I find compelling the man in my neighborhood who walks around day and night talking about chickens, but that doesn't mean he should be considered for the Presidency.

Rick Perry isn't even his own man. He is an employee.

And he is not an employee of the people at large, but of a handful of wealth donors. I wonder whether he is conscious of that fact.

At some level, I think he must be. It just doesn't matter.

The pundits don't seem to agree on Perry's chances. Howard Dean thinks Perry is just a distraction on the road to a Romney nomination. The guy who wrote Bush's Brain said Perry would "waltz" to the nomination.

But, those guys are Liberals, so they aren't looking at Perry through the eyes of a drooling knuckledragger. To the Troglodytes, Perry looks like a Reagan/Bush love child with all the intelligence and religious nutbaggery of Sarah Palin. How could they not love him?

Then, on the other hand, Perry's job may simply be to make Romney look more presidential so that he can attract centrists in the general election.

      Who knows?

I think he is the candidate. As you said he represents everything sacred and holy in the GOP right now. Some think he is too far to the right for the greater GOP audience, but I don't think a good number of these people realize how far the Trogs have moved to the right over the last 3 years. The religion issue will be the driving force. The Christian right will not be voting for Romney. No way, no how. The teabaggers won't either, and they are driving the bus in the GOP right now.

        Perry is their guy.

With gaffes like "corporations are people", Romney's not going to play well with, yanno, the little people.

Yes, Eric. You're right. Perry does compel thought. Oh, he does indeed.

Thoughts of... ridicule... terror... befuddlement... concern for public safety... wondering how someone can be so full of nonsense.

He is, in fact, incredibly compelling. In a my dear lord please keep that creepy freak away from me or anyone even vaguely interested in the concept of America.

Yes, Eric. For once, you are spot on.

Now can we talk about something "compelling" that will even matter in three weeks.

No, because if Perry crashes and burns, Bolling will deny ever saying a positive thing about Perry. And the Fox audience will believe him. Remember, as Newt put it, quoting them exactly is lying.

One-dimensional candidates is all Republican offers

Rick Perry is no different from all the other far-right Republican/Tea-Party we heard from the last 3 years.
Rick Perry is an extremist incapable of mature productive dialog, by virtue of his total opposition to the Democratic Party, and President Obama in particular.
These mean-spirited carbon-copy Republican Presidential candidates only know of one way to campaign. It starts and ends at the lowest denominator.
All of them specialize in pointing fingers, attacking, criticizing and using code words.
Believe it or not this is Republican strategy to win back the white house. The same failed tactics used by John McCain and Sarah Palin, who, by the way, lost.
There is no rationale and logic in hate and entitlement, which should help explain why Republicans were willing to default on their debt obligation.
What you will get from candidates like Perry and Bachmann is divisiveness, ignorance and stupidity.
What you won’t get from Obama haters is common sense and reality.
      Just what the Tea-Party ordered.
Because of hate and hypocrisy these one-dimensional candidates will continue to take the low road to the highest office in the land (at least they will try).

Interesting that Perry feels the need to be armed when walking his daughter's dog . .

If one were to be believed that he actually walked a dog . .
