Media Matters commends CNBC over Kudlow announcement

Washington, DC - Media Matters for America commends CNBC following the announcement by host Larry Kudlow that he has decided not to run for Senate. Media Matters noted in a March 20 letter to CNBC President Mark Hoffman that as long as Mr. Kudlow's candidacy remained an open question, his credibility as a journalist was compromised.

The letter stated, in part:

He is either a journalist or a candidate; he cannot be both. ... As a private citizen, Kudlow has a right to explore a run for public office, but using his platform as a CNBC host to further his political ambitions jeopardizes the integrity of your network.

Media Matters president Eric Burns said: "CNBC needed to resolve this issue to preserve the journalistic integrity of the network. Last night, they did just that. It was good for the network and good for its viewers that the air was cleared."

Oh boy. I can picture the rabid right's response to this piece. Levin, as an example, will go "See! See that! MMFA IS a political group! They just strong-armed a guy from running for the US Senate! A conservative too! Dammit, I was RIGHT! Where's the IRS!"

And the rest of the loony bunch will grab the ball and run with it, just as day follows night...

Rabbit I am all for free speech and I enjoy the discourse on MMFA, but to say it is not HEAVILY slanted to the left is being naive. I've been on this site for about 6 months and I haven't seen a SINGLE correction on anything that Olbermann or Maddow spews every night.

Go to red state for that. The mission statement says CONSERVATIVE misinformation. But if you think you have proof of Maddow and Olbermann doing it, feel free to post it for discussion.

Snoop I never actually read the mission statement, but it does make more sense. As far as only judging "conservative" statements however i think that their non-profit status could be questioned. As far as Olbie goes, he is on every night blaming Bush FOR EVERYTHING without EVER blaming ANY dems( frank , dodd etc). If o reilly did that this site would be all over him daily (which they are). Like I said I enjoy the discourse, and I'm all for free speech.

Don't even start with that non-profit status crap. Mark Levin does that crap at least once a week and he sounds like a dunce when he does it. Recording, transcribing, and commenting on conservative misinformation does NOT constitute political activity - certainly nothing that the IRS would look into.

4 cents I am not one to post a bunch of links, but in general terms he was responsible for overseeing Freddie and fannie at a high level, and told us as late as fall 2007 that they were both solvent and doing fine which was a flat out lie, or showed complete incompetence. At the same time one of his "boy toys" was actually a big wig at Fannie (I believe) that also caused a conflict of interest.

My point is only that there is plenty of blame to go around, and I thought to be fair it can easily be shared, but snoop straightened me out, I didn't know this site was ONLY correcting conservative comments.

Sorry, but they can't multi task. They are too busy right now congratulating the conservative media for using the word "socialist" whenever discussing anything Obama.

Just wonder why they didn't use the word "fascist race baiting child molesters" when discussing anything republican...
