn mind.

Beck says something to the affect that we can concentrate on America's scars or we can look to the beauty within. As he says this, he starts to cry.

That Beck starts to cry there is very telling. He's talking about himself there. This guy is riddled with issues. I wouldn't say self-loathing because he's a narcissist, but in the quiet and lonely times, it gets black for this guy and he searches for redemption. The problem is, he's looking for redemption from himself and now he's tied a large group to it. The euphoria and inertia of this event will wain, and he's going to be left with just himself again.

Some people seek help, Beck has instead marketed his madness. I doubt his millions and 'success' give him much comfort when he faces his own darkness.

BTW, could you answer my questions RE your post here?

. . . this is 1933 Nuremberg for nut cases, and FOX is serving as the Leni Riefenstahl to perpetuate a false sense of unity for all the misinformed masses they have created.
