I am wondering is she is some male dressed up like a woman. You know a switch hitter who just mouths off at women. The other alternative is that she is just a garden variety women hater, even herself. But sadly, this issue is so out of the norm for women who usually care for women's issues and the lack of services for the poor and sick. Makes no sense. Just a political knee jerk. I am wondering what changed so radically since a month ago and today. then the payment to PP was fine and apparently morally correct. Then the pressure on political issues and now back to square one but can we ever trust that bunch again not to abandon the most needy women just for politics sake? One wonders?

Sadly, the trogs have managed to make "family" a dirty word to me. Anytime I see one of these worthless. so-called experts who belong to an organization with the word "family" in it, I know they are the furthest thing from any kind of family most people would want to be a part of.

Oh, and Sandy, I don't think your gender is too thrilled you're a part of it right now either.

Good point. It's part of the oldest "conservative" con. They hi-jack words like "family" in order to fool the gullible into not noticing the more wretched parts of their ideology they are hellbent on imposing. They do the same thing with words like "Christian" and "patriot." It's totally disgusting and you are 100% right. Anytime you see "conservatives" using those words, you know someone is getting screwed.

They all fall under the umbrella of another overused and meaningless term ( used by way too many in the media, regardless of political stripe) "Values Voter".

Everybody votes according to their own values, but the ChristoFascists have decided that their values are officially THE values, and the mainstream media goes right along with it.

The conservatives haven't hijacked the word "family," because it belongs to whoever has the biggest and most families, just like "marriage" the more you have the more you own the concept. If you're going to play the game, you've got to play to win!

I'm pretty sure that for most women, there was no confusion about this attack on Planned Parenthood by Komen. At all.

Women apparently support other women in their health, and Komen decided that they didn't want to do that.

What he actually said was that the Republican health insurance plan is "Don't get sick, but if you do get sick, die quickly." Conservative talkers and pols took it up a notch when they translated that as "Republicans want you to die!" but instead of dialing it back and pointing out that they a) misquoted him and b) took it out of context, he ran with it and doubled down -- and I don't blame him at all. After all, it was their guilty consciences that mistranslated.

Yes, not only from this but from their actions regarding stem cell research:

        http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/02/02/1061151/-New-Komen-Foundation-policy-also-refuses-funding-for-embryonic-stem-cell%C2%A0research

There should be as much public condemnation on these actions as with PP.

I would like to see a full-blown investigation of all of their activities--I suspect there is more--sort of like Romney and his offshore bank accounts. The IRS, Better Bus. Bureau's charity reports, and Congress needs to explore their non-charitable decisions.

And the fact that they have sued other charities for using "the cure" in their ads, etc. I also find it interesting that they are currently giving money to Penn State which you know, IS BEING INVESTIGATED, for child abuse and molestation.

This whole thing is political from the top to the bottom. Komen's name is damaged goods.

The organization saw a chance to ride on the coattails of the publicity this is generating. I have few illusions about the big business charities these days. I also have no shame -- if it helps ensure that women in underserved communities get needed breast cancer screenings and education, his money is as good as anyone's.

I've tried, I can't think of anything the censor would let me get away with. There was one, five-letter word that popped into my mind. The heck with this Sandy Rios idiot -- who is this Jehmu Greene and how the heck did she stumble into being a Fox News contributor? Girlfriend did NOT allow the repugnant troll to talk over her, pushed back against her talking points and stood up for her right to speak uninterrupted. AND she managed to do it without sounding shrill or pulling a Romney. I want to put her in the room with a whole bunch of left-wing progressive males to give them lessons in assertive public speaking.

Yep, you pegged my gender right -- and no offense meant to your gender. I've just noticed this major difference between right-wing talkers and left-wing ones.

When a guy from the right gets interrupted by his opposite, he raises his voice slightly -- just in volume, not in pitch -- and says, "I didn't interrupt you. Let me finish..." and then goes right back to his talking point without taking a breath. They do it even if they DID interrupt, and no one EVER calls them on it. The tactic is beautifully effective -- 99% of the time, it shuts the other person up because they were called out for the interruption, and it sets it up in the mind of viewers that the OTHER person was rude.

99% of the time, when a guy from the left gets interrupted by his opposite -- unless it's the host of the show -- he STOPS TALKING or pauses and then responds to the interruption. This makes the interruption an effective tactic because it derails the point being made and turns the conversation in the direction the RW talker wants it to go. The few times I've seen a progressive try the "I didn't interrupt you..." tactic, they end up sounding petulant, or the RW guy responds, "You did, too!"

I'd like to see her go head to head with Bully. That'll never happen, she'd either make him look bad by threatening to beat her up or she'd make him cry. Can't make the network superstar look bad.

I don't see where "feminine confusion" comes into it. Komen pulled support from PP because PP is "under investigation" by congress. Under investigation doesn't mean they are guilty of anything. The right are trying to ACORN Planned Parenthood. Apparently Komen doesn't remember that little fiasco.

I almost choked on my coffee when she responded to being asked not to interrupt with "I might have to" -- on a real news talk show, the host would have retorted "Then I might have to stop inviting you to speak on this show." But then... I can't think of a single host -- not even those I really respect -- who would do that.

I have never typed the only word that describes my feelings and MMfA wouldn't allow it if I tried. It rhymes with "runt".

      Rios' Rant

When she used "emotional...vitriolic" to describe the response to SBK's actions while she spewed dogma-driven, bible-thumping, right-wing bile, she proved she has absolutely NO concept of hypocrisy.

Just saw on TV that over $3 Million raised for PP so far.

I see a positive trend in how the American people, or should I say the American conscious, are beginning to look at how utterly bat crap crazy the farthest parts of the right wing have become and are reacting accordingly.

Rios works for Moody Broadcasting. If I were a sexist pig, I'd say that this explains alot. So I won't.

But in Rios' defense, I believe that by "femine confusion" Rios meant "lady's problems".

That explains a lot. Bible thumpers seldom expect anyone to speak, only listen.

If she meant that, then she is saying she is ashamed of them. That makes no sense. Then she goes on to talk about irrationality and "misunderstanding" how she sees things.

I think you are trying to identify a horse by spotting a zebra. There is no defense of this total joke of a human.

I wish I could take credit for the following "apology" from Komen, but I can't. It's all over the internet:

"We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that resulted in completely unexpected scrutiny of our CEO's unconscionably high salary, obscenely high overhead to actual good ratio, longstanding links to Republican politicians, huge budget for taking oppressive legal actions against other charities that dare use the word 'cure', vast marketing and lobbying budgets, and long-standing history of secretly lobbying against federal assistance to women with breast cancer.

"Based upon the last ten years, we truly had no idea that we couldn't do whatever the hell we wanted with gullible contributors' money. We thought that the corpse of our CEO's sister was an impenetrable shield that protected all of our actions from scrutiny or accountability. We appreciate your support while we try to figure out WTF has changed.

"However, although the sudden spike in scrutiny and precipitous drop in fundraising and sponsorships scared the crap out of us, we want to assure all of you that, even as we desperately attempt to salvage something out of the conflagration burning our brand to the ground, we will continue to flat-out lie to your face and generally assume you are all still such credulous imbeciles that we can shamelessly stick to obvious falsehoods or change our story from minute to minute as whim or panic dictate.
Now please stop looking into our finances, lobbying and legal activities and strong political connections with right wing politicians. Stop it right now or Susan will be angry, very angry with you. Thank you."
