Does Beckster mean that they are "characters" (with which I'd agree) or that they havecharacter? And in the connotative meaning of "character", we all have "character", but if he means "integrity", he's way off base. Neither of these people would've fought or endured physical hardship. Hell, I'll bet Bachmann won't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express! (Although that might make her smarter!) And neither would've worked to free the slaves...

O'Reilly and Beck both said that Washington freed his slaves, which is of course a total lie. Jefferson freed his remaining slaves upon his death, Washington willed them to his wife, who emancipated them upon her death.

Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum can barely spell "Lincoln". They could certainly never have crafted phrases like "with malice towards none" "with charity for all" or "the last full measure of devotion". Can you imagine Michele Bachmann on the dais at Gettysburg, looking left while the audience is right in front of her?

There's NO WAY Rick Santorum or Michele Bachmann could ever be seen as a leader who personified a nation and transcended partisanship like George Washington. They're partisans to the core, politicians who consider their opposition to be enemies of the state rather than mere political foes.

Beck's characterization of these two buffoons as Lincolnesque and Washington-like would be laughable except that he says stupid things like this so often that no one really notices any more.

Well both Bachmann and Lincoln had/have marriages where one of the people were gay and the other was a crazy person...so at least they have that in common...

I thought Glenn Beck was too busy leading a world wide movement started after his "rally to teach Israelis about courage". That must have fizzled out like the American Caliphate movement or the FEMA Concentration Camps.

Oh, bull. If either of those men had been like the two numbnuts Beck mentioned, this country would have either never been established or would have ceased to exist 150 years ago.

Well lets see; Lincoln quickly scribbled his memorable Gettysburg Address on a piece of paper in the minutes before giving itwhile riding to the battle site that finally ended slavery in America..Bachman did a lot of finger writing while giving a speech full of lies about founding fathers "tirelessly fighting until slavery was no more"!
Lincoln, in the same speech lamented the suffering of our nation in that same war while Santorum says suffering is just a Christian requirement,so get used to it!!
That's a close as I could get to connect the three of them!

The two biggest reasons that Michelle Bachmann isn't connecting with the American public, Glenn, are those wild, crazy eyes of hers.

This may be the most ignorant thing Beck have ever said, on multiple levels. His statement implies that Washington and Lincoln are on par with each other it terms of character, which, A) if Beck was the student of history he claims to be, he would know to be patently absurd, or B) he is deliberately pandering to the ignorant masses, by pretending something he knows if false.
NO president has ever shown less fidelity to the Constitution than Abraham Lincoln. If he look at actual facts, we will see that he didn't actually free the slaves, completely shattered his oath of office, behave EXACTLY like a tyrant with actions like having sitting members of Congress and journalists who disagreed with him JAILED, suspended habeus corpus without cause, presided over and directed a murderous campaign against southern civilians he considered his own countrymen, and countless other acts of despotism. This is a man whose character Beck thinks presidential candidates should emulate?
Santorum wants to force his own religious and moral beliefs on the populace without any authority, either granted to FedGov in general, or to the Executive branch, in particular. Santorum salivates at the prospect of ruling as did the corrupt and hypocritical papacy that bathed Europe in blood for its own moral good.
Bachmann, for her part, may be closer to Lincoln, so he might have something there. She thinks FedGiv is empowered to do whatever it wishes so long as they can think of a scary scenario with which to paint the inverted inaction. She's also all for torture, endless war, and the further destruction of the dollar by printing money we don't have and giving it away to foreign governments. She has absolutely no concept of the limitation the Constitution she swore to uphold puts on the national government. Instead she has declared her intention to govern in complete and utter violation of the document she pretends at once to support.
To pretend either of these colossal and unapologetic liars and hypocrites possess the most diminutive fraction of the sense of honor and love of liberty that George Washington was filled with is to display the worst sort of ignorance, or the most clear and calculated deception imaginable. Whatever occasional fragments of honesty, or tolerance of liberty Beck may have retained throughout his campaigning for endless wars, more government, and dismissal of the few who truly labor and battle for human freedom, it has clearly left him, if it were ever anything but a mirage designed as part of his facade built up to attract a large cross-section of viewers.
