IT Support Administrator, Part-Time
Media Matters for America -- a progressive, Washington-based nonprofit research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media -- seeks a part-time IT Support Administrator to assist the Technology Department. This position is based in our Washington, D.C., office. Applicants must be prepared to relocate if they do not live within commuting distance of downtown Washington.
Working with our current IT Administrator and team of systems admins and developers, the IT Support Administrator will provide end-user hardware and software support for the day-to-day operation of Windows and Macintosh computers, printers, telephones, and other office equipment. Additionally, the IT Admin will work with vendors for equipment purchases, support services, repairs, and replacements.
A technology-oriented mindset, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to learn quickly can substitute for direct experience in this role.
Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with Windows XP and Windows 7. Mac OS X experience a plus.
- Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to take full ownership of problems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to keep track of a wide range of disparate tasks.
- Ability to jump into new technologies and quickly learn how to use and support them.
Hours and Compensation
- This is a part-time position, consisting of five hour days, up to four or five days a week.
- The schedule will typically consist of late afternoon to early evening hours.
- Compensation will be around $15/hour, dependant upon experience.
