      He doesn't believe in evolution because he's never seen a half-man half-monkey.

And he does admit that he doesn't know how God creates.

      Has he ever seen God?

And if not, why does he believe in him.

That's what I was taught in Catholic school in the fifties and sixties. That God created the world the way science says it was created.

Which God is cooler, one who does cheap magic tricks like creating everything all at once or one who makes this elaborate plan starting from a giant explosion and ending with us typing on keyboards?

Not that I'm giving God any credit, just that if I were going to worship one, it'd be one, it would be the later, not the magician.

Well I'm glad to hear that the Catholic Church isn't as backwards as some of the others. I would think that people who believe in a God would welcome theories that can explain some tiny portion of the wonder he ostensibly created.

I have equal problems with the Fundies who tell me who God saves, and how God saves people. It's painting God into a box. God is supposed to have created all the world and all the people in it, if that's true, who am I to tell God how to do it or whom to favor? I believe in God, I have felt the presence of God in my life, but I can only speak for myself, and I certainly wouldn't try to speak for God.

            That God created the world
Genesis 6:5 Consequently God saw that the badness of man was abundant in the earth and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only bad all the time. Genesis 6:6 And Jehovah God felt regrets that he had made men in the earth, and he felt hurt at his heart.

And that was before he had come to know Glenn Beck! :>)

You can blame that on our lousy educational system. WHich if it were centrally controlled by the Department of Education and not left up to States to determine curriculum, our children would all be further advanced in the sciences and maths. THe standards would be standard across the nation.

COnsider that now that TExas has decided to eviscerate from its textbooks Thomas Jefferson (???) their students will not know who drafted the Declaration of Independence. They also want to include the knuckleheaded idea of Creationism. Texas buys the most text books in the nation so Text book manufacturers will now be eviscerating Jefferson from all the nation's text books...And challenging the noble sciences.
And people wonder we we are an ignorant nation living in our own filth.

"I don't think we came from monkeys" - Glumm Bleek.

I would agree with him. Fortunately, the commonly held Theory of Human Evolution doesn't contend that, either. Would it be too much to ask that he actually understand the other side's position before he doesn't believe it?

However, Bleek brings to mind Alexander Dumas, who was asked during a debate if he honestly thought his family was descended from apes.

Dumas replied "Sir - my family began where yours left off."

Creationists never met fact they couldn't ignore. They demand to see transitional fossils. Show them a transitional fossil, and they demand to see the one between it and the one before it.

Creationism/Intelligent Design has nothing to do with science, or the quality of education. Its only purpose is to protect religious dogma from the encroachment of science.

Chris O'Donnel is correct. The first amendment states nothing about the separations of Church and State.

It forbids the United States from Establishing a National Religion.
We can worship as we choose, Christian, Wiccan, Muslim, etc.

      Here it is:

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression. Ratified 12/15/1791.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The theory of evolution does not theorize that we have descended from primates. The theory claims that we merely share a common species of ancestor; which means that humans branched off in one direction from this ancestor, and primates branched off in another direction from this same ancestor. It makes total sense, and... does not conflict in any way shape or form with any of the biblical writings. I guess Beck just must have too much space between his ears to even process such a simple concept!

      So many facepalm moments...

OK Glenn, just because you don't understand something even on a superficial level does not mean that it's not true. Just because your lack the capacity or don't want to take the time to understand something doesn't mean it's being forced. Just because you or your disciples need to question your paradigm doesn't mean that you're being attacked.

Oh, and you're wrong. "Round Earthers" faced a lot of resistance from people who liked things just the way they were - despite the fact, as you rightly said, that it's true. Evolution is more than an idea. Stop peddling ignorance.

As someone who promotes "educating oneself," you really should heed your own advice.
