Because Beck's hatred of socialism lessens significantly when it gives him a free day off with pay.

Nice rant! Yes, let's go after the labor movement that created the largest middle case in history.
Oh, by the way, Doc, by chance are you in AFTRA and getting time and 1/2 for your little tantrum?

Who does this idiot think union members are?

Because last time I checked they include police, firemen, road builders, airport personnel, plumbers, railroad workers, machinists, hotel employees, electricians, assembly line laborers, truck drivers, dockworkers, et al.

Y'know, all those pesky, America-hating socialists who keep American infrastructure alive on a daily basis?

You know it can be done cheaper by non union govt employees...but since unions overwhelmingly vote D, it's ok.

Done cheaper translates to being done poorly. I assume you have never served your state or country being the repug that you are.

Union employees represent only 12% of the American workforce. Most of the union workers in my neck of the woods, mostly Postal workers, vote (R). Most of them are retired military.

When you make generalizations like that, dave, you are usually WRONG.

It's always nice to know that when Glennie is on vacation that they can always find someone who is as big an a-hole as he is to substitute for him.
Personally I have never heard of this little moron before now but I predict that he will go far in talk radio. He's got it all! He's arrogant, he's mocking and he is dumber than a bag of rocks.
Oh yeah he will be the next wonderboy.
"Socialism Day" eh? Yeah we don't need a holiday to honor workers. Screw them! We need "CEO Day" to honor the REAL people who make this country great! On CEO Day all the workers could work for FREE just to honor their corporate masters. (The thought of it just brings a tear to my eye. It's so----American!)
But good old Doc is being a hero by working on "Socialism Day." What a guy! He won't honor those dirty old commie labor Unions. After all, what did THEY ever do for America---except give us the 40 hour work week, paid vacations, employer paid health insurance, decent wages, health and safety rules, pensions, job security. You know, crap like that that no real American needs! Thank God that the right-wing is there for us! >sarcasm mode off<

        Fine observation, soze.

I wonder if the "Doc" here will be going after the Beck, and other high profile, right wing talkers who are, by Thompson's admitted standards, unashamedly showing their support for socialism by not working today. And, for that matter, will he attack many of his socialist leaning listeners who have their radios on right now and are daring to *gasp* barbecue when they should be working, working, working just as the Founding Fathers intended!

Come on, "Doc." Attack, attack, attack!

We barbecued yesterday. Today, we're having French food and even some wine! I'm one of those parasitic government employees, of course I have the day off.

I thought Beck might reclaim Labor Day for conservatives like he did for the Civil Rights movement. Makes as much sense.

O/T, I caught a bit of Thompson's local show the other day, and he and his callers were mocking the "Young Guns," particularly Cantor, who is also local. Thompson went so far as to call Cantor a RINO.

Hey, buddy, why don't you give back all those things that were provided by the socialist ideas of the union and labor proponents: stupid things like your education (although yours is inadequate), your roads, safe working conditions, decent wages, and decent hours. I wonder how successful you would be under an unregulated capitalist system that would have treated you like a cog in the wheel, and if you were injured on the job or overworked to death, or beaten mercilessly for not producing to quota, well, there wouldn't be anyone who would want to help you. I've seen working and living conditions in countries where unions aren't strong. The living conditions aren't good for all those "capitalists."

Now, I am guessing that this guy has an agent. I am also guessing that his agent negotiated for the best possible deal that he could get when Doc Thompson was offered to host this show today. I am also going out on a limb to suggest that he probably sees these negotiations for his own benefit as pure capitalism at work.

However, a worker who seeks representation of his best inrests through a labor union to obtain the best possible deal from his employer, is a socialist.

So... since we don't want to be socialists... let's get agents. Let the average worker quit applying for jobs and let all the employers go through William Morris type, go for the throat, get what you can, agents to fill their labor needs. They will negoatiate a working wage for everyone they represent... for a small percentage of course. Why, we could solve the unemployment crisis right now if we did away with labor unions and just made everyone, currently unemployed, agents. It will be great, and we won't have to worry about that dirty "socialism" word, because this will be how capitalists do things!

When American clerks got the favorable reduction in hours from 12 hrs a day -six days a week to 10 hours a day and half day on Saturdays, the clerks were reminded that they must now furnish their own pens and ink!

Hope Doc Thompson enjoyed his Saturday and Sunday off . . . courtesy of unions bargaining for them long before Doc tried to wedge his head between crib bars.

Labor Day is Socialism Day, who knew? I thought Labor Day was in honor of those that fought and took it to the man and greedy companies, and did so even under the risk of death.

Boy did I get it wrong.

Actually, Labor Day is the day that Mitt Romney has to pay the illegals maintaining his lawn time and a half....which means they get a whopping $1.50 per hour instead of just a buck.

Yippee! Time for an ice cream!
