          The irony of a government employee griping about people "sucking the money out of the American taxpayer," never ceases to amaze me. When I worked for the county many years ago, my supervisor told us all that we were EMPLOYEES of the people and to always treat them with respect because, without them, we would have no jobs.

          You know you are just insane. working people had nothing to do with this collaspe. The RN's you work next too you are calling a leeche? Wall St. played casino games then got bailed out but the person who answers you 911 call is the leeche? The person who teaches your child is the leeche? Tax-cuts for cor[porations that working people will pay for yet they are the leeches? You got it backward as usual.

I have an idea. Squawks, why don't you stop taking your paycheck. I'm getting tired of carrying you, you government employee. Quit your job at the VA, and get one in the private sector you worship. C'mon, can't be that hard for a "bone fixer" like you to land a job, can it. Or, are the pay and benefits that come with a government job too good to give up? Oh, I forgot the pension too.

            Like I said, you're getting heavy, and I for one am tired of carrying you with the taxes the government is sucking out of me.

            It is a disgusting, racist term used frequently in my part of the world to refer to African Americans. I guarantee you that Rush meant it in that manner.

            Maybe you can help me out? As a conservative and a Christian, I've often wondered why conservatives and Christians listen to Rush Limbaugh. They claim it's because he's a conservative, yet when I ask them for a list of Rush's "conservative values," all I get is "you suck, you sorry lib." Can you please give me a list? A hint, capitalism and corporatism are not conservative values, they are economic philosophies/systems that some conservatives adhere to and others don't.

            So, you want to try your hand at it?

            (Another clue: racism and hatred for people who have differing political ideologies aren't conservative values, either).

              I have lived all over the country and have never heard that term used, including the South. I cant find anything on the internet referring to it as a racist slur.
              I am at work when Rush is on. The only time I hear him or read about him is on this site. So I can’t attest to his values.
              It is just funny that somehow some way not matter what Republicans say its racists. Was Tony Montoya from Scarface racist? When someone says they scattered like roaches when you turn on the light are they actually referring to black people running from light?

                This has nothing to do with Rush Limbaugh's political club membership, highliter, it has to do with the fact that the man is a blatantly open racist.

                This term defitnitly has racist overtones. I have heard it used in derrogatory references to Afro-Americans and Latinos. The cockroach is a nasty disease spreading insect that multiplies and contaminates everything they touch. You step on cockroaches. You exterminate cockroaches. Cockroaches are not human beings therefore you can do with them as you please and he used it in reference to poltical opponents e idagrees with. Rush knew exactly what he was saying and to use this in reference to other human beings and to the POTUS is beyond terrible.

                  That is EXACTLY how it is used here. It's used to describe people who live in certain areas of town. It's racist and stupid and Rush said it intentionally, just like he says the rest of his racist comments.

                  I don't think cockraoch is a racist term. On the other hand, Cockroach is the de-facto dehumanizing term. It implies, like you said, that another person is a disgusting, disease spredadng pest that must be erradicated.

                The radio talk-show hosts in Rwanda in the early 90's used the term cockroach to incite the genocide against the Tutsi people. If you couldn't find it on the Internet, it's because you didn't know where to look...

                    Racism has nothing to do with skin color. Your question asking if the Rwanda genocide was "blacks killing other blacks" is the same as asking if the German's genocide of the Jews was simply whites killing other whites. Do you believe the Germans were not racially motivated in their hatred and murder of the Jewish people? Do you believe the Hutus were not racially motivated in their hatred and murder of the Tutsi people?

                I grew up in Texas but spent a few weekends across the border in a few Louisiana towns. During one such trip, I had the displeasure of meeting the foulest and most loathsome human being I ever had the misfortune to meet.

                Out of my father and grandfather's presence, he told me stories about "(n-words)' and continually refered to them as "cockroaches." Over and over he said these things to me, but at such a young age, I had no idea he was referring to people. I knew what cockroaches were, and was convinced that he was refering to some sort of insect that must only grow in his state. He really hated them, and from the things he told me about them, I didn't blame him. I was just glad that they didn't grow in Texas.

                Then he told me all these jokes and riddles about them, and to be honest, I laughed... and I started to believe that they weren't cockroaches but like fairies, or goblins, or some other made up character that grown ups use to tell kids stories and jokes.

                Biggest mistake of my life was telling my father one of these jokes... and when I got to the "n" word, he lost his mind. Was the scarriest reaction I ever saw in my father and I prayed I would never see it again.

                (For those of you who live in Texas, you will appreciate that after my father told me it was not okay to use that word, or to refer to them as "cockroaches" either, that it was okay to use the term "Aggie" when telling the joke)

                  Just a few days ago Beck apologized for his derrogatory comments about "Reform Judiasm." Not one of the so-called cons criticized him. No they took up his defense even after Beck himself apologized. today Rush comapares the Afro-American president of the greatest country on earth who won his election fairly and decisively to one of the nastiest disease spreading food contaminating insects and again anotyher so-called con dismisses it. I think we deal with on this site some of the most rabid right wing kooks around. I don't see these people in my normal every day dealings except for here.

                    Where is the outrage from other Republicans as Rush just denigrated the highest office a person can hold in this land. Remember the Republicans got the Democrats to pass a resolution condemning the MoveOn.org ad about Gen. Patreus? They were outraged that someonbe would question the patriotism and rank of Patrues in a time of war. "It was tantamount to calling him a traitor", we were told. Wow! How much things have changed as they do this and call this president a traitor every chance they get. Where is their outrage over this?

              Believe it or not I have been called worst. I don't think a lot of caucasians realize the privilege of their race,of not being considered a human. The subtle ways that is expressed to you on a daily basis. Most like highlighter ignore it or excuse it. It is so deep it almost seems natural(although racism is learned) but it takes it's toll on both those who are the victims of it and those who perpetrate it as the end result is both are held down. Then you have those like The Marlboro Man cavalierly calling other humans "Dirty f**kin' Mexicans, and telling me I need to take a shower because I smell like beans. Folks like highlighter make people like MM possible. I am not playing victim just laying out reality. It is sad but lets not let folks like HL or MM block us from keeping our eyes on the prize as we fight for a better world for us ,our children and even MM and HL.

              Don't worry about it, bintx. We've had to deal with racists using terms like these our whole lives. We just see them as the ignorant fools that they are. As a Christian, I don't understand how anyone who calls him/herself a Christian can defend Beck, Limbaugh, Breitbart, and the other right-wingers when they say things like this. They should be the first ones to repudiate this kind of behaviior. The fact that they don't lets me know that they're Christians in name only!

        What Limbaugh doesn't understand about President Obama and those of us on the left is that we don't look to him or anyone else on the right to tell us what to think/do. I do believe this is one of the major problems that many on the right have with President Obama, specifically. They have it established in their minds that we blacks and leftists need them to tell us what to do. They're authoritarians, and we're independent minded people. They'll never understand why we don't yield completely to all of their demands. They also don't understand that we will fight to the death to resist having that happen. In spite of all their violence filled rhetoric, they're among the world's most cowardly individuals.
