Just wanted to let you all know the New Left Media has come out with their video of BeckFest. I really like these guys. I love how this just ask the questions and they aren't confrontational. The folks at the rally on Saturday are as ill-informed as ever, if not sadly entertaining. Anyhow, just wanted to put it out there in case anyone was interested --

By the way... isn't this "collective salvation" crap based on one sentence from an Obama speech, in which he wasn't even talking about religion?

. . .The problem is this is "think tank" assembled and delivered by Beck. Whether its Murdock, Cato, Koch the same theme is being repeated.

Even the Catholic Church now has moved away from "Social Justice" themes more to "devotional" articles.

The Jane Mayer article has a ton of resources that should not be overlooked.

The Roman Catholic church gave up social justice years ago when the then pope made Fr. Drinan give up his congressional seat, and told the priests in Central America stop their protests.

They gave up "Liberation Theology" not social justice. You can say what you want about the church but they've been leading the fight for social justice for a long time.

I hear Beck say this but have never heard anything remotely like "collective salvation" come out of the President's mouth. Was he talking about patriotic service to country or something? Why does a self proclaimed devout Christain lie with such impunity.Shouldn't he ask for a clarification of the "statement" before he says such stuff to millions of people who don't know any better and assume it must be accurate? How can Beck not see the divisive impact of his actions? If he wants to be divisive which characterizes his comments everyday, how can he show such hypocrisy now and claim some kind of call for more religious commitment to be more Christ-like.He is anything but Christ-like!!How does he get credibility with ANYBODY?? It's mindboggling to me!!

          Beck isn't a devout Christian, he's a Mormon.

Does he even mention Woodrow Wilson any more? I think he finally realized that the audience he was trying to reach is more easily duped if you talk about God and Jesus and America's Judeo Christian heritage.

Most of them don't even know or care who Woodrow Wilson was.

I think it's the exact opposite. Beck found out through his demographics that most of his audience actually remembers Woodrow Wilson, and knows that he's lying about him. So he had to change his tactics.

Yeah, Glenn Beck, it's so much cooler to belong to a church where a morning AM shock jock can publicly mock a woman's recent miscarriage and then never publicly apologize for it.

Jesus was all about mocking miscarriages, huh Glenn Beck?

So, Glenn, you're calling for a renunciation of the freedom of religion guaranteed in the First Amendment for all churches whose doctrine is different than yours? All "non-Christian" religions? [Which, of course, based upon the opinions of many evangelicals would be YOUR church, too.] How completely and totally un-American of you, you idiot.

Let's have an honest talk about what you believe. That's the point of honor.
      Huh?
Okay, not how I'd define honor, but let's go with it.

So you not engaging in a conversation with Wallis is dishonorable?
At last, Becky, we agree on something.

My Church preaches Social Justice. My Church does not preach killing anyone, not the unborn, not prisoners, not the old and dying. My Church preaches about the dignity of work and the right to belong to a union. You have demanded that people leave churches with this message, now you say we are dangerous to the Constitution. You confuse Social Justice with Liberation Theology. You say you don't want to close my Church down, you just want to have an honest dialogue. Well, let's have one about your church, and the questionable practices there, shall we? Satan and Jesus were "Spirit Brothers", you can become a god to your own planet? Black skin is a sign of sin and Blacks turn White if they become Mormon and get into the Celestial Kingdom?

Epk, the Mormons told me for years that the Catholics are a religion of Satan. LOL They always add "But they (Catholics) don't know it."

When they would tell me Blacks were black because of the curse put on Cain, I loved to watch them stutter and stammer when I would ask them how that curse survived the flood.

They also teach their followers that any Unions are communist. After all, those dues should go to the church. And you are right, they are very diligent about collecting the tithing. Even from those they convert in third world countries. It is considered a sin not to pay the church. Regardless that there are many scriptures that Christians were no longer under the law to do so. Jesus even pointed out the hypocrisy of many justifying their misdeeds because they tithed.

Stefiz, I lived in Utah for years and several of my friends left the church after going through that creepy anointing (preparing) the brides for their temple weddings.

Personally I think a theocracy is a greater danger to a constitutional republic. Particularly when that same republic holds the words, " . . . no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States," in its constitution.

Beck does not want a open debate. He would have already met with Jim Wallis if he did. He's merely pushing a the same old snake oil with a brand new "Jesus Juice" label. Everything he does is about the glorification of himself.

Jim Wallis, who is a very reasonable and open-minded man, has repeatedly asked that Beck discuss this issue one on one. Beck's response? He has smeared Wallis unmercifully and has refused to talk to him. Why? Because Beck IS full of poopie doopie, and he knows that his best talking point at the moment would be completely and totally destroyed. As a sociopath, Beck sees that whatever he does is okay and is right. When confronted by someone who questions his "rightness," Beck does what sociopaths do . . . destroy.

That's because Beck is a sociopath. He has no sense of right or wrong except that everything that benefits him is right and everything which doesn't is evil and wrong and must be destroyed.

Quick question for those who know a bit about religion.

If God gave us free will, (lets hope he did), why is he continously showing up through Beck (lets pretend Becks not a conman) and how come Becks fans know exactly what God wants in every situation?

Isn't that completely getting in the way of free will then?

Ever notice aswell how every self proclaimed prophet in history, or cult leader which Beck is really more comparable to, always happen to have a message from God which is really profitable to those "speaking" thw words of God. Like it leads to those cult leaders, a la Beck, becoming more powerful and/or wealthier.

I can't remember the last person who said, "God spoke through me the other day, said that fella over the road I hate is really important and I should be nice to him, God damnit I hate that man but oh well."

Thomas Paine said, in The Age of Reason, that Revelation from God only has value to the person who receives the revelation. It's hearsay to everyone else, and therefore worthless.

You're putting your faith, not in God, but in the honesty of the person claiming to have received the revelation (like Joseph Smith). God may not lie, but people claiming to speak for him do.

Whatever feels good to or benefits a sociopath is right . . . . everything else is wrong. They don't have a true view of right or wrong. As I said before, I saw quite a few sociopaths when I worked in juvenile probation years ago. Had two little murderers . . . both of them blamed the girls they murdered for MAKING them do what they did. Scary, scary young men.

How are they dangerous? They don't make laws. Although, I thought in your new worldview of religion, you are pretty heavily promoting what some would call a call to theocracy for the United States, which most definitely would usurp the Constitution you claim to love.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And, by extension, from such there is no threat to the republic, constitutional or otherwise. By the way, Glenn, the founding fathers did not consider mixing church and state a very good idea. Hence that whole first amendment thingy.
