Petunia is "talent" and doesn't have a union. She has an agent to get her the big bucks, her bennies and her perks (e.g., a Thigh Master and staff to ensure that she's using it correctly, namely not under her armpit).

My pinko liberal history professors tried to brainwash me with all kinds of propaganda. But after only a couple of years watching FOX, I have seen the light! Now I know that...

          1. The Founding Fathers were devout Christians who founded America to make the world safe for evangelicalism and theocracy.

          2. Jesus supported capitalism at all costs, which is why America is capitalist. It's just God's will.

          3. Tax cuts and deregulation have always caused growth in the economy. Just because no one can show a single example of it happening doesn't mean it isn't true.

          4. That durned Barack Hussein O-bummer is a fascist, socialist, secret Muslim terrorist who hates real 'muricans and wants to destroy America to make way for the dictatorship of the feminazis and enviro-wackos. It's true. Hannity said so.

          5. Everything in America was fine until that progressive FDR got power. That's where it all went to hell

But don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself!

      They attack working people
      They attack the poor
      They attack the homeless
      They attack the unemployed
      They attack teachers
      They attack the sick

And they know how to do it in such a way that enough of the people they attack say "Thank you, sir, may I have another" to keep the illusion of their credibility alive

Are non-union charter schools indoctrinating kids with religious dogma? Works both ways Gretch. Its one thing to pose the question. What facts do you have to back this statement up?

That's just it. She doesn't need facts to back this up, because, you know, some teachers might be union, they HAVE to be indoctrinating our children with crazy liberal thoughts!!

Of course, this isn't even close to being what really happens in schools that I've been in. Most teachers try to teach to the best of their abilities. They try to educate their students. And it's hard, and you have to really TRY to get your own opinions into something in the classroom.

If schools were so into liberal brainwashing, why are there conservatives out there?

Basically, when they say this, what they REALLY mean, is that schools might be teaching their kids something they don't like, and hence, LIBERAL BRAINWASHING!!!

I think you're being too nice.

The point of attacks like these from Gretchen serve ONE purpose only. To make regular people hate the schools, so they will vote for the guys who want to de-fund them, and then award massive contracts to corporate (charter) schools.

Why do we call them "charter" schools anyway? They are corporations with the goal of maximizing profit, period. I'm sure they will hire some good teachers, but ultimately by LAW their first responsibility is to provide return to their investors, not educate the kids.

I propose we start our own Luntz style talking point, only one that is based on being accurate, and call these "corporate schools" or "for-profit schools" from now on.

I remember when I was in school and those union teachers brainwashed me into believing that gravity was real, that Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1492, that we landed on the moon, that pi was a non-terminating decimal approximately equal to 3.14159265, and that the proper spelling of the word is "receive".

It's sickening what I was indoctrinated to believe....

First off, Boxy, watching FOX clearly affects your ability to differentiate between declarative and interrogative sentences.

Secondly, and more importantly, watching FOX makes thinking peoples' eyes bleed.

That's if he even had the balls to come back and comment, which most of the trolls on this site don't once they get owned. They likely don't even remember where they've posted their drivel, they just make stuff up and move on, content that they've stood up for 'Merica and righteousness and all that.

j238, unless you have brain damage, just the simple fact that ANY topic appears on FoxNews ensures that its basic premise has been mangled beyond recognition. Don't worry, if water being wet is perceived to be a liberal issue, Fox will have its moronic audience hypnotized into a state of self imposed dehydration to 'tweak' the lefties.

That teaser will have more impact on the opinions of more people than anything you ever say will in your entire life. Therefore, it's fair to note it as more evidence of FoxPAC's propaganda against working people. Besides, there hasn't been a single pro-union ever aired on that channel since its inception, so no, the piece was not fair.

In Gretchen's defense, she was just wondering. It's not like "some people say union teachers are brainwashing our kids". She was just thinking about whether or not the godless, souless, unionized teaching infidels were trying to turn our beautiful little future leaders of the world, into a cult. That's all...just wondering.

        Brainwashing them. She's curious.

Beyond getting overstimulated and under-parented kids to pay attention long enough to teach them the basics of math, science, and literature in a world with hundreds of channels of video on demand, personal hand-held internet and phone devices, and realistic 1080i multi-player combat death-matches on Xbox and Ps3, these teachers are taking all that extra time to "brainwash" the kids.

I'm sure in between dealing with oversized classrooms full of legions of hyperactive kids with no concept of parentally or socially imposed boundaries, they can get all that intense brainwashing done.

Or maybe Gretchen is just a tool paid to "brainwash" regular people into voting for the people who want to dismantle education and replace it with corporate schools contracts.

Is there a direct equivalent between the dollars Fox pays her and the number of people she convinces to vote against their best interests?
Does she feel freer, lighter somehow, walking around without a soul?
Do her children know their mommy tells lies for a living?

Is your kids being brainwashed by (unions, teachers, Muppets, TV, etc fill in the blank with the scariest boogeyman) Except church. Brainwashing kids through a good Christian church is acceptable.
